1. Mr. Queen
Korean Drama - 2020, 20 episodes
a.k.a. "The No Touch Princess." After almost drowning, a playboy chef gets trapped in the body of a Joseon Queen. More gender-bending hijinks, a great cast, and a massively complex and beautifully written political and character background for everyone. Love it with my whole heart so far.

2. Splash Splash Love
Korean Drama - 2015, 2 episodes
Happy, cute 2 episode time travel drama with gender-bending hijinks. I watch this whenever I'm stressed or life seems out of control. Fun story, great cast chemistry.
-
3. A Frozen Flower
Korean Movie - 2008
Intense, violent, and R-Rated. No happy endings here. However, I found it to be an extremely compelling and well-made story.

4. Empress Ki
Korean Drama - 2013, 51 episodes
-
5. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
Modern woman gets trapped in the body of a past life after an accident, and finds herself in the center of political intrigue, and surrounded by princes who all want different things from her. Has an absolutely amazing, jaw dropping cast: Lee Joon Gi, IU, Kang Ha Neul, Nam Joo Hyuk, Baekhyun, and tons more. Would have given it a full 10, but the ending is a little weird.

6. Hwarang
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
Hidden royalty, political intrigue, and a great cast. Switches between light hearted fun and making you cry your eyes out with surprising ease. Highly recommended.

7. The King 2 Hearts
Korean Drama - 2012, 20 episodes
This one had a little bit of a slow start for me, but really pays off in the end. Great cast, great story line with compelling characters. South Korean Prince gets sent a military mission to improve relations with North Korea, but ends up making more trouble than he can handle with the (female) North Korean team leader.

8. The Last Empress
Korean Drama - 2018, 52 episodes
This series is dark, dark, dark, but I love it. It subverts the traditional Cinderella fairytale of the poor girl who catches the prince's eye by accident, and mashes it up with a hard-core revenge epic, because the Prince is actually a spoiled, entitled, piece of trash. Don't expect a grand romance here-- you won't get it. The ending is a little rushed and weird because of Choi Jin Hyuk's unavailabilty for the last bit, but I really liked this one.

9. Moon Embracing the Sun
Korean Drama - 2012, 20 episodes
Beautifully written and a classic for a reason - but be warned that you will cry your eyes out.

10. The Great Doctor
Korean Drama - 2012, 24 episodes
A plastic surgeon gets kidnapped from modern-day Korea to save the life of Goreyo's queen, and apparently can do any kind of surgery ever! This one has magic portals, mystic flutes, and requires you to just take on "faith" (lol) that any kind of modern surgical knowledge would make you a god in Goreyo, but it's fun and has some beautiful fight scenes. Not in any way historically accurate, and the political intrigue can be mustache-twirly, but I've rewatched it several times and always enjoy it.

11. Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
-
12. 100 Days My Prince
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
A Prince, who's trying to avoid marriage, decrees that all villagers of the appropriate age shall marry instead (to get rid of a drought). He gets attacked and left for dead by political opponents, and while he survives, can't remember who he is. His rescuer tells the Prince he's actually the FL's fiancee, to stop her from being punished for not having a husband. Hijinks ensue.

13. Princess Hours
Korean Drama - 2006, 24 episodes
-
14. The Tale of Nokdu
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
Unconventional gender bending hijinks for this one-- a man disguises himself as a woman and hides out in a village of widows associated with a Ginsaeng house to find out why assassins are after him and his family.
-
15. Mirror of the Witch
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
-
16. Rooftop Prince
Korean Drama - 2012, 20 episodes
-
17. Love in the Moonlight
Korean Drama - 2016, 18 episodes
Gender bending hijinks and some really fun banter and bromance. A fun watch.
-
18. Queen: Love and War
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Fun historical drama, but not as well-written as some. The political intrigue fell apart for me toward the end, which made it difficult to stay invested in the show.
