Not exactly what you're looking for, but your ask reminded me of The Master's Sun. The FL can see ghosts, and the effect on her is similar to having a drug problem. She barely sleeps, doesn't look after herself, and often ends up acting like a crazy person. She becomes fairly desperate. The ML turns out to be her "cure". When she touches him, she doesn't see ghosts. Due to her situation, when the ML first meets her he just thinks she's a crazy, clingy, mess of a person. But after she is able to use him to manage the situation and get some decent sleep, she cleans up.
