I'm finding normal romances a bit boring at the moment so I'm looking for something a bit more dramatic with life-or-death situations. Something like Healer, Crash Landing on You, or The Princess Wei Young. Dramatic romance dramas where the ML saves the FL's life. If he does it more than once or if the FL saves him too, even better.

  • You who came from star - I even lost the count of times ML saving FL.
  • When camellia blooms - A totally smitten ML.
  • While you were sleeping
  • Happiness - Even though romance was slight but it was perfect.
  • Maiden holmes
  • The k2
  • Bring it on, Ghost
  • Goblin(You must already have watched it :)
  • Suparburoot Jorm Jon: Maturot Lohgan(A rare species in thai dramas)
  • My beautiful bride - ML's only goal in life was to make FL's life happier.
  • Bad and Crazy
  • My Name
  • Tale of the Nine-Tailed

When camellia blooms

This one has been on my PTW list for ages but I thought it was more of a slice of life drama. I didn't realize it fit this description. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

My Name

Can you describe the romance in this one / how big a part of the plot it is?

This happens no lie at least five times in The Story of Minglan. He saves her over & over & over again. Also, The Battle of Changsha, but this one is set in wartime so that’s really part of the plot.

Some other recs: The Princess’ Man, The Tale of Nokdu, Sound of the Desert, Cruel City, +1 My Beautiful Bride (so underrated).

My Name is more of a slow burn romance. It's not the main plot but the romance moments are sweet and memorable. Also this drama contains only 12 episodes.

That's the vibe I got from all the gifs I saw. I completely forgot that part of the synopsis ^^"

I'm intrigued, but I'm having trouble finding it on streaming service. Also, based on comments from its MDL page I'm not sure if this the type of romance + life saving combo I'm looking for where the romance is front and centre.

It sounds like the leads are very in love and devoted to one another, but their romance is shown in flashbacks and the drama is 90% + thriller with the romance being very secondary / mainly there to provide motivation for the ML. Perhaps a bit like The K2. Is that accurate?

Yeah...I myself not watch drama where romance is very less or in flashbacks...but I can assure you that you will come to love it...you will be surprised to see the lengths ML will go to protect and find FL...and would even be more surprised to see his devotion and love to her(despite her past)...but yeah, it is very heavy even more so than k2...there is desperation for survival.

If you’re still looking for it it’s definitely on dramacool (don’t think it’s on any legal platform tho)

I’d also say what you gathered from comments is a pretty fair assessment, but I usually get turned off by the kind of dramas wherein romance is only a plot device for character growth or action & MBB isn’t like that. It’s definitely subjective but for me the romance/couple were worth the watch, even if they weren’t front and center (the crime underworld was). I personally hold it in much higher estimation than The K2 especially romantically (and in terms of inventive/less cliched storyline) but who knows, you might prefer the other! Do give it a try when you have time to spare bc imo it’s fun.
