Ranking of 2018 dramas I've watched- updating
-
1. SKY Castle
Korean Drama - 2018, 20 episodes
*Which character frustrated you?Kang Joon Sang from Sky Castle.
This dude had everything! Family background, amazing job, of course money, and terrific wife and daughter and he just didn't appreciate that. So many times throughout the series I just wished he will toss a good word to his wife, about the effort she's making to hold on this whole household together. Some may argue with me on my next statement, but in my opinion, he was the WORST husband of them all. -
2. Thirty but Seventeen
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
-
3. Hide and Seek
Korean Drama - 2018, 48 episodes
Lee Yu Ri and makjang? Yes please!
This couldn't go bad and the chemistry between the leads was just on fire. I'm a romance type of gal and it was a bit lacking (hence the 9.5 and not 10) but the way they looked at each other from the very beginning totally drown me to the story.*Underrated 2/3 drama. The most recently watched out of the three. I really like the makjang genre and Lee Yoo Ri is the queen of it in Korea (she got a daesang for Jang Bo Ri while playing the second lead), so it's definitely worth the watch. I'm really happy the reviews didn't stop me from watching it, but the drama is truly for the ones who like this genre.

4. Bloody Romance
Chinese Drama - 2018, 36 episodes
*A drama that surprised me. I've seen countless Chinese historical dramas and just when you think you won't be surprised from a concept anymore, new one comes and blows your mind. That's exactly what happened with Bloody Romance. The story was so intriguing and special that I started ASAP reading the novel the show is based on (and just as fast stopped when I understood how provocative and more extreme than the drama it is). Totally recommend the drama to someone who's heart can bare difficult life situations.
Follow him towards this hurtful journey- -
5. Top Star Yoo Baek
Korean Drama - 2018, 11 episodes
-
6. Martial Universe
Chinese Drama - 2018, 40 episodes
Really enjoyed it and I'm very happy that I didn't take in mind the bad reviews on the dramas' page.
Very different type of drama, and the story really sucked me in even though I've started watching it for the leads- my girl Crystal and the man who is dripping in sex appeal Yang Yang. -
7. Martial Universe Season 2
Chinese Drama - 2018, 20 episodes
Romance tag? really? with a female lead who appears maybe in 6 eps of the season and dies at the end?
My heart is shattered and I can't stop crying.
If I knew it will all end like that, I would've never watched this drama :( I didn't sign up for this! -
8. Ashes of Love
Chinese Drama - 2018, 63 episodes
On the one hand, I was always eager to watch the next ep but on the other hand, I don't feel like their love story was that moving, my heart didn't skip a bit, not even once..
-
9. The Last Empress
Korean Drama - 2018, 52 episodes
What a drama it was. Throughout it all I was thinking who's the ML, but I think the ending cleared that for us.
I love makjangs, and one of the reasons for that is that only then you can see actors' real talent. I've seen them in countless project but Jang Na Ra, Shim Sung Rok and Shin Eun Kyung really gave the performance of their lives.
I'm so happy I never give up on a Jang Na Ra unni project, cause I really enjoyed this journey. -
10. Come and Hug Me
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
The story was super interesting but its' execution by the leads was lacking.
Don't get me wrong, Jang Ki Yong is a total eye candy, but his acting skills are not yet ready for such a melodramatic role (which Nam Da Reum, his younger version exceeded in portraying).
and I'm sorry to say that, but Jin Ki Joo is definitely not a lead material. It's obvious why even tho she's been working for-ever she still gets mostly supporting roles. -
11. Room No. 9
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
The sweeping bodies part was unnecessary but other than that it was a super interesting drama with magnificent actors,
-
12. The Rise of Phoenixes
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
Disappointing ending to an extremely well written drama.
Even though it was mostly about the political struggle, the writing was so on point that you didn't want to miss a thing. But, I think we could've lived without the last 15 eps or so, a bit draggy towards the end.
Also to anyone who's looking for a romantic drama (like I did), don't come near, since there's only one kiss and it's 7 eps before the end. If I would've known it, I might have not watched it.
But if I didn't watch it, I wouldn't have seen such an amazing acting spectacle.
I know Nini from previous projects, no secret she's so beautiful and great but first time for me seeing the ML and he's an impeccable actor. I think I wasn't this surprised from acting abilities since Ji Sung in Kill Me, Heal Me.
The actor was so immersed in his character of Ning Yi that it was difficult for me to understand what's reality and what's fiction. Not sure anyone else could've put such a show. Kuddos for him and I'm looking forward to seeing him in other productions.*Favorite actor discovered in 2021. The mesmerizing Chen Kun. Already when I wrote my review after completing The Rise of Phoenixes I've mentioned that it's been a long time since I was this surprised from an actor abilities (few years have passed already since Ji Sung's extraordinary performance in Kill Me, Heal Me). It's true that many actors are great, but some are just a level higher like Chen Kun. He was the character, felt, thought, acted. It was a pleasure watching him and I wish he would've done some shorter projects cause I really want to watch this spectacular performer once again in another production.

13. Mr. Sunshine
Korean Drama - 2018, 24 episodes
Very very beautiful drama.
As a granddaughter of holocaust survivors, more than once this drama brought me to tears for the parallel hardship that people have suffered by the ones who took their most basic human rights, the ones who saw them inferior to animals. -
14. Legend of Yun Xi
Chinese Drama - 2018, 48 episodes
The drama was absolute perfection for the first half, but it went pretty downhill from there.
The leads have some sweet moments but it feels like they have more of a family type close interactions than of a couple. -
15. Are You Human Too?
Korean Drama - 2018, 36 episodes
Seo Kang Jun, what a great actor. I've noticed him already in Cheese in the Trap and wrote a post about my expectations from him as an actor. He did the robot so believable it was crazy.
I'm a rationale person so I wasn't one of the shippers of the happy ending between the robot and a the human. Though, they looked so good together that at times I shipped her with the jerk human version of the robot. -
16. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
*A drama with good start and crappy ending. When this drama just began I was glued to the screen. I was surprised by the magnificent quality of it- the actors' ability and the plot obviously. I don't remember now, few years later, when it all went wrong but from some point in the plot, it started going quite rapidly downhill.
From a drama of 10/10 it definitely lowered to at most 6/10. Quite a disappointment. -
17. You Drive Me Crazy
Korean Special - 2018, 4 episodes
Cute show, the story though nothing special.
The ML's dimples are adorable. I don't really get all the hate the FL gets, she was nice and friendly. In my opinion, she didn't act like a child like others have said. -
18. The Eternal Love Season 2
Chinese Drama - 2018, 30 episodes
Had my hopes up since the first season was so dope, but this one doesn't come anywhere close. What a shame..
-
19. Oh! My Emperor
Chinese Drama - 2018, 21 episodes
Cute drama that was great at times while in others draggy.
I’m usually not a fan of the secondary couples but here even more since they got way too many screen time (which could’ve gone to our main leads).
Also, as someone who couldn’t survive The Untamed even when trying several times, Xiao Zhao is definitely the drama’s surprise for me. Such a great actor, so he’s popular for a reason lol -
20. Oh! My Emperor Season 2
Chinese Drama - 2018, 21 episodes
-
21. The Count of Monte-Cristo: Great Revenge
Japanese Drama - 2018, 9 episodes
I love the story of Alexandere Dumas but I can't say this drama makes a lot of justice to it. It was interesting but if let's say we'll compare it to the Argentinian telenovela, it doesn't come close.
Still it was quite refreshing to watch a Japanese drama, the first I think in at least 5 years. -
22. The Evolution of Our Love
Chinese Drama - 2018, 40 episodes
Very nice drama. Started it for the female lead but go to know the male lead. His acting skills are on another level. Planning to watch some other drama of his ASAP.
-
23. Kom Faek
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
Story is interesting but I didn't have the urge to watch the next ep, when one was over. I know it kind of contradicts itself, but that's how I felt.
Loved seeing tho real life cuties Mark and Kim, great chemistry obv and I was really curious how's it like when you film together and then go back home together- do you continue talking about the project you're making together? lol -
24. Lovely Horribly
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
I was a bit afraid to get back to it because of all the bad reviews but it wasn't that awful, even funny and interesting at times.
-
25. Todome no Kiss
Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
Can't quite figure out how this drama was voted as the second best Jdrama of 2018.
The story is pretty weird, the ML is an ass, and I don't know about you but I was really upset they have ruined the second ML's character, he was so cute at first.
Even the many kisses there won't save it for me. -
26. Memories of the Alhambra
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
-
27. Switch: Change the World
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
Your extremely old and used story of a prosecutor that goes after some drug mafia boss who has ties with the prosecution, high ranked politicians and more. I wouldn't even be surprised if this isn't even the first time of Jung Woong In acting in this kind of a story. It's all so repetitive that you won't believe for even a second (and you shouldn't) that the infiltration is real. They also kind of forget at the beginning that they're planning to give him a son and made him give orders for his execution more than once. Quite a problem, script wise.
I had a soft spot in my heart for Jang Geun Suk since my childhood but seeing him with grown eyes, makes me wonder what did I like so much about him? lol Maybe it's the voice? He should grab a guitar and I'll give him a second chance ;)
p.s Will we really won't know what's the truth about them being identical? Is it true that each person has 7 more identical clones running around somewhere in the world? -
28. The Beauty Inside
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Pointless and stupid drama with great music and good looking leads.
-
29. Todome no Parallel
Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
-
30. My Mister
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
I've tried it first over half a year ago and didn't like it. Yet my friend who LOVEs it urged me to continue and I found a pro of this show. I have trouble sleeping and I found that if I'm watching it closer to bed time, thanks to its' boredom, I fall asleep faster lol
I know it's a good quality drama and all actors were great, but as with Misaeng that I think has a lot of similar points, I just can't force myself to like it.
I really hated IU's character, she wasn't pitiful in a good way. and I've seen Nara in a few dramas till this day, but I think here her role was the most interesting and charming. I loved seeing the brothers (and the neighbors) connection and was upset for both Lee Ji Ah and Jang Ki Yong for playing hard to sympathize with characters.
Have to say that I really didn't understand why Oh Na Ra was so stuck on her high school boyfriend. Girl just move on!
Interestingly I was watching it while Lee Sun Kyun got himself into this drugs scandal which is pity since he's a great actor and just like with Yoo Ah In, it won't be easy to get back to this world.
p.s Thousand Roses is a originally a Russian song. but it was interesting to hear the Korean version as well. -
31. Dokgo Rewind
Korean Drama - 2018, 20 episodes
On my Ahn Bo Hyun marathon got to this drama (just don't make me watch Yumi's Cells- his haircut is scandalous). Except from all the fighting I didn't understand the concept of this mini drama. Boring AF
