comfort / fluff / wholesome BL shows
my top picks and recs for a nice, cozy watch. perfect for anxious people like me. minimum spoilers, just mentions of tropes that may/may not occur. also I watch a heckin' ton of Taiwanese and Thai BL's apparently
some of my favorite tropes:
misunderstood love rival (they are actually a secret shipper)
rivals to lovers
alleged unrequited love but actually they are both obsessed with each other
good communication (is this a trope?)
-
1. My Love Mix-Up!
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~30 min. each
In my personal opinion, this is the best of all time. I've rewatched it at least 12 times since January (it's currently May).
two main couples
high school setting
slight comedy
happy ending
things you may not like:
third act breakup, but it's resolved within the next episode
classic J drama with minimal physical interaction, but their chemistry is so good that I never really noticed
-
2. My Love Mix-Up!
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~1 hr. each
Can't mention one adaption without the other. This version follows the manga to it's end. where the J drama failed, it excelled and where it failed, the J drama excelled. both are a must watch in my opinion.
two main couples
high school setting
slight comedy
happy ending
things you may not like:
classic Thai drama with a lot of ads/sponsor mentions
-
3. Our Dating Sim
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~15 min. each
it's short, simple, sweet, and free to watch. so what's stopping you?
workplace romance
second chance romance / unrequited love
pining and yearning on all sides
no third act break up, thank god
happy ending
things you may not like:

-
4. Perfect 10 Liners
Thai Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
24 episodes, ~1hr. each
this one is so cute, I've also rewatched 7-8 times by now. lots of green flags in this show. hilarious side characters, fun cameos if you know Thai dramas.
college setting
multiple couples
comedy
solid friend groups
slightly spicy
pseudo love rivals (aka they were never really a threat)
happy ending
things you may not like:
one half of a couple decides to kiss his ex, where upon they both conclude they no longer have feelings for each other, but their pairing sees the kiss and it creates a brief conflict
the worst parents in the world award
-
5. Cherry Magic
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~1 hr. each
I watched an episode of the anime years ago and thought "eh, not my vibe" so I almost passed up on this gem! ... so glad I did not. it exceeded my expectations in every way but also was just the perfect serotonin boost I needed to keep going.
workplace romance
multiple couples
pure, unadulterated wholesomeness
green flags everywhere you look
happy ending
cat
things you may not like:
happiness??? lmao I haven't yet seen the J-drama version (yet) but I'm expecting some changes that OG fans may not like
have to use a VPN to watch
edit: I finally watched the J-drama and they weren't that different -- I actually prefer the secondary couple in this one more, hence its higher rating. but both are pretty solid :)
-
6. Duang with You
Thai Drama - 2026, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~1hr. each
when I first started getting into BL, this was currently airing and everyone was going absolutely insane for it. and yeah. I get it. I totally get it.
college setting
twoish couples
comedy
A-class friend groups
healthy communication
love rivals never stood a chance
happy ending
things you may not like:
a bit slow / boring at times
second-hand embarrassment because of Duang being an absolute simp for Qin
11th episode literally made me cry. you've been warned. (family related trauma)
edit: wanted to note that I had to watch this on VPN and didn't come across a single spicy scene so I'm not sure if I got a condensed clean version or if this show is just that pure
-
7. Kidnap
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~45 min. each
this might be the fluffiest of them all. literally Ohm has puppy eyes that make your heart melt.
greenest flag and he's a kidnapper
hurt / comfort
no love rivals
ML gets therapy and his boyfriend and family are supportive
low-key found family trope
happy ending
things you may not like:
if you're a toxic fan
feels like the work of fan-fiction (falling in love your kidnapper) but I'm not complaining
-
8. See Your Love
Taiwanese Drama - 2024, 13 episodes
13 episodes, ~25 min.
there are some really, beautifully intimate scenes in this one... say less
workplace romance
two main couples
spicy
non-impactful love rivals
comedy, especially the second couple
happy ending
lowkey some GL (hope that's not a spoiler...)
things you may not like:
cheesy plot (especially the ending... like are we a part of the mafia or something??? see my multiverse theory lmao)
-
9. Be Loved in House: I Do
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~25 min. each

-
10. First Note of Love
Taiwanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes

this is such an underrated gem. I love Neil's backstory and how they work together to overcome trauma. it's so sweet and cute
college / workplace romance setting
two main couples
great soundtrack
good communication
no love rivals
slightly spicy
happy ending
things you may not like:
wish they had fleshed out Sea's backstory more, along with the relationship between his boss and college senior (was something supposed to be going on there??)
-
11. MuTeLuv: “Hi” by My Luck
Thai Drama - 2025, 4 episodes
4 episodes, ~50 min. each
part of an anthology series (not necessary to finish the other stories) and holy fuck this might be the cutest thing I've seen this year. and I started watching BL this year.
high school romance
found-family friend group
so damn wholesome
good communication
relatable conflicts (ie lack of self confidence, pressure to do well in school)
things you may not like:
it's too short :( I wanted more!!!
third act break-up / miscommunication trope (but is quickly resolved. I mean it's four episodes, mate)
-
12. My Magic Prophecy
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~1hr. each
it's JimmySea, say less. and for new to Thai BL watchers... just trust.
workplace (kinda?) romance
two couples
inconsequential love rivals
slight comedy (Jimmy's drunk scenes were good but then Sea's??? THE BLOOD IS FLOWING, FLOWING, FLOWING)
happy ending
things you may not like:
the way P'Thap just forgives a certain person in the end ????? couldn't be me. (non-romantic plot line)
-
13. Semantic Error
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~25 min. each
a very cute and easy love story about a "bully" turned romantic partner. honestly Jang never really bullies Chu, he's just soooooo petty.
college setting
inconsequential love rivals
comedy
happy ending
things you might not like:
the petty bullying. but that ends almost as soon as it starts.
-
14. Boys in Love
Thai Drama - 2025, 12 episodes
12 episodes, 45 min. each
such a cute story, literally the most wholesome
high school setting
multiple couples
GOOD COMMUNICATION
relatable non-romantic conflicts (ie pressure to perform well in school)
slight comedy
happy ending
cat
things you may not like:
can be a tad boring / predictable at times
certain parents suckkkkk
-
15. Cooking Crush
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~50 min. each
this COOKED, please put OffGun in more fluff BL!!!
college setting
two couples
good, healthy communication
love rival stood no chance
female characters were not petty or annoying but cool / kind / thoughtful
only green flags
ML wears glasses the entire time / no "glow up" that gets rid of the glasses... it's a Christmas miracle
things you may not like:
the unfortunate realism that the school bullies get no comeuppance
the non-realism of both Fire's mom and Ten's dad recognizing their bad behavior / making amends
the "money" issue could have been easily resolved if Ten and his dad literally just talked to each other
-
16. Plus & Minus
Taiwanese Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~25 min. each
one of the first BL I ever watched and it holds up. also many fun cameos for Taiwanese BL fans.
workplace romance
two couples
childhood friends to lovers
spicy
wedding scene / happy ending
things you may not like:
third act break up for BOTH couples
children (lmao jk the child is unproblematic I just get weirded out when people be kissing with children nearby. please keep it wholesome, there are innocent eyes!!!)
-
17. School Trip: Joined a Group I’m Not Close To
Japanese Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~25 min. each
is this the first time anyone has ever complimented the MC for wearing glasses??? too bad he didn't wear them more >_<
high school romance
decent communication
no love rivals
solid friend group
sweet, soft vibes
halfway decent kissing for a J-drama
things you may not like:
could be viewed as boring
the fake out in episode 4-5
ended with a weird amount of time skips
-
18. Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Japanese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~25 min. each
this is the literal definition of wholesome. should I give the anime a second chance???
workplace romance
two couples
green forest
happy ending
cat
things you may not like:
Tsuge gave me second-hand embarrassment with how awkward he is lmao
third act break-up / 11th episode curse (very mild and temporary)
classic J-drama with no physical intimacy. personally I am fine with that, if you can't fake a decent kiss, then don't bother trying (@ the secondary couple. they also dead fish kiss in the special, too.)
-
19. Fourever You
Thai Drama - 2024, 17 episodes
17 episodes, ~45 min. each
I think I will never get sick of high school and college romances. They're always comforting.
two main couples
college setting
second-chance romance
two solid friend groups
slight comedy
happy ending
things you may not like:
first couple's story doesn't make a ton of sense at times (how did Ter think Hill was into his sister when they smashed???)
the overall flow of the show is a bit disjointed - the first five episodes solely focus on HillTer but before they get together / their arc concludes, then switch to the second couple and focus on them for a while. my take: they should have combined the two stories together to flow more naturally or pulled a P10L and focused on one couple at a time (which is what they did in season 2)
a lot of fans really hate Ter and find their story boring, but I liked it for what it's worth
the repetitive conversations! "do you like him" / "hmm I don't know" next scene: "do you like him" / "hmm I don't know" WE JUST HAD THIS CONVERSATION
-
20. Fourever You Part 2
Thai Drama - 2025, 24 episodes
24 episodes, ~ 55 min. each
arguably better than the first season, but maybe that's just because my favorite couple is in it lol
three main couples
college setting
unrequited love
solid friend groups
comedy
ghosts (not scary)
happy ending
things you may not like:
Season 2 made the right choice by splitting the couples up into arcs which the story flow better. that said, the first arc with Tonfah and Phoon starts off immensely sad, I did cry, so be weary of the first 2.5 epsiodes. but after? cute. fluff. comedy. Tonfah is the greenest of flags.
The final couple and final arc don't exactly fit in with the other couples. There's less friend cameos and a weird amount of mafia presence for a college romance. still liked it though
my own personal pet peeve was the inconsistency with character's hair not matching what it looked like in season 1, particularly when we were doing flashbacks. like yes, it may look better with how it is now, but be consistent please
-
21. My School President
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~1hr. each
kind of a cult classic and for good reason. GemFot have good chemistry and the plot is very cute and sweet.
high school romance
twoish couples
comedy
amazing soundtrack ngl
main conflict is not related to love
slow burn
supportive parents / goated moms
happy ending
things you may not like:
main conflict is not related to love LOL sometimes it loses track of its romance plot
if you cringe at singing then this is not it for you, mate.
-
22. Restart after Come back Home
Japanese Movie - 2020
movie, ~1 hr. and 40 min.
when you need a break from the BL formula, this is a refreshing and sweet love story to cleanse your mind
wholesome, fluff, comfort (3 for 3)
relatable conflicts of trying to find yourself
not terrible parents for once?
no love rivals
extroverted boyfriend x introverted boyfriend coded
things you may not like:
no real antagonists = not a thrilling plot (but does it need to be)
super slow burn romance - arguably romance is not the main theme
it's a J-drama aka the kissing could be better (but I've seen so so so much worse)
-
23. See You after Quarantine?
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~10 min. each
the story line is not long and I seriously recommend giving it a chance! it deserves so much more love than it gets, I swear-
love rival really does not stand a chance
unique way of story telling / interesting meet-cute
the greenest flag I SWEAR
happy ending
things you may not like:
the style in which it was filmed is very indie / unique. not everyone's tastes but I thought the Zoom meeting format was an interesting way to deliver a story about quarantine
very short episodes, you can breeze through the whole thing in an hour
-
24. The Ex-Morning
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~1 hr. each
they literally make out every episode XD and y'all are trying to pretend like you aren't obsessed with each other????
second-chance romance
workplace romance
Tam is a literal sweetheart and he must be protected at all costs
no real love rivals
no third act breakup
happy ending
things you may not like:
second-chance romance always has to walk a fine line between "that's a really dumb reason to break up" and "oh, wow, you should not forgive this guy" and unfortunately this series falls into the former half
Kaoki. Loved her character to bits, but I felt like they were trying to push a GL romance but the chemistry between Kaoki and Yong was too overpowering so they dropped the GL and switched to hetero but then they still didn't end up together??? and I'm so very confused about it
why are people always trying to kill journalists/reporters? first Candy Colored Paradox and now this?
-
25. 2gether
Thai Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
13 episodes, ~50 min. each
one of the OGs and it's pretty damn cute
college setting
multiple couples
slow burn, especially for the side couples
wholesome AF
happy ending
things you may not like:
third act breakup / introduction to a last minute love rival
that awkward high-five at the end (honestly the reviews made it sound a lot worse than it actually was. but it WAS awkward)
-
26. A Boss and a Babe
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~45 min. each
finally a show that has a boss / employee love story without a weird power dynamic (my personal opinion of course)
workplace romance
twoish couples
comedy (aka Book's character is so sassy and fun)
happy ending
things you may not like:
slightly messy plot
certain evils are not fully avenged
third act breakup (sort of)
-
27. BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen
Japanese Drama - 2023, 3 episodes
3 episodes, ~45 min. each
I actually could not stop laughing during this one. peak cinema.
workplace romance
COMEDY
two (?) couples
no love rivals :D
happy ending
things you may not like:
over the top acting / slapstick humor
very short
unnecessary miscommunication trope
-
28. I Cannot Reach You
Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~20 min. each
a very sweet and soft drama. so much yearning and pining done at a perfect pace :)
high school romance
friends to lovers
decent kissing for a J-drama
non-impactful love rivals
happy ending
things you may not like:
they introduced the sister character and her little lore drop was interesting, wished they would have expanded on her character a bit more
too much pining and yearning? possibly? if you're not into slow burn?
-
29. Revamp the Undead Story
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~50 min. each
normally, I'm not a vampire lover because of how angst those stories tend to be, but this absolutely ATE
supernatural romance
slight comedy
twoish couples?
found family trope
not scary or gory
low conflict between the main leads (Ramil & Punn)
happy ending
things you may not like:
if you squint at the plot for too long it falls apart (like the mind time traveling)
so cheesy, bring your lactose pills
Ramil is such a SIMP, I'm literally screaming at him to do his job lmao
-
30. Stay by My Side
Taiwanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
10 episodes, ~25 min. each
this is conditional that you also watch the "11th" episode, aka the special. I feel like it really wraps things up nicely.
college setting
supernatural romance (not scary)
inconvenient roommates to lovers
implied spice
things you may not like:
story ends with a cliffhanger unless you watch the special
two main love conflicts but both are resolved quickly, neither involve cheating or love rivals. it's more of a lack of communication because how do you tell people you can see ghosts? that's a toughy
-
31. Takara-kun & Amagi-kun
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~25 min. each
very fluff and cute, I can't believe I've been sleeping on this!!!
high school romance
popular x nerd
no lover rivals
no third-act break up
happy ending
things you may not like:
the ever-present miscommunication trope but at least conflicts are episodic
first few episodes are hard to follow with flashbacks / hard to tell when you are in a flashback
-
32. Candy Color Paradox
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~25 min. each
not wholesome per say because of the levels of spice (〃▽〃) ... but comfort definitely!
workplace romance
rivals to lovers
main plot revolves around solving mysteries
SPICE? GOOD CHEMISTRY? AND IT'S A J-DRAMA???
things you may not like:
falls into (dare I say) fanfic cliches? (saving someone from SA, threats of kidnapping when they are journalists LMAO)
third act break up. (some miscommunication leads to a fight for the entire duration of episode 7 and partially episode 8)
-
33. Fish upon the Sky
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~45 min. each
the side couple in this show is EVERYTHING
college setting
two couples
Kitty Gang = best friend group
comedy / breaking the fourth wall
slow burn
happy ending
things you may not like:
ungodly levels of second hand embarrassment. I'M LOOKING AT YOU, PI!
third act break up / 11th episode curse
the way they ruined Jan's character at the last minute
-
34. Love Is a Poison
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~20 min. each
ace attorney meets BL
workplace romance (sort of) (lawyer x con artist)
comedy / the talking plants!!!
main plot focuses on the lawyer cases
absolute loyalty and devotion
happy ending
things you may not like:
it is so very very anime-esque that it's almost cringe-worthy (you get the inner monologues and everything. it's beautiful)
Classic J-Drama that, once again, fails to give us any hint of intimacy
-
35. Love Tractor
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~25 min. each
the perfect thing to shut your brain off and enjoy :)
city dweller x country boy - a Hallmark staple truly
the epitome of fluff
slight spice
happy ending
love rival doesn't stand a chance
dog
things you may not like:
terrible dad
no real conflict = no real plot / can be boring
-
36. Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~25 min. each
please don't be alarmed by my "low" ratings, I just try to keep it real. (also 5.0 SHOULD be the equivalent to C tier, aka middle of the road, aka not that bad)
COMEDY
college setting
happy ending
fun, engaging storyline
green flags
things you might not like:
classic J drama with no physical intimacy except this one hits worse for me because "KISS" is in the title so you would expect there to be some kissing but no
-
37. We Are
Thai Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
16 episodes, ~1hr. each
literally has the best friend group of all time. period.
college romance
multiple couples
enemies to lovers
friends to lovers
comedy
happy ending
things you may not like:
so much cheese
love rival was such a nice dude and I feel bad for him
-
38. About Youth
Taiwanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
8 episodes, ~25 min. each
again, don't let my "low" rating fool you, this was actually very sweet and comforting, but also has the most realistic depiction of relationships.
high school setting
two couples
good communication between the main couple
realistic non-romantic conflicts (ie the pressure to do well in school)
happy ending
things you might not like:
the second couple LOL they're not that bad, but the second ML has trust issues which results in him overthinking why his partner dodged a kiss goodnight and it dragged on for a bit too long for my personal preferences, but the main couple totally makes up for it
bad parents?
-
39. My Tooth Your Love
Taiwanese Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~35 min. each
okay, yes the plot is a little chaotic but the sweetness behind our main leads is worth the watch.
multiple couples
cute, calm love story
workplace romance
happy ending
things you may not like:
too many couples and not enough screen time
actually the worst parent. and we forgive him? why?
-
40. Love Class Season 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
10 episodes, 25 min. each
season 1 is not required in order to watch. it honestly surprised me by how cute it was, given the animosity the first episode emulates.
college setting
multiple couples
unrequited love / second-chance romance
friends to lovers
minor miscommunication trope (not impactful, quickly resolved)
happy ending
things you may not like:
first episode is kinda of confusing / misleading ... don't take this show by its first impression
main couple's kisses are awkward (but the other two couples have great kiss scenes, borderline spicy)
last episode was so filler and random??? could of ended happily at episode 9
-
41. The Trainee
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
12 episodes, ~50 min. each
hear me out on this one. yes, there are a lot of weird stuff going on with the plot BUT if you focus mainly on OffGun's characters, it's pretty cute. and the friend group is fun too.
workplace romance
two? couples?
found family friend group
comedy!
no genuine love rivals (for the main couple)
things you may not like:
the weird GL fakeout
the secondary couple getting more screen time than the main couple
basically everything that happens with the second couple (I'm sorry Sea TᴖT)
almost like a hetero office romance disguised as a BL?
11th episode curse / large time skip
