Johanna Linnea Karlsson:I don't know if this fic has been recommended before, but it's very in character and captures XL and XY perfectly.
It's called A Flag of Surrender.
No, I don't think there have been many individual stories on AO3 recommended, so thank you! I just posted a tag for LYF stories. Will add it to the first pages.
It sounds like an interesting AU ... though I have a hard time imagining CX, of all people, being cool with marrying off XY. Grandfather Daddy must have dragged him to the treaty table kicking and screaming. lol

It's so good, 2 chapters so far, about 1 chapter per week and I'm vibrating for more.
Read at own risk.
It's so terribly logical too, such an obvious route to have taken, which is why I guess the author didn't take it in the novel.
Once everyone knows who's daughter she is, she's the OBVIOUS bridge, as is Xiang Liu.
CX trapped himself by releasing her parental lineage.

Oh wait ... I know this writer. She did several ... racy LYF stories last year. ;p
Well, I may have issues with the set up. But I see they aren't talking about Chenrong. Interesting. Glancing at the first page, I see I was right. CX is having hissy fit. lol
This is my first fan fiction on Lost You Forever, and actually my first fan fiction overall. So all your opinions and suggestions for changes are welcome. I watched season 1 a while ago, so there may be some inconsistencies; if you notice any, please let me know.
A little disclaimer: I don’t speak English, so this is a translation from a non-native speaker, which may have resulted in some errors. Please forgive me for that.
To set the context:
The story begins like the drama Love Better Than Immortality, but it doesn’t impact anything if you haven’t watched it. The name of the female lead is a reference for those who know. The story is set around episode 4, Ye Shi Qi is already present, Xiao Yao is still Wen Xiao Liu and is already working for Xiang Liu. Ma Zi is already married.
Here’s chapter 1; I hope you enjoy it!
In the Year 2169
In a future where humanity has achieved immortality, people can undergo a process of physiological reduction of emotional reactions by wearing a virtual love helmet. By launching a micro-current stimulation program, they can experience love at its peak.
In a virtual reality room, a young woman, her face marked by anguish, cries out unrestrainedly:
“Stop! I don’t want this physiological simulation; I want to know true love!”
The system’s voice resonates, calm and composed:
“The Celestial Thunder System can fulfill your request, but you must give up immortality.”
With determination, she replies:
“I accept! Without love, what’s the point of being immortal… I renounce my immortality.”
“Do you have any requirements in your quest for love?”
She reflects for a moment, her gaze dreamy, before declaring:
“I want the man of my life to be exceptionally handsome, devoted, influential, and spoil me with lots of sweets… He should know how to handle problems, be charismatic and determined. He can be a Mary Sue, but he must not be too clingy or old-fashioned.”
“Your self-destruction subject is: ‘Under the autumn moon, reciprocal souls weave eternal love in the shade of willows.’”
Already imagining herself with this ideal man, she thinks excitedly:
“Holding hands, embracing, kissing…” She longs for what’s to come.
“Keep in mind the rule of the first meeting: the first man you see will be the man of your life.”
The countdown begins:
Three…
“What does that mean? And if I don’t like the man of my life…”
Two…
“Can I change him?”
One…
~
In a small, rudimentary room, the young woman wakes up, slightly dizzy from the space-time journey. As her eyes begin to open, a man with long silver hair enters the room. He is truly handsome, his bright complexion, rosy lips, and silky long hair giving him an air of innocence. She thinks with wonder, “What a charming face!” But she doesn’t have time to examine him closely as a mask appears on his face.
The man is about to open his mouth to speak, but he is immediately interrupted by the voice of another man:
“Xiang Liu! What are you doing here? Come to the backyard; a young patient is res… resting here.”
Just then, Wen Xiao Liu enters the room. Seeing the young woman awake, he pauses for a moment, surprised. Then he continues:
“My beauty, wait for me here. I have some matters to settle with my friend, and then I’ll come back to examine you.”
Before she has time to react, the two men are already gone.
As Xiang Liu and Wen Xiao Liu briefly discuss to proceed with their usual poison exchange, the young woman thinks in despair: “But where have I landed? I just wanted to know love, and here I am, projected into a distant era…”
No time to think further, Wen Xiao Liu returns to examine her.
“So, young lady, how did you end up in this state?”
A bit nervous, she stammers:
“Uh… I have no idea…”
“Hmm, okay. And your name? Do you remember your name?”
She hesitates for a moment before replying, feigning confidence:
“Yes, yes, it’s the only thing I remember… My name is Lin… Lin Qiu Yue.”
~
POV Qiu Yue
Qiu Yue wakes up, her mind wandering over the events of yesterday. She thinks back to the first man she encountered: Xiang… Xiang Li… Xiang Liu. Is it really him? She can’t help but admire him: “He’s so handsome… but he seemed so cold.” A shiver of uncertainty runs through her. “How am I going to attract that block of ice?” she wonders aloud, a hint of despair in her voice.
“Hm? What are you talking about?” Xiao Liu interrupts, entering the room.
Surprised, she tries to hide her thoughts: “Oh, nothing interesting, Liu… Tell me, how can I help you? After all, I was injured, and you took me in. I owe you that much.”
“Well, let me check your pulse first. If everything is fine, you can have some porridge and then wash the dishes.”
He takes her pulse with unexpected delicacy. After a few moments, he declares that she is well, then invites her to follow him to the kitchen, where Lao Mu and Ye Shi Qi are present.
Qiu Yue greets them warmly, though her heart is still in turmoil. She serves herself a bowl of porridge and sits at the table, her mind distracted. As she eats, she can’t help but think, “This is so dull. I came in search of passionate love, and here I am at the table, eating porridge in this apothecary…”
A slight frustration fills her as she finishes her bowl. She stands up, takes the others’ bowls, and heads to the river behind the house, hoping the fresh air and the sound of the water will bring her some comfort.
She crouches down and scrubs the bowls and utensils vigorously, lost in her thoughts, when a piercing eagle cry echoes in the air. She looks up and catches sight of her future lover—if she dares to imagine him that way.
Not wanting to appear desperate, she continues scrubbing, convinced he is back for Xiao Liu. But suddenly, a firm hand pulls her back by the waist, causing her to drop the dishes, splashing her robe.
Xiang Liu spins her around abruptly, gripping her shoulders with unsettling intensity. His mask fades away, revealing eyes as red as rubies. “Who are you?” he asks in an icy voice.
Qiu Yue remains still, her eyes locked on his. She wants to respond, but words fail her.
Xiang Liu, visibly irritated, retorts, “What poison or magic are you using? Your presence feels like a spike piercing my heart.” He resists clutching his chest, the pain evident on his face.
Qiu Yue, puzzled, replies, “I am Lin Qiu Yue, and I don’t understand what you mean. I am just a simple mortal, with no spiritual power or ability to poison.”
Xiang Liu’s gaze darkens even more, and he abruptly lets her go before disappearing into the air on the back of the eagle.
“What a disastrous first encounter,” she says to herself, looking up at the sky, a mix of frustration and sadness filling her heart.
POV Xiang Liu
Riding on Maoqiu’s back, Xiang Liu recalls the woman who so troubled him, reliving their first meeting at the Den of Youth, which had happened just the day before.
Her beautiful black hair, slightly wavy, cascaded down her back. Her delicate face exuded a rare kindness, and her slightly bitten lips, forming a heart shape… This true goddess is named Lin Qiu Yue. “If I had been Fang Feng Bei, I would have approached her differently,” he muses with a dreamy smile, before quickly straightening his lips into a smirk.
He nearly loses himself in his thoughts when the memory of an urgent matter pulls him back to reality. The presence of this woman causes him unbearable heartache.
~
POV Qiu Yue
A few weeks have passed since her arrival here. She still hasn’t seen Xiang Liu again, and she wonders if she may have given up her immortality for nothing. Especially since she learned that he is a demon, which means his lifespan is far greater than hers. She could grow old and gray, and he still wouldn’t care about her.
She pushes these thoughts aside and resumes what she was doing: sorting medicinal herbs.
She has gotten used to living here, alongside the entire group. She shares her daily life with Lao Mu, Wen Xiao Liu, Ye Shi Qi, and Chuan Zi. She also met Ma Zi a few days after her arrival; as he is married, he no longer lives at the Den of Youth.
She feels a particular closeness to Ye Shi Qi because they have both experienced something similar: they arrived here in a miserable state. But deep down, only she knows how she truly ended up here. The woman whose body she now inhabits—identical to hers in every way—had evidently suffered terrible injuries before being rescued by Ye Shi Qi, who, moved by her situation, begged Wen Xiao Liu to heal her. He eventually gave in to his request.
As she thinks about all this, she opens her collar slightly and observes the large scar marking the top of her chest. She thinks the system wasn’t gentle with her, marring her body this way. “It’s not with these ugly scars that I’ll manage to touch the heart of the nine-headed serpent,” she murmurs with a sigh.
She doesn’t have time to daydream further, as Ma Zi and Chun Tao, his wife, rush into the clinic. Freckle is injured. Without hesitation, she rushes to treat him, surprised to feel genuine concern rising within her.
A few moments later, the other protagonists enter. Qiu Yue notices hatred in Xiao Liu’s eyes, but not understanding the situation, she doesn’t dare to ask questions. She also sees compassion and… love? Clearly directed at Liu, in Ye Shi Qi’s gaze. Puzzled, she wonders for a moment if he is really in love with another man. Not that it bothers her, but it’s surprising to see this in such an ancient time. She prefers, however, not to dwell on the thought.
~
Later, lying on the lounge chair in the garden, Qiu Yue finally learns what had happened. Chun Tao had accidentally bumped into a bad-tempered noble deity, resulting in the public humiliation of the men of the Den of Youth. Upon hearing this, she congratulates herself for not having gone out much since her arrival. After all, she knows nothing about this world, and who knows what might have happened if she had been in Chun Tao’s place.
Suddenly, an argument breaks out in Xiao Liu’s room. Qiu Yue hears it but chooses not to pay attention, not wanting to meddle in their affairs. She eventually falls asleep.
When she wakes up, night has already fallen, and she realizes she is still in the courtyard. Wanting to freshen up a bit, she heads towards the stream. However, when she arrives, she sees Xiang Liu and Xiao Liu deep in conversation.
Seeing this, Qiu Yue tries to slip away discreetly, but it’s already too late: Xiang Liu has noticed her. She barely has time to turn around before he is already standing in front of her, his piercing gaze boring into her. She stares at him, her eyes drawn to his lips like a magnet. But before she can look any longer, she feels Xiang Liu’s arms wrap around her waist. In an instant, she finds herself on the eagle’s back, flying over the river, the wind whipping her face.
In the distance, she hears Xiao Liu shouting, his voice tinged with panic: “Xiang Liu, let her go!”
POV Xiang Liu
In his panic, he grabbed her without thinking through the consequences. Now that it’s done, he can’t back down, or he’ll look like a fool. “Well, since it’s done, I might as well take the opportunity to probe her,” he thinks, still troubled by this woman’s identity.
Suddenly, he feels a small hand clutching the back of his robe. Qiu Yue is there, holding tightly to Maoqiu’s feathers with one hand and his robe with the other. The situation almost seems laughable, but he stifles a chuckle, maintaining his serious and cold expression.
“Lord Xiang…” she whimpers, “Please… put me d-down.”
She grips the bird’s feathers more firmly, causing it to let out a low growl.
“To begin with, I suggest you let go, or I can’t guarantee your safety,” he responds in an icy tone.
Qiu Yue’s eyes widen, visibly shocked by his words.
Xiang Liu smirks briefly before regaining his seriousness. Once they reach the sea, he commands Maoqiu to land on the nearest island.
As soon as they touch down, Qiu Yue quickly dismounts the bird, still shaken by what just happened.
And then, the pain he thought had disappeared returns: Xiang Liu feels the familiar sensation, like a needle piercing his heart, intensified by the young woman’s proximity.
The pain shoots through Xiang Liu, a familiar sting, stronger than ever. He grimaces, briefly clutching his chest before regaining his composure, hoping Qiu Yue hasn’t noticed anything.
But her wide eyes miss nothing. “Lord Xiang, are you all right?” she asks, her brow furrowed in concern. Her voice is soft, almost innocent, and he forces himself to push her away with a wave of his hand.
“Don’t come any closer,” he orders coldly, trying to conceal the pain overtaking him. “I don’t know what spell you’re using, but your presence burns me.”
Qiu Yue, taken aback, steps back. “A spell? But I… I’m not doing anything! I’m just a simple mortal, I’ve told you before!”
He straightens up, his expression closed, his eyes hard. “A simple mortal, you say? Then why, every time I approach you, do I feel this pain?” His red eyes, gleaming under the moonlight, seem to want to pierce her secrets.
She remains silent for a moment, her gaze troubled. “I don’t know… Maybe… it’s fate,” she whispers, her eyes shining with sincerity. “Maybe we are bound in a way you don’t understand yet.”
Xiang Liu lets out a bitter laugh. “Fate? Do you really think fate cares about a creature like me?” He steps closer to her, his face inches from hers. “If you want to play this game, Lin Qiu Yue, be prepared to pay the price.”
His warm breath brushes her skin, and despite the coldness in his voice, Qiu Yue feels her heart race. But she refuses to lower her eyes, lifting her chin to meet his gaze defiantly. “Maybe I’m ready,” she murmurs, a glint of challenge in her eyes.
He stares at her for a moment, unsettled by her boldness. “We’ll see,” he replies, abruptly turning away. “But don’t think I’ll let you get close without uncovering the truth.”
He leaps onto Maoqiu’s back, the eagle spreading its majestic wings, ready to take off. “Next time, be prepared to prove your intentions, or I’ll devour you whole.”
Before she has time to respond, he disappears into the night sky, leaving her alone on the island, the night breeze making her hair ripple under the moonlight.
Thank you for sharing @svdnss. I never finished Love Better Than Immortality. I think I remembered that the female lead mistaken the second male lead as the first man that she saw, when it was actually the ML. So she mistaken the 2nd ML as The One! Hmm, is that's also what's going on here, I wondered?

I'll take you!
No no, I only used the introduction of Love Better Than Immortality to bring the FL into the story, but otherwise it has nothing to do with it, she immediately recognizes Xiang Liu as the right one, however because of his deadly nature, it leads to complications for Xiang Liu, that's all! ? Thank you for your feedback!
Apart from that, if I may, does anyone have translated this fanfiction (https://archiveofourown.org/works/49991599), it's great! Unfortunately my automatic translator is quite bad, so if it exists in English or any other languages that do not use characters (Spanish, French, German or other) I am a taker please

What a welcome surprise to see more fan fic! I've been offline for almost a month, so I'm behind on everything. I'll definitely add it to the first post list, and hopefully will get a chance to read it tomorrow.

I don't know of any translations of LYF fan fic. I'm still hoping for an English translation of Tong Hua's Once Promised. :(
