Reviews
A mystery revolving around a long lost student
This show was definetly way better than I expected and the ratings made it out to be. I will just get to the different points here, being as vague as possible.Story:
The premise isn't something completely new but it turned out to be so much more interesting and also way sadder than it sounded at first. We follow the lives of those former classmates / friends and start to realize how they're far away from perfect or happy. Because of those ominous emails they all come together and try to find out the truth about their lost classmate from 20 years ago. This isn't a supernatural mystery show, it shows rather cruel realities and things happening between the characters and what happened in the past. It just felt very real to a point you just feel with the characters.
Only at the end I start to get a bit frustrated by one character's intentions since it seems just really stupid, but that's pretty much all I have to say made me a bit angry about the story.
Disregarding that, the ending was still a very good one and it gives the kind of closure you (may or may not) want.
Acting / Cast:
Because of Yamamoto Koji I started this drama since he's one of my favourite actors but all of the actors involved in this drama are really well casted and made the characters feel so beliebable and alive. Definetly the acting in this drama is what makes it even more captivating to watch, which isn't exactly a suprise since that's what actors are supposed to do, but still I wanted to just mention it.
Music:
This drama definitely relies heavily on the music, especially certain recurring tracks related to the story. It's all chosen well and even after watching I still have those songs stuck in my head! There's also one background track coming in at more serious moments that I've loved a lot. Soundtracks are to me personally really important and I'm really appreciating it when a show has such a nice soundtrack that's memorable too.
Rewatch Value:
Well, you see how I haven't given it a high rating for rewatch value but that's just to me, since I almost never tend to rewatch any shows or movies. Often I remember it all too well and get bored by rewatching something I still know, especially when it revolves around some kind of mystery.
Overall:
I still decided to give a 10 as my overall rating, it's one of the very few shows I've actually watched all in one session because it was so captivating and I enjoyed it that much. I can really recommend it. And maybe for the more emotional people get some tissues ready.
