Hi everyone. Just wanting to make friends who are just as obsessed with Asian dramas and movies as I am. Right now I mostly have Korean, Chinese/ Taiwanese, and Thai in my MDL. I am trying to do more Japanese but it's not exactly my favorite, or maybe I haven't found good ones that I like yet.  I'm trying to be more well-rounded when it comes to the different genres. So, I'm always down to discuss, recommend, or hear other people's recommendations. I'm only a few years in and I feel like I'm trying to catch up with everyone. Also, I blame IG reels for my long lists. 😂

Hello, I mostly watch comedy and heart-wrenching drama back-and-forth to hone my empathy because I feel like I'm lacking.

I avoid cliche and boring romance drama including cliche BL drama. And I rarely watch high-school dramas as they tend to be boring. But if my favorite actor/actress leads the drama, I'll try everything.

As not to make your ptw list longer, I'll give recommendation from your ptw:

Have a nice time watching.

Hello! I hear you on the empathy part. I'm sure I'm lacking in that area as well.

I'm trying to think if there is any type that I try to avoid. Usually, I always have the benefit of the doubt type of attitude but that's what gets me into trouble sometimes. I say that because I can't drop a show, and it is rare when I do.  It's also hard for me when it comes to my favorite actors and actresses. Once I like them, I want to watch everything they are in.  I love seeing how they first start out in the industry to grow into what they are today.

Thankfully these recommendations are already on my long list. I just haven't gotten around to them. Honestly though I wish I had something to recommend to you, but I feel like you've already completed majority of what I've seen.

Thanks for replying.

You're welcome.

I'm the opposite, I dropped a lot of dramas. Sometimes even with 2 episodes left. Sometimes within the first few minutes (but I usually won't put this into my dropped list except for Joo Ji Hoon's Kingdom).

And I'm making one more recommendation from your ptw, a profound BL drama titled The Eight Sense. Also Korean drama since I think you're more familiar with them.

Welcome to MDL :)

Yikes was Kingdom that bad or something?

Oooohh I know I saw an IG reel on that show! So eventually I'll get to that when I'm in the mood to watch something BL. It usually comes in waves. Right now, someone recommended me Lost You Forever on Netflix. I didn't know it was 2 seasons. BUT I've already invested all this time and its actually good actors, so I'll stick around for a little while longer. I really should narrow down my ptw list. It's actually more of a save and forget list more than anything.

I don't watch that much, only a few minutes, it's just it's too gruesome for me.

Lost You Forever is great. I haven't watch S2 though since there's too many dramas coming my way. But I'll definitely watch it. I love Yang Zi. She has her upcoming drama Flourished Peony aired on January 2025 that I'm expectant of.

I clean-up my ptw list regularly, sometimes until there's only 50 titles left. But I couldn't delete anything right now, I want to watch them all. You shouldn't delete the drama you want to watch. but you could try to set priority on advanced button beside general button whenever you add or edit a drama.

Ahh I see. That makes sense. I never cared to watch it since it has zombies and I don't really care for that type UNLESS Gong Yoo is in it.

I'm debating if I want to watch the second season. It's good and I still have a handful to get to but if it's satisfying enough by the last episode then I'll end it there.

OH MY GOSH. I didn't know there was a priority button. Thanks for the tip. It's always hard though because it really depends on my mood on what I want to watch next. Sometimes it's by actor, sometimes it's by genera. I don't like watching the newest things because I hate waiting for the next episode. I also can't do more than one show at a time.

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I LOVED Reply 1988. If you want similar vibes to Reply, 1988, Go Ahead and A river runs through it were a good watch as well. These are Chinese dramas I believe. I also recently saw Drawing Closer. It's one of the better Japan shows/movies that I've seen.

For Japanese dramas/movies, I definitely lean more on the old classic ones but there are also gems on recent releases of their dramas and movies (i haven't watched it yet but a lot of people are highly recommending the drama First Love, you can try that too)

Maybe I should try a classic one and see how different it is. One day I was hanging out with my BFF and her family watching a Jdrama. We had to change it to something different because we couldn't handle the storyline. Long story short there was this family that consist of a mother, father, and a daughter. One day the mother dies and years later reincarnates into a child around 10-11 years old. When the family finally believed the child is the reincarnation, the husband he was determined to remarry her once she was of legal age again.  Like hey, I get it love is love but at the same time, it's like what the heck?

I looked up the movie First Love and I learned there are 4 Jmovies with the same title. I'm sure people are talking about the newest one but I thought it was kind of funny. Thank you for the recommendation. Please feel free to let me know what you think about it if you watch it before I do.
