I think the surprise release is wishful thinking, based on the expiration of the broadcast license. Yes, allegedly, Winner is King passed the censors and had a license to air .... and then the Danmei ban came down.
IIRC, if Tencent doesn't air Winner Is King by the end of April then the license expires and they have to go through the board again to get another license. At least, that was some of the talk I remember reading.
The sad thing is that Jing can't even protect XY against anything. She would most likely have to protect him in the future.

Unfortunately for XY, by the end of the novel he doesn't have his one advantage - his powerful name and family connection - therefore, no money to hire the best shadow guards. His spiritual power is also in the toilet. If there's no Left Ear and Miao Pui, he and XY would run into trouble if they cross someone powerful. XY's ability is not enough to protect both of them.
