Took a few friends to one of my regular rotation places: Fujiyama Texas.

Watercress salad

Dashimaki tamago

Simmered beef and tofu. New on the menu, really tasty.

Gotta get all the kushikatsu. My faves are shumai, onion, and mushroom.

Also gotta get dessert, which is always Twinkie kushikatsu and vanilla ice cream. For some reason, my friends don't exactly respond in a positive manner when they see this. My siblings, OTOH, *love* it.

Visited BOZU JAPANESE RESTAURANT a few weeks ago.

Pork kakuni. Well done.

Lamb chops. The most affordable of the few places I go to regularly that offer this.

If your restaurant has fries on the menu, I'm ordering fries.

Bozu's sushi quality is underrated. Along with the usual top-tier neta (Nodoguro, Kinmedai) they also offer really good iwashi and aji.

So I was watching an old episode of SEKKAKU GURUME last week and Himura-san had like, the greatest Chicken Nanban ever in Miyagi-ken. So naturally I had get get my own at old faithful Izakaya DANJI.

I eat "healthy" on school nights. Weekends: All bets are wa~ay off!

(p.s. Takahiro and Nesmith of EXILE were featured in the same SEKKAKU GURUME episode and ate pretty damn well, too!)

I shouldn't have come in here, now I'm hungry ?

Miso Udon Soup

We also hit Izakaya UOSAN last weekend, the one place on rotation closest place to home.

This is the daily specials menu, to give you an idea of the variety at Uosan. No, it isn't cheap -- life's like that, sometimes...

We had all our usual favorites that I've posted before. Ended with sushi, including several of the varieties listed above. I also had one kind that was *not* listed: KOHADA!

Only a handful of places offer this uniquely Japanese fish and I am so grateful for those that do.

Nigiri at SUSHI IZAKAYA GAKU last Saturday.

Chutoro

Kinmedai and Nodoguro: The BEST neta Japan has to offer!

Murasaki Uni from Hokkaido.
