I totally agree with everyone. This remake is meaningless. Even when there is something funny it kind of hurts to laugh. It's hard to watch, I think the roles are too hard for the actors or something... I mean, seriously, the acting of Maeda whatever is just ugh. And her voice, especially when she's trying to speak loud! Oh, my poor ears! Also the doctor, it's so disapointing and sad. But if I had to say who acted their role the best it would be the actor who played Nakatsu. I know that many will disagree with me and OF COURSE no one will ever ever ever beat Ikuta Toma (love love love <3) but I think that compared to other actors the guy who played Nakatsu would be the best. Anyway, I never expected anything from this remake. But it would be fun if they did a Korean remake, tho.
just watched episode 7. ahhh the end was so kawaii but aggravating at the same time ^^
i think it's not a horrible series so far but it could never be as good as the first. i don't know why they did a direct remake, i still say they should have just done it as a sequel with new characters like gokusen that just takes place in the same school with similar situation. it would've made more sense. but oh well.

Just saw the first episode:
1.Oscar is played by another sentai and cuter in my opinion, where the original Oscar was just plain crazy all the time this version is a bit more calmed. not as crazy as the original. The aura guy is played by another Tumbler but no one can beat Yamamoto
2. The guys aren't as good looking as the original (no offense to them)
3. Nakastu- I love the guy that's playing him since he was in Tumbling. I do like how he's portraying the character but its just not the same.
4. The doctor is just plain creepy in this one.
5. This remake doesn't have the same silliness and foolishness that I fell in love with in the original. I mean it does its comedic moments nothing really over the top from what I've seen and the original was crazy from the start.
In general I'm enjoying most of it. I like how the two guys that were in Tumbling are playing Nakastu and the aura guy (I forget his name) who happen to be dormed together. I give them props for being good in their own rights. I also get changing things but there are some things I don't get like how the school seems to be a bit crappy. I mean from the original to me it seemed like the school was moderately wealthy by the looks of things and considering they would tv's and laptops away as prizes plus all the festivals and things they held. In this version, when you first see the school it looks bad and she falls through the floor for a little bit. I didn't get that.
Of course this is all based on the first episode. Things might change between now and the end (I did see the last scene already and I thought it was a better ending than the original) Overall though I kind of don't understand why they did a remake of their own show four years later.

People may kill me for saying this, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the original anyway.
Yes the cast was good looking (some taking more time than others to be considered "good-looking" and you really do fall for all that happy-go-lucky, let's have fun and start to enjoy the episodes.
But the ending.......gahh. One of the worst I've seen in a long time. (But bear in mind I usually don't reach endings...because they always wind up being predictable and done to death.)
Okay....maybe it wasn't that bad.
But as she was walking thru gates and gates....and people she barely knew profusing how hana kimi is such a great place just because she came along...and i'm like wth? Who even ARE you?!
But it was still good. I guess.
I watched the first three episodes of Hana Kimi: remake and gave up. Not because the cast are bad or anything (although Sano....WHY? You're making me prefer Oguri Shun) but the series is definitely calmed down. Good in some ways, not so much in others.
Unfortunately I can't remember how this Sano finds out she's a girl....I know in the original he overhears her and her brother (which if anything needs to be changed, is THAT!!)
Original was watcheable. Remake....why bother?

I'm definitely agreeing with you. The drama did feel very calmed down which for me took away what I really loved about the original. The ultra craziness and foolishness that was the original in story and in characters.
One thing I will say though is, and I'm only saying this if I understood correctly that you were talking about when everyone is saying their goodbyes to her at the end, She did know everyone, granted we didn't necessarily see her have a conversation with every single person but she knew them all, through the class room, her own dorm, when all the dorms were gather for some competition or festival or event they were ALL there. I mean they were living with each other and doing all this crazy stuff for 6 months together. I don't think they would be saying all this stuff if everyone didn't know each other fairly well.
I'm about half way through the remake. It's .... ahhhh *shoulder shrug* I think perhaps if you hadn't seen any of the other versions it wouldn't be so bad. The original Japanese one was really good, but I think personally I prefer the Tawian version. Personally I really LOVE ella chen, I think she is super adorable lol.
anyways watching episode 8 of the remake now and i'm totally creeped out. Sano's brother looks like a serial killer in the making lol
waiting on the korean version, I hope that one is fun.

I avoided it like a plague when it first came out, but then curiosity killed me and I checked it out. I only watched it all because Miura Shohei and Yanagishita Tomo (who I was pleased to see had quite a lot of scenes/lines) were in it.
Oh, I was also really excited to see that original Oscar (who I MISSED so much watching it cos he's the BEST Oscar) makes a like... two minute debute, but original Hibari comes back a couple of times! ^.^ I really missed their "HIBARI FOUR!" though xD
Not sure if I would watch it again, but to perve on those two boys above... I might. I still HIGHLY prefer the 2007 version, though.

Just finished the 6th episode and my favorite part was definitely having the cameo by the 2007 Oscar. I loved it. The best part was that both Oscars are former Super Sentai members. It was great. So far this show is fun. Its not the same as the original. Personally I think Mura Shohei and Yanagishita Tomo are the best (You can't beat Ikuta Toma and Yamamoto Yusuke but they come close) I definitely love their scenes together. Everyone else is all right but when it comes to casts I have to pick the 2007 casts.
Overall though I am enjoying the drama. I look forward to the Korean take on this one.

Once I stopped to compare it with the original one, I started to like it... but, as said in some previous posts, it isn't great like the first one (one of the things I missed: the doctor T-T)...
The episode I liked the most? The final one. It's a bit weird to say it, but it's true (because of the feelings* in it)! °-°
*and because of the music+dance performance at the ceremony. I even thought "They should be in a musical drama, it'd be great!" <-- spoiler

I actually stopped comparing the two versions about halfway through, and ended up really enjoying the remake. It wasn't as crazy or funny, but I liked that about it. They added some things that weren't in the original, and I much preferred remake Sano to Oguri Shun's Sano (and that's coming from a big Oguri fan) because he was so much more personable. I liked him, and I could see why Ashiya liked him as well. And the ending was a lot better. We got goodbyes from her friends, not the entire freaking school. And then we get a proper hug at the end when Sano moves to America.
I admit that in the beginning, I was totally against this show, simply because it was a waste of time to remake a show that had only been done 4 years ago. And I did think "how can you beat that cast!", and i still prefer some of the originals over the remake actors, but overall, I was able to see past the comparisons to judge the remake on its own merit. And i loved it.
