"Drama Shower" (ドラマシャワー) was an MBS time slot specialized in BL drama productions. The project was launched in April 2022 and it was originally a one-year limited project, but due to its success and popularity, MBS decided to renew it for another year. In March 2024 it was announced that My Strawberry Film would be the last installment of the time slot and that, as of April 2024, Drama Shower would be replaced by a new time slot called "Drama Fill". Drama Fill is a more generic time slot that includes non-BL series, as well (the first installment of Drama Fill is in fact the non-BL psychological thriller Ubawareta Bokutachi).

Drama Shower was a collaboration between MBS — the same broadcasting company as My Beautiful Man — and Tunku (トゥンク) — a new drama label established by KADOKAWA, which has many hit BL manga and novels under its belt. In Japanese "tunku" is an onomatopoeic word that suggests the sound of a pounding heart. The hope is that these BLs will take their viewers on an exciting journey, making their hearts beat.

I was not aware of this. Thanks for keeping us updated. Some of these shows I am not a huge fan of, but My Beautiful Man is definitely in my Top 3 Japanese BLs of all time. Number 1 is probably Old Fashion Cupcake.

You're welcome! :)

Oh, Old Fashion Cupcake is really good, definitely one of the best Japanese BLs out there! I rewatched it recently and it was so nice. My Beautiful Man has also grown on me with time.

I don't know if you have watched all the Drama Shower series, but in case you have missed some of them, I would like to recommend Eternal Yesterday and Jack o' Frost. Those are the best ones, in my opinion ^^

I dropped both of those. Lol. But maybe I should go back and finish those. I can't take the stress of it. It's not that they're bad. I just can't take the angst!! I am liking April In Tokyo Is, but I think the last episode will be real sucky.

Oh, I think I get it. I myself need to be in a very specific mood to watch and appreciate angsty or more serious series and I usually prefer lighthearted BLs. Nevertheless, I think that MBS does angsty (this includes My Beautiful Man) better than fluffy, that's why I've enjoyed Eternal Yesterday and Jack o' Frost the most. This was my personal experience with the Tunku dramas.
