My Top J-Dramas for 2024

Granted, there are many Japanese TV dramas out there which I have missed in 2024. I think that anyone out there who HAS watched every single J-drama must be as the Japanese say "KAMI," or a god! So in the future, if I run across a 2024 drama I missed, it may get added to this list.

Dramas with ratings from 3.0 (pretty much the lowest score I'll give) and 5.0 are ones that I was able to watch until the end. So, Tolerable. Dramas with ratings from 5.5 to 7.0 are ones that were Interesting. Dramas with a rating of 7.5 or 8.0 are Very Good. Dramas with ratings that are 8.5 or higher are Great, and belong in My Top 10 Japanese Dramas Ever list.

Regarding this list, 1122 Ii Fuufu and Shogun easily stand out. Personally, the 1122 story hit home for me. It's definitely not a drama for everyone, though. As for Shogun, you can't deny its production, quality, and level of talent. By the way, I read the original novel years ago, and watched the TV series as it first aired, so that may give you a clue as to how old I am! The cutest dramas were Bisque Doll, as Japanese call this work, and Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-senpai ni Koishiteru. Although Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san was cute in its own way, too. And the award to the most beautiful female actress goes to two people- Mori Kanna (Hiroko-senpai in Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-senpai ni Koishiteru) and Deguchi Natsuki (ML Futaba in Ao Haru Ride Season 2).
