  1. Autumn’s Concerto:A beautiful and passionate love story is interrupted for six years. Manipulative and controlling people change the destiny of Ren Guang Xi (Vanness Wu) and Liang MuCheng (Ady An) when a serious health crisis arises. Six years later, the consequences of being separated are revealed and their love story overcomes many obstacles based on lies, misunderstandings and betrayals. They have to find the courage to love each other and fight to stay together when the memories of their past becomes a clear picture in the present. Timing once again is everything when it comes to true love and cherishing those you love is the key to finding happiness. There were a lot of truly moving scenes and other scenes left me feeling warm and happy. Andy An can cry as MuCheng. I cried too many times and sometimes couldn’t stop for a while. Xiao Le (Benny Wen) made me feel so many emotions. I wanted to hug him every time he appeared on screen. The cutest actor I’ve ever seen in my life. Love the crazy ending which, at first, made me frustrated and upset. I liked the way it wrapped up the different storylines of the many characters.

  • Age of Youth Season 2

    101. Age of Youth Season 2

    Korean Drama - 2017, 14 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: This story takes place a year after the first season. Jin Myung came back from abroad and Yi Na moved out. Yi Na relocated to another city to manage a store. Their new, very tall, shy & insecure housemate, Jo Eun(Choi A Ra) had to learn to fit in with the others. Along the way, she found acceptance, lost a close friendship, and found a first boyfriend. A mysterious, threatening letter led her to Belle Epoque. Eun Jae(Ji Woo) had to learn to let go of her now ex-boyfriend, Jong Yeol. It was a painful lesson, but her housemates supported her and even threw her a breakup party. Jin Myung finally landed a job at an entertainment company. She tried to keep her professional & personal life separate. However, terminating the contract of an idol group became personal when she encountered Lee Jin Kwang(Ahn Woo Yeon). She was the key to make him face the reality of the end of his dreams as an idol. The "goodbye" performance was really heartwarming. Sadly, Ye Eun tried to pick up the pieces of her life after Doo Yeong, but a betrayal threatened her sanity and security. An act of kindness by Ho Chang(Lee Yoo Jin) helped her move forward and gave her courage to enter into a relationship with him. Lastly, Ji Won's memories from 3rd grade were connected to the letter Jo Eun finally shared with her housemates. Ji Won's repressed memory was connected to a traumatic incident that involved a friend and a teacher from the past. The cast goodbyes was a unique way to end the two seasons.

It took me a moment to realize the show came to an end. I felt like someone broke up a relationship through text or email. I was disappointed and unhappy. I felt there should’ve been another episode to tie up the storyline. Terrible ending because it left me hanging. Kim Go Eun (Hong Seol) and Park Hae Jin(Yoo Jung) play characters who hate each other when they first meet in college. Seol almost takes another leave of absence until Jung does a 360 attitude change towards her. They are both very smart but introverted students whose relationship blossoms into a romantic one. They are alike but different and often misunderstood by others. Misunderstandings cause a lot of problems for their relationship and relationships with others. By hurting others, they hurt themselves. I have to include Lee Sung Kyung who played the spoiled Baek In Ha and was a scene stealer. Seo Kang Joon played Baek In Ho who deserves more leading man roles. His character, In Ho, had depth and I felt the ups and downs he went through and I was cheering for him to be successful and happy. I would’ve given this show a better rating if the ending was better. Acting was great though.

  • Chasing Ball

    104. Chasing Ball

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 36 episodes

    8.0

Twenty years ago, a tragic love story unfolded around a scandalous table tennis competition. Twenty years later, Yan Xiao Xi (Bu Guan Jin) attends Tengyuan College in order to clear up her adoptive father's name. Arale Cui(young Xiao Xi) as the 6 year old, abandoned by her mother, pulled at the heartstrings. Beautifully adorable. It should be noted that most of the heartbreaking scenes happened in the rain. Xiao Xi is a talented table tennis player who attracted the attention of the college club's proprietor, Qi Jing Hao(Kris Fan). Their love story is like a furious flame that threatened to burn out with every new obstacle they encountered. Another talented player, Li Sheng(gorgeous Huang Sheng Chi) competed for Xiao Xi's heart. The best LOL scene was in the art class where Jing Hao & Li Sheng were models. The puppies fighting over a bone drawing was hilarious. Uncovering the truth behind the 20 year old school scandal led to some heart breaking, life-threatening & tragic consequences. It also threatened the present Table Tennis Club's chances of winning the National Campus Cup. Xiao Xi's lies and her biological mother's reappearance almost destroyed the life and love she wanted desperately to hold on to. The character, Gao Yang(JIng Hao's BFF) was a scene stealer. Also, this show was like watching beautiful male & female idols in a drama series, thanks to the young supporting cast. Lastly, the ending was a little rushed. The relationship between Xiao Xi & her mother deserved more storyline.

  • The Golden Eyes

    105. The Golden Eyes

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 56 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: Sadly, after 56 episodes, this show ended rather abruptly. However, it was a talented cast. Zhuang Rui(Lay Zhang: I'm a big fan of Mr. Gorgeous), who studied history in college, worked at a pawn shop. His fate was forever changed when a break- in led to an eye injury from a shard of an ancient jade relic. "Hold your breath and be still, and the eyes of wisdom shall see." He became the latest "golden eyes", with an ability to be "all-seeing." In a short period of time, he became a legend in the antique world, especially jade. However, his new-found wealth came with a price because there are no shortcuts in life. He and his friends became embroiled in the competitive world of jade and antique auctions. Unscrupulous competitors did anything to be #1 in the industry. It included sabotage, murder, & kidnapping. The discovery of the origins of "golden eyes" uncovered the truth behind the fate of Rui's grandfather & the final chapter of an archeological team decades before. The betrayal of Rui's mentor & friend was a high price to pay. The show went overboard with too many hostage situations. There was a huge missed opportunity for more romance between Zui & Fei Fei(exquisite Cici Wang). Their ballroom dance and two birthday celebrations for FeiFei were romantic. I wanted more, especially with all the globe- hopping & beautiful sceneries. I did like Fei Fei's fearless, kick ass character. Lastly, Wan Li Xin as Huang Fu Yun gave the show heart & soul. More Lay Zhang in romance shows, Please!!!!! Loads of X-Factor...

  • Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

Spoiler Alert: I loved this show! It is a sweet story about love, friendships & discovering joy in life. RaRa(Go Ah Ra) & Joon(Lee Jae Wook) met by chance &, due to tragic circumstances, met again & fell in love in the small town of Eunpo. Joon's big secret about himself threatened their relationship. It was a testament to the importance of being your true self. Their chemistry was undeniable. There was also great chemistry between Ha Young(Shin Eun Soo)& Seung Gi(Yoon Jong Bin). The main character, RaRa, brought joy to those around her and, in return, she found strength & comfort from her new friends. Jin Sook Kyung & her tight-knit group of friends became protective surrogate mothers to RaRa. Their "girl' club" vibe drew me in, feeling like I was a member & that I belonged. Some of the most touching moments included Mr. Kim, especially when RaRa played "The Maiden's Prayer" on the piano, his deceased wife's favorite. I cried with him during the cab ride, after the Christmas piano concert that Joon couldn't attend. It was truly heartbreaking when a health crisis led to Joon's selfless acts of love to protect RaRa. His letter to her,"I'm sending you the stars. I hope the stars shine down bright on your future." I cried my eyes out. Throughout the show, I laughed out loud, but I was also moved to tears. Mixed in were romantic moments & "aahh" moments. Lastly, Mimi, the dog, was the most beautiful, cutest dog (especially her expressions & outfits) ever! I fell in love with the cast, but especially unforgettable Mimi. I hope I see a lot more of Lee Jae Wook in future main roles.

  • With You

    107. With You

    Chinese Drama - 2016, 24 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: Because the text messages or written words didn't have English subtitles, it took away from important scenes and messages. However, the young, talented cast was incredible. The story follows the ups & downs of high school life in the early 2000's. Geng Geng(Seven Tan) & Yu Hai(Turbo Liu) became deskmates throughout high school. Yu Huai was an outstanding student while Geng Geng struggled in math & science. With Yu Huai's help & her own determination, Geng Geng became a better student. They developed romantic feelings for each other, but never confessed to each other. Lu Xing He (Wang Li Xin) is a rebel who fights to pave his own path, developed feelings for Geng Geng. He confessed to her in a dramatic , "explosive" way in front of the school, & never made it a secret how he felt about her. Unfortunately, his unrequited love remained one-sided. (Wang Li Xin was a scene-stealer. ) Geng Geng's heart only belonged to Yu Huai. Personal family obligations, a controlling mother, life choices, & a misunderstanding led to a ten-year separation, and Yu Haui disappearing. They meet again accidentally. Geng Geng, a successful photographer is "outstanding", unlike Yu Hai, who doesn't believe he can make her happy. In the end, they meet @ a place where they planted a tree, 10 years ago. Yu Haui wanted to finally get an answer, "Geng Geng. Sorry I'm late." This coming of age love story really brings back my own high school experiences and all the life choices that shaped my future. The friendships that developed drew me in and brought back memories, the good & bad. It is a testament to the chemistry between the cast members. Thanks for the memories.

  • Strongest Deliveryman

    108. Strongest Deliveryman

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    9.0

Spoiler Alert: I enjoyed this show! The backstories of the characters made it really wonderful. There was comedy mixed in with the heartbreaking stories. Kang Soo(Go Kyung Pyo) & Dan Ah(Chae Soo Bin) were in the restaurant delivery service for five years. Kang Soo, searching for his mother, who abandoned him & his now deceased father, never stayed at the same place for more than 2 months, until he met and fell for Dan Ah. When he found his mother, he discovered he had a younger brother. Dan Ah disowned her family, no longer willing to pay their continuing debts. After surviving a suicide attempt, she became a delivery person, like her female savior. Disillusioned with the lack of socioeconomic mobility in the country, she planned to save enough money to leave. Entitled JIn Gye(Kim Seon Ho) & Ji Yoon(Go Won Hee) escaped their controlling, stifling families. They learned how difficult it is to live independent lives without their parents' money. Ji Yoon eventually pursued her life-long plan to become a kindergarten teacher. For Jin Gyu, a near death experience became the catalyst that lit a spark and became a better version of himself. He learned empathy and recognized his own strengths, without sacrificing character & integrity. Later, when a big company threatened Kang Soo's ability to earn a living, he decided to open an employee-owned Strongest Man Delivery company, made up of his friends. The co. motto,"Be Nice" was an extension of Kang Soo's ability to give people hope. His past acts of kindness gained him many friends, who helped him overcome the continued threats to build a successful business. It was an uplifting story about people helping each other and paying forward many acts of kindness.

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

Spoilers: This had everything I love in a show, including the incredible, talented, beautiful cast. This is a beautiful love story between a mythical mountain god/nine-tailed fox, Lee Yeon(Lee Dong Wook(a perfect 10)& a human princess, Ah Eum(beautiful Jo Bo Ah). When a monster, Imugi, possessed the King, Ah Eum's father, she volunteered to be the murderous monster's new vessel. Her sacrifice led to heartbreaking choices & the tragic destiny of a first love. For centuries, Yeon looked for a reincarnated version of Ah Eum, whom he gifted with his "fox bead", in order to recognize her in her next life. Six hundred years later, he found Nam Ji Ah, a successful t.v. producer whose team investigates urban myths. Her parents' mysterious disappearance, 21 years ago, after a car accident, was tied to Yeon. Ji Ah believed in the existence of mythical beings & found a risky way to prove Yeon wasn't a human being. The OST lyrics,"I'll wander & find you again there under the blue moon..." was a romantic way to bridge their centuries-old destiny. When their tragic history threatened to repeat itself, Yeon enlisted the help of his friends & 1/2 brother, Rang(Kim Bum). The brothers' relationship included some of the most moving & cry-worthy scenes. The most romantic scene between Yeon & Ji Ah was in the Folk Village, billowing curtains on the bridge, and their first kiss. "You resonate in my silent heart. Blown & carried in the wind again." The dramatic conclusion was full of surprises & unexpected goodbyes. I loved every minute of this show!

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

Spoilers: From the 1st episode, I cried, because this story reached my heart. Be prepared to cry throughout the show because the acting was first rate. I am now a huge fan of Kim Seon Ho, who played Han Ji Pyung. His scenes with Kim Hae Sook (Grandma Choi) we're very touching. Their connection reached deep inside my soul, wishing Grandma Choi could be my Grandma. I loved the way Ji Pyung & Do San(Nam Joo Hyuk) played off of each other in their scenes together. I couldn't decide who should get the girl. Dal Mi(beautiful Bae Suzy, loved her acting & crying scenes) experienced tragic personal loss 15 years ago. Grandma Choi enlisted Ji Pyung's help to befriend Dal Mi through letters, using Do San's name. Ji Pyung just left an orphanage and owed Choi for providing him with a place to stay. When their parents divorced, Dal Mi lived with their Dad & older sister, In Jae, chose to live with their Mom. Years laters, the sisters are reunited, having lived very different lives. Dal Mi looked for Do San to help her appear like she's on the same level as her entitled sister. Ji Pyung found the real Do San to pretend to be Dal Mi's old pen pal. They learn the consequences of a relationship built on lies. The sisters made a bet to see who is more successful in 3 years and end up competing at Sandbox, a residency program to help mentor/train entrepreneurs. Dal Mi teamed up with Do San & his engineer friends. When Dal Mi found out about Do San, she had to listen to her heart to find out her true feelings. With the successful team outcome at Sandbox, heartbreaking choices had to be made. Three years later, Dal Mi, a CEO at his sister's company, is reunited with her old team. Her unresolved relationship with Do San overcame painful choices made in the past. I loved the way the story ended, the four main characters walking together confidently like the successful trail blazers they were.

  • 100 Days My Prince

    111. 100 Days My Prince

    Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes

    9.5

Spoilers: This period piece love story included an incredible cast, both young & old. First, Heo Jung Eun & Jung Ji Hoon touchingly portrayed young versions of Yoon Yi Seo & Lee Yool. Over a decade later, their sweet, but tragically heartbreaking story of first love continued. The consequences of a marriage law that the Crown Prince passed led to their reunion. When Crown Prince, Lee Yool(Do Kyung Soo), woke up from an attempted assassination, he suffered from amnesia. His savior, Yoon, Hong Shim's adopted father, gave him a new name, Na Won Deuk, a commoner injured during military service. Shim(former "Noble" Yoon Si Seo), played by Nam Ji Hyun, was forced to marry Won Deuk, whom she claimed was her fiance. As a commoner, both Won Deuk & Shim learned the harsh realities of life and the power of the nobility. Fragments of Won Deuk's memories slowly came back, but his heart never forgot his true self and his first love. Won Deuk and Shim developed feelings for each other, but their shared past and Won Deuk's recovered memories threatened to pull them apart for good. The forbidden love of a Crown Prince and his one and only love had to survive tragedy, infidelity, betrayal, & a struggle for power. For love, redemption & forgiveness was possible. Lastly, the amazing fight scenes throughout and heart-wrenching scenes of loss captured my attention until the very end. The most heartbreaking scenes were played out between Yi Seo and her brother, Seok Hwan aka Moo Yeon(Kim Jae Young). The tragic character of Crown Princess, Kim So Hye was movingly portrayed by Han So Hee. After his military service, I can't wait to see more of Do Kyung Soo. I want more roles for Kim Seon Ho as the leading man who gets the girl.

  • Something Just Like This

    112. Something Just Like This

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 47 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: I loved the beautiful cast! The chemistry between Duan Ran (Johnny Huang(I'm a fan)) & Qian Xi Xi(Wu Jin Yan) was very believable. They had a sibling-like relationship that started in childhood and became lovers as young adults. Xi Xi lost her mother at a young age. Ran's parents brought her up like their own daughter. The relationship Xi Xi had with Ran's parents felt genuine & heartfelt. However, the story behind Xi Xi's mother's fatal accident tormented Mrs. Duan, who had to learn to forgive herself and allow Xi Xi and Ran to stay together. Moreover, I really liked the friendship that developed between Xi Xi and Jiang Zhe Yang(Cao Yu Chen). Also, the friendship between Xi Xi & Jia Yun(Lulu Xuan) gave me soul sister vibes. Aside from the beautiful love story, the drama shows the difficulties of running an ecommerce business. When Xi Xi & Ran team up to run RUI LIVE, they encountered tough competition, obstacles, sabotage, scandals & betrayal. They learned that passion and ambition wasn't enough and understanding the industry was the key to success. For Ran, especially, he had to find his own path, separate from his rich father's influence. Later, the proposal scene was really beautiful and brought me to tears. This was a romantic and sweet love story. I totally enjoyed it and it left me with a great big smile on my face.

  • Private Lives

    113. Private Lives

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    9.5

Spoilers: This show was like a roller coaster ride where you couldn't get off the ride at the end. The incredible cast, including a very talented supporting cast, blew me away! First, I loved Tae Won Seok as a tough guy with a heart, Han Son. There was incredible, mesmerizing chemistry between Seo Hyun(Cha Joo Eum) & Go Kyung Pyo(Lee Jung Hwan). I'm already a fan of Go and I can't wait to see more roles for Seo. Also, the hot chemistry between beautiful, sultry Kim Hyo Jin(Jung Bok Gi) & Kim Young Min(Kim Jae Wook) was unexpected. Not to mention, the perfect 10 fashions on Hyo Jin. The story goes back to 2007 when GK Tech used secret shadow agents and illegal privacy practices to advance a corrupt "Kingmaker" plot. Corruption among officials and powerful figures were documented in a secret ledger and recorded on a phone. In the present, there are dangerous consequences for the main characters connected to the "Kingmaker" plot. The main characters include a newly-paroled con artist, a former mistress/murder witness, & shadow agents. It is also a love story between Joo Eum & Jung Hwan, who had to overcome the constant threats to their lives. Moreover, three male supporting actors stood out: Yoo Hee Je(lovable lone shark, Park Tae Joo), Kim Myung Hyun(righteous cop/detective Kim Myung Hyun) & Kim Min Sang(evil VP of GK Tech). I loved this show, but there were too many flashbacks, sometimes interrupting the flow of the story. Lastly, I wasn't crazy about the ending, I expected more, especially because Jung Hwan & Joo Eun looked stunning in their wedding attire. I wanted more romance!

  • Swing to the Sky

    114. Swing to the Sky

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 18 episodes

    7.5

spoilers: I thought this was a college love story with a diving competition back story. However, it's a love story about a mermaid, Yu Xiao Yu(Hu Bing Qing) and spoiled, self-centered, rich Ling Kong(Kris Fan). Xiao Yu lost her "dragon pearl", which she needed to go back to her world. It also leads her to her true love. She became Ling Kong's fake stepmother and they end up becoming diving teammates at Ying Lan International University. At first, Xiao Yu tried to help Ling Kong win the heart of another diver, Zhi Ya, but fell for each other instead. We find out Ling Kong's father has a direct, personal knowledge of merpeople. Ling Kong felt betrayed when he found out the truth about his adoptive brother, Ling Cheng (Cheng Shuo Nan). Moreover, Xiao Yu wasn't the only one of her species walking around among people. Unfortunately, merpeople can't stay away from the sea indefinitely without endangering their lives and becoming dangerous to human beings when they start to mutate. Ling Kong learned that love isn't selfish and had to think about what was best for Xiao Yu. "A mermaid's love is bound to be cursed." In the end, memories spent together had to sustain them. I have to admit that I expected a more creative ending to an otherwise sweet love story.

  • Jumping Girl

    115. Jumping Girl

    Korean Drama - 2015, 15 episodes

    6.0

I think this story was lacking in many ways, and the actors/actresses deserved better. Since most of the cast were former idol stars, knowing how hard it is for them to even debut , the script and storyline was weak and the show was too short. My son was a fan of Block B and shared their music with me in the past so I was sad to see them in a show that had a storyline that had so many possibilities, but the show didn't deliver. The bodyguard storyline and the college friends who fall for each other have so many possibilities, but the script wasn't great. I did notice that U-kwon has that special X-Factor on the screen and hope to see more of him in the future.

  • The Prince of Tennis

    116. The Prince of Tennis

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 42 episodes

    10

spoilers: I loved this show! It was one of my favorites. The amazing chemistry between the main characters of the Yu Qing Boy's Tennis Team was beautiful. It felt like a real brotherhood, especially whenever they lifted each other up. Of course, having so many good-looking cast members was a big bonus. Lu Xia (Peng Yu Chang), a 4-year International Teenager Tennis Tour Champion , transferred to Yu Qing from abroad. As a Freshman, he was chosen to be on the first team, like his Dad before him. His team captain, Mu Si Yang(Xie Bin Bin), saw limitless potential in Lu Xia and wanted him to become the team's "pillar." He had to learn to turn to his teammates for support and learned the importance of team work. He also had to find his own unique style of playing tennis, rather than mirroring his father's style. His father's past mentor, "Mr. Six" told him ,"Don't ignore the happiness in your journey." The road to Nationals was a team effort. All the members of the team had to find a way to play with heart and give it their best. Their personal stories gave depth to the characters and made me care. I wanted to cheer for the team. The dramatic match, at the end, involved Lu Xia, when he realized he loved playing tennis. Lu Xia's smile throughout the show, at unexpected times, was a show stopper. Also, I found myself laughing often because there were many LOL moments. The most memorable included "Yan juice" and Dad's culinary creations and strange drinks. Lastly, the budding first love between Lu Xia and Qi Ying(Ireine Song) was really sweet. I really didn't want the show to end because I really loved the main characters.

  • Flavour It's Yours

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 25 episodes

    8.0

spoilers: This is a love story between He Bu Zui(Ireine Song) & Lu Wei Xun(Simon Gong). An accidental kiss caused wine expert, Wei Xun, to lose his sense of taste & Bu Zui to regain hers. Bu Zui, the daughter of a former wine distillery owner, was the key to Wei Xun's recovery and unlocking his heart. She signed a contract to be his live-in assistant to pay off her father's debt. A perfectionist, Wei Xun's goal was to regain his mother's wineries from his father. It turned out that they had a shared past connected to Pear Blossom wine. A traumatic childhood accident was linked to Bu Zui's repressed memories of murder and betrayal. It was also a connection between Bu Zui and a High School crush, Yi Bei Dao(Dai Chao) who reappeared in her life, after seven years. Finding the answers to her past put her and others in danger. Being a wine enthusiast, I enjoyed this sweet love story. The love story between Bu Zui & Wei Xun was like a fine wine that gets better with time. In the case of Yi Nan Ke & Mi Ya(Zhang Yu Qing), their chemistry was like a smoldering flame that grew more intense. The Bai Jing storyline was unnecessary with all the other plot lines. Over all, I enjoyed this show and the beautiful cast was a big bonus, including Yang Ze & Jin Yu Bo. I hope to see more of the young cast in leading roles.

spoilers: Lin Xi Chi(Ireine Song) & Xu Fang(Gala Zhang) grew up together and went to the same University. Through the years, including Xi Chi's parents' separation, Xu Fang was always there for her. In college, their friendship blossomed into first love. Xi Chi, a popular student, was pursued by other students, including Senior Veterinary student, Ye Shao Wen(Li Chung Lin). Later, Yu Fang, Captain of the Archery team, had to go abroad to treat his "target panic." Xi Chi had to learn to accept that she deserved to be loved. The break up of her parents, years ago, made her insecure. Understanding, acceptance & forgiveness were all a part of her growth and becoming the best version of herself. She told Xu Fang, "I think I've met the most precious version of you in this world. That's why I must be the best version of myself, so I don't disappoint you." The proposal on top of the building with family & friends, including Xi Chi's mother, was beautiful. Xi Chi eventually accepted that she deserved happiness. "I will only deserve the best of you when I become the best of myself." Lastly, I need to credit Arale Cui, who played the young version of Lin Xi Chi. Her performance reached my soul, playing a little girl who dealt with issues related to her mother's abandonment.

  • The Love Equations

    119. The Love Equations

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 27 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: Zhao Fan Zhou (Simon Gong), a Forensic Science student, attracted the attention of Zhou Xiao(Reyi Liu), a Freshman Chinese Language student and online detective author. She grew up in a loving, healthy family environment. He grew up lonely with a Bi-polar Mother. Zhou Xiao brought light and happiness to Fan Zhou's lonely existence. Fan Zhou's confession and their first kiss was sweet. This drama included several romantic scenes like the illegal fireworks display, bubbles on the playground, and another confession involving kites. The story takes the viewer to a darker world surrounding bi-polar disorder and the hereditary risk that threatened to destroy Xiao's & Fan Zhou's relationship. Without Xiao, Fan Zhou's world is empty and colder. The storyline around Cai Ya Si's (Li Ge Yang) missed opportunity was heartbreaking and cry-worthy. Also, the chemistry between Zhou Xiao and her roommates felt genuine, giving off a very believable "sisterhood" vibe. In the end, with a little help from Fan Zhou's mother, Zhou Xiao had to learn to forgive, in order to accept Fan Zhou's love. Without watching the "alternative" ending, I think the story needed another episode to deal with Xiao's father. Over all, I really enjoyed this beautiful love story.

This is a great show for gamers and e-Sports fans. For myself, I know someone who majored in game art design. The realistic landscapes, lighting, and textures of the(not to mention sound) Glory game was very detailed, down to the shadows of the characters and the pores on their faces. Amazing! I'm in awe! Yang Yang's (Ye Xiu) ethereal, handsome perfection made him look like he was created by an artist. He won the "genetic lottery" and looks like a CGI-created human, just like his other show, "Love 020." I loved the great, good-looking cast. The competitions were dramatic and heart-stopping at times. After being forced out of his professional team (e-Sports is a game for the young and rookies are the future champions), the Glory game was a way for Ye Xiu to reinvent himself. He assembled a team called Team Happy. They learned life lessons along the way, like perseverance, teamwork, friendship. They also learned to make "the impossible possible" through hard work and passion. Glory was like a metaphor for life, where the individual team members were allowed to shine by being themselves and relying on others along the way to Glory. Team Happy's boss, Chen Guo(Maggie Jiang) fulfilled her promise to her father during the Challenger's League Championships. For members of e-Sports, quitting is not an option. I have to mention Shao Tian (Sunday Jiang) & Bao Rong Xing(Leon Lai) were scene stealers. "A single spark of Happy can start a fire."

    9.5

spoilers: First, the incredible cast made this show a beautiful coming of age story. This is one of those shows where it took a few episodes to get to know and understand the characters. They came from different backgrounds and different family situations, which shaped their views of their places in the world. It's about learning to believe in yourself, despite the suffering they go through because of circumstances beyond their control. It's about sacrifice, family, first love, heartbreak and friendships. Yu Zhou Zhou (Landy Li), Lin Yang(Steven Zhang), Ling Xiang Qian(Melody Tang), and Jiang Chuan(Zhao Hao Hong) are all students at Zhen Hua senior high school, but knew each other since primary school. The pressure to do well and get into a good University was an often painful and stressful growing period. Zhou Zhou learned to rise above the social prejudice and hatred surrounding her birth. Her close relationship with Lin Yang helped her become the best present version of herself. He was the "sun" that always shone by her side. Moreover, the story between Ben Ben & Mi Qiao was beautiful, sweet, and heartbreaking. I cried my eyes out! Through the lens of Mi Qiao's video camera, she captured the expectations of students who struggled to find their true selves and passions. Mr. Wu didn't want them to dream in monotone colors. Many years later, Qian Qian & Jiang Chuan finally get married. Also, Zhou Zhou & Lin Yang finally define their relationship after Zhou Zhou finally admits her feeling for Lin Yang.

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 30 episodes

spoilers: I was surprised how much I loved the characters in this show. Don't judge it based on the previews. Getting to know the heart of the siblings and how much they cared & loved each other made for a lot of LOL, heart-warming & heart-wrenching/cry-worthy moments. Shi siblings, Fen (Joseph Zeng) & Miao(Sun Qian) grew up with abandonment issues when their parents got divorced a decade ago. Also, rich siblings, Wan Sui(Hu Yong Tao) & Wan Xing(Ma Bai Quan) grew up mostly with servants/staff while their mother ran the family business that their estranged grandfather built. Both sets of siblings learned to lean on and protect each other, in the absence of parents. Wan Xing's 13th Birthday was beautiful, celebrated with sincere wishes among friends. Throughout the show were crazy antics/funny situations, balanced out with touching, pull at the heart strings moments. For example, I felt the pain of separation and emptiness when Fen left home to live with his mom. Then there was the accident victim hospital scene after Miao's confession on what her brother meant to her. The heart of the story was about love of family. Some of the lessons learned was forgiveness and not apologizing for being authentic. Some of the truly memorable scenes were between Shi Fen & Shi Miao, like the beach scene when Fen carried Miao on his back. Another was the welcome back hug that was really touching. I cried & laughed the next second when Miao firmly wrapped her legs around her brother. Lastly, the wedding dance scene among the friends (great chemistry among the young cast) was a fitting way to end the beautiful, sweet story. This resonated with me because of my close-knit siblings(12 of us) and our very busy parents.

  • Kiss, Love and Taste

    123. Kiss, Love and Taste

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 39 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: A renowned chef, An Wen Yu(Lu Yi) suffered from PTSD, after he witnessed his parents' fatal accident, which resulted in the loss of his sense of taste. Years later, he met Jin Jin Jin(Amber Kuo), whose search for her missing father, led to her mission to learn from Chef An the 12 flavors of Anjia. An accidental kiss sealed their destiny, Jin Jin being the anecdote & key to Chef An's recovery. After signing a contract, Jin Jin moved in with Wen Yu and became his apprentice. Chef An's journey to be the worthy heir to the 12 flavors of Anjia, that he thought was lost forever with his parents' death, included Jin Jin. They fell in love, but had to overcome obstacles and separation. Together, they found the 12 flavors of Anjia is a symbol of family and love and food is heart. Over all, this was a sweet love story. I'm a fan of Aaron Yan so he was a bonus, but I'm not used to seeing him not being the leading man. However, the chemistry between Lu Yi & Amber Kuo gave the romantic & crying scenes sincerity. I need to mention that the subtitles were hard to follow at times and not done very well. I almost decided to stop watching the show, but Amber Kuo drew me in.

  • My Holo Love

    124. My Holo Love

    Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    8.5

spoilers: First, I have to say that English voice dubbing took away from the show. I'm not a fan, preferring subtitles to dubbing. The show itself was an interesting love story between Han So Yeon(Go Sung Hee) and AI Holo and creator, Go Nan Do(Yoon Hyun Min). Is it possible for an AI to fall in love? The biggest lesson learned is that nothing can replace the human heart and human emotions. An AI can't solve loneliness and can never replace people. Nan Do & So Yeon were childhood friends who were connected by murder. The childhood trauma caused So Yeon's "face blindness", who grew up to become an introverted and lonely adult. Nan Do was the key to cure her PTSD. Nan Do's childhood abandonment trauma had profound consequences well into his lonely adult life. As a teen, he faked his own death to protect his AI creation, Holo, that was responsible for a cyber security crime. Nan Do resurfaced as an adult who created Holo, an AI with human traits made to be a "perfect being." However, the lesson learned is that people are social, imperfect beings who need other people. I have to add that the love story between Go Yoo Jin(Choi Yeo Jin) & Baek Chan Sung(Hwang Chan Sung) could've stood alone as it's own drama. They had incredible chemistry. The surprise group wedding photo was a great way to end the story. Over all, it was an enjoyable, thought-provoking show.

  • Lucky's First Love

    125. Lucky's First Love

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: Privileged & handsome Xia Ke(Xing Zhao Lin) and artist, Xing Yun, AKA "Lucky"(Bai Lu) faced many challenges together in the competitive mobile gaming industry. Xing Yun was considered TIG's lucky charm/mascot and was put in charge of a new "love game." To better understand the premise of the game, Xing Yun had to be in a relationship for the first time in her 24 years. When she dated Xie Ke's friend, He Yu(Zhai Zi Lu), Xie Ke had to come to terms with his feelings for Xing Yu. As with any office romance, especially with the boss, there were complications and consequences. Bai Lu mad the many LOL moments funnier with her many expressions, like a revolving door, that changed in an instant. Most of the funny moments were at the expense of Xie Ke, an easy target for being a cold, but warm-hearted boss. The chemistry between Xia Ke & Xing Yun was sizzling hot, which made for great kissing scenes. I also loved the chemistry between Yao Qing(Anna Hollen) & He Yu(Zhai Zi Lu). He Yu was handsome, charming & unforgettable. I loved his character! The office chemistry, especially between Xing Xun and her 2 BFF's was amazing. Lastly, the double wedding was worth the wait. Like the couples, it was beautiful. This show had romance, comedy and drama. So many beautiful people!

  • The Perfect Match

    126. The Perfect Match

    Taiwanese Drama - 2017, 22 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: First, be prepared to laugh a lot. Scene stealer, Lawrence Lu, as Peng Xiao Bin, made every scene he was in LOL moments, sometimes to the point of distraction. A fitting analogy is like a dog who sees a squirrel. I've never laughed so much during any drama. Also, Chris Wu, as Huo Ting En, was shirtless or in his underwear a lot, a big bonus for the female audience, including myself. This love story started with a 7-day challenge between Night Market "chef", Wei Fen Qing(Ivy Shao) and La Mure's Cordon Bleu-trained chef, Huo Ting En. Luckily, Fen Qing's perfect sense of taste made her a perfect apprentice. Their love for creating cuisine evolved into a love for each other. Their chemistry was hot and their kissing scenes were even hotter. A shared past that involved their fathers led to a very dramatic, painful break up. It was one of the most gut-wrenching break up I've seen in a drama. I felt the pain down to my soul. This is a story about family, friendships, love, forgiveness, sacrifices and second chances. I loved the floating, red, heart-shaped balloons during the beautiful reunion. This was so romantic and I enjoyed it. Lastly, I loved the beautiful fashions, especially Fen Qing at the wine party and the goodbye dinner. She has a very ethereal beauty.

    Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: Cha Joo Hyuk(Ji Sung) & Seo Woo Jin (Han Ji Min)were married with two young children. Disillusioned with his unhappy marriage, Joo Hyuk wanted a divorce. The once bubbly woman he married no longer existed and it terrified him. A spectral star named Wolf created a crack in space and time. When Joo Hyuk woke up, he'd chosen an alternate reality, married to college crush, Lee Hee Won(Kang Han Na). A mysterious toll gate was the entrance to his new reality. Joo Hyuk thought it was the married life he dreamed of, but he retained all his memories of Woo Jin. In the alternate reality, Woo Jin was a strong, confident single woman who was pursued by Joo Hyuk's best friend, Yoon Jong Hoo(Jang Seung Jo). There was an undeniable attraction between Joo Hyuk & Woo Jin in the new reality, which culminated in a do-over. When Woo Jin was faced with the painful truth that Joo Hyuk abandoned their marriage, she gave him a chance to put things back the way they used to be. She made him realize that he created the monster wife she became because he was too selfish not to see the pain she went through without his understanding and support. He had to learn to stop punishing himself for the failure of his marriages. I thought the proposal at the bank was romantic. "...you are my miracle and my salvation. I want to live for you again...Even if I go back again, I will choose you..." This show will make you believe in destiny. It made me think that life choices steers people in the path they were meant to take.

  • Love Cuisine

    128. Love Cuisine

    Taiwanese Drama - 2015, 22 episodes

    8.0

spoilers: First, there were 36 episodes. The show had too many flashbacks to tell a story. Michelin 3-star Chef Han Jie (Lego Lee)AKA Chef Oscar Han of Olives House went back to Taiwan to share his culinary arts with students of Sin Ping High School. He promised to fulfill his mentor's dream, after an accident ended his mentor's career as a chef. At the school, he met and fell in love with his mentor's daughter, Fang Xiao Rou(Allison Lin). Their relationship was tested when Xiao Rou found out her father's accident involved Han Jie. They had a year-long separation, when Xiao Rou studied abroad, to become a pastry chef. I liked the way the young students learned some of life's lessons from their teachers, but , in the process, the teachers also learned something about themselves. They formed friendships, and eventually learned to compete with teamwork spirit. There was great chemistry among the cast. The young cast made the "first love" stories believable & sincere. I especially liked the relationship between Qi Zhen(Venus Hong) & Mai Zhi(Ben Wu). It could've stood out as its own drama. I saw "rising star" potential among the cast, especially Ben Wu. Nita Xia as Pei Ying provided great comedic scenes. I loved the unconventional group wedding photo at the end. However, the blind date storyline was unnecessary. I did appreciate Chris Wang's guest role, but wished his role was bigger.

  • Chef Fang

    129. Chef Fang

    Chinese Drama - 2017, 36 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: This period piece drama was a beautiful love story between Fang Yi Shao(Michelle Jiang) & Shen Yong(Lei Mu). "Chef" Fang Yi Shao was lured to the Fang mansion (no relation to her). She was knocked out in order to switch places with Fang Yao, a bride in an arranged marriage to Shen Yong. Fang Yao didn't want to marry Shen Yong because of his bad reputation and undesirability as husband material. Slowly, I fell in love with Fang Yi Shao & Shen Yong as a married couple. Their evolution into a real loving couple was beautiful to watch. Yi Shao first won over her husband and in-laws through her delicious culinary dishes. Yi Shao accepted Yong's imperfections, and saw the good in him. Yong wanted to be a better version of himself for his wife and his parents fell in love with her too. Shen Yong's romantic words described how he saw Yi Shao, "In my heart, my love will only be you." He learned compassion from Yi Shao. Later, Yi Shao's ties to royalty and the question of her real parents' identity made her a target for revenge and danger. I loved the Kung Fu scenes between Yong and the Grandmaster, a former Imperial guard. Also, the wedding do-over was beautiful, especially the headdress Yi Shao wore. The period costumes were beautiful and exquisite, including the ceremonial "Princess" gown. Exquisite & beautiful describes Michelle Jiang perfectly. Moreover, the sets and settings, especially the lighting in the evening outdoor sceneries, were amazing. I loved the lyrics to the music and the food throughout the show looked delicious. This show was a feast for the eyes in more ways than just the food. I loved the cast!

  • Run On

    130. Run On

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    9.5

spoilers: This was a show with a beautiful, dreamy cast. The many relationships among the characters felt sincere and believable because of their chemistry. The 2 major love stories involved athlete, turned sports agent, Ki Seon Gyeom(Im Shi Wan)/translator Oh Mi Joo(Shin Se Kyung) and Seo Dan Ah(Choi Soo Young)/Lee Young Hwa(Kang Tae Oh). It was like a K-Pop show full of beautiful people & fashion show meets drama. The slow motion images of Seon Gyeom emphasizes his "x-factor" aura. Mi Joo & Seon Gyeom "clicked"from the very beginning. Together, they often left me breathless, but they had their drunk LOL moments too. Some of the best LOL moments included Young Hwan. Credit goes to the many faces of Kang Tae Oh. The cafe fight and the hospital autograph scene were hilarious! The "first love" break up scene between Young Hwa & Dan Ah was cry-worthy. I loved Dan Ah's strong character, especially when she kissed Young Hwa(I couldn't look away). Aside from the main stars, I saw future rising stars, including Choi Jae Hyun, Lee Jung Ha, & Park Sung Joon. This show will resonate for those who chose their own path even though their parents had their own plans. The other message was learning to tear down walls and loving yourself. Love isn't a weakness, but a strength.

  • Dear Missy

    131. Dear Missy

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 36 episodes

    9.0

Spoilers: I loved this BFF story between Lu Ke(Li Yi Tong) & Shen Si Yi(Gina Jin). A misunderstanding in high school created a temporary rife between them, but, years later, they patched things up, when they worked at Nouveau magazine. The genuine soul sister vibe resonated with me. They didn't always see eye-to-eye, but their strong bond showed that true friends are there through the ups and downs of life, career, and love. The love story between Lu Ke & handsome Zhang Mang(Sun Yang) was romantic, especially the "successful" proposal and crazy wedding. I was rooting for "Mr. Dimples", Zhang Mang. Moreover, the chemistry between Yao Yuan(Juck Zhang) & Shen Si Yi was like fireworks or a bonfire every time they shared the screen. Zhang, with his dreamy eyes and sultry voice, oozed sexy leading man. Also, Ye Zhou(Ji Li) was one of my favorite characters, who proved that nice guys really do get the girl. In this case, unique, independent Guan Yue(Anna Hollen). This story is about friendships, love, break ups, reconnecting, family, finding your passion, reconciliation, and forgiveness. Most of all, it's about accepting your flaws and loving yourself. The ending wrapped up nicely, but I didn't want to say goodbye to the characters.

  • Vacation of Love

    132. Vacation of Love

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 35 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: First, Lan Xiya as Wen Ruonan, in my opinion, is a rising star. She had some of the most heartbreaking scenes as a young girl who craved attention from her busy doctor(single)dad. This show followed the lives of several characters vacationing on Sanya, Hainan Island. I loved Bin Bin's (DaPeng) family, especially Grandma Chen(Li Ming Zhu). She was a unifying force for the multi-generation family with her wisdom. She pointed out their faults and, with her support, pointed them in the right path, including free will. Newly divorced Bin Bin & Xiao Ke(Zhang Jing Chu) had to learn from past mistakes and to compromise and cherish each other. Adorable Bin Bin really grew on me and I found myself rooting for him. His paragliding scene to win back Xiao Ke, including his admission of love, while conquering his greatest fear, showed how much he wanted to reconcile with Xiao Ke. For entertainment agent, Xu Ke Yi(Yao Chen), her ex's proposal to another woman was the end of her on/off 10-year relationship with singer, Gao Jun Yu(Zheng Yun Long). She met and fell for Hou Hao(Johnny Bai). Hou Hao lived a carefree life and tried to run from his past, until he realized he wanted a future with Ke Yi. They had some of the most romantic scenes together, including her birthday celebration, the aquarium diving apology, the helicopter "good morning" message & the drone message. Hou Hao thanked Ke Yi for showing up in his life when she was the best version of herself. Lastly, I loved the musical number at the end. It made me feel like I was experiencing the celebration in person. It was great timing since I watched the show during Chinese New Year.

    Korean Drama - 2020, 17 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: First, I loved the young, wonderful cast and their great chemistry as lovers & friends. This was like a reality show within a show. The viewer follows mainly 3 couples in their twenties. For Park Jae Won(Ji Chang Wook), he took a month long break from work, but extended it by another month. He met a carefree, uninhibited Yoon Seon-a(Kim Ji Won) and fell in love. For Seon-a, she tried to run away from her broken engagement and her true self by using someone else's name. They had a whirlwind love affair and "fake" marriage. A year long separation and an unexpected reunion revealed the real Yoon Seon-a is, in fact,Lee Eun-o. She wanted to find her true self. For Jae Won, Seon-a & Eun-o were all a part of the woman he loved. Together, they wanted to discover the rest of her in her journey to find the best version of herself. The other two couples were Choi Kyeong-jun(Kim Min Seok)/Suh Rin-i(So Ju Yeon) and Kang Geon(Ryu Kyung Soo)/Oh Seon-yeong(Han Ji Eun). Kyeong-jun & Rin-i were together for several years, but broke up when Rin-i wanted to live her life on her own terms. Seon-yeong & Geon broke up mostly because Seon-yeong had commitment issues. Over all, the lesson learned is that dating is a journey of discovery and timing is everything. As for true love, it is precious and should be cherished. The ending left room for a possible sequel?

  • Only Beautiful

    134. Only Beautiful

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    7.5

spoilers: The best part of this story was the young, beautiful cast, especially Gao Tai Yu (as Han Shao) & Xin Rui Qi (as Su Ye). Their love story started in High School, when Su Ye introduced herself to sophomore transfer student, Han Shao. An accident, that left beautiful, popular Su Ye with an eyelid scar, forever changed their destiny. While Han Shao left to study abroad, Su Ye became a young, confident successful young woman. She learned the beauty of life & the lessons from physical beauty. When her dying Grandmother gave her a magical lipstick, she was able to travel back in time. Every time she went back in time to change her destiny, there were consequences. However, it was undeniable that she and Han Shao were destined for each other. The story isn't complete without watching Season 2.

  • Only Beautiful Season 2

    135. Only Beautiful Season 2

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 12 episodes

    8.0

Spoilers: First, I loved everything exquisitely beautiful Xin Riu Qi wore on the show. The best part of Season 2 was the very romantic proposal when Han Shao asked Su Ye to marry him. It was uniquely meaningful. The rose petals in a heart shape and the balloon bouquets were pretty. However, the scrolls that represented Su Ye's important/memorable times in Han Shao's life was really beautiful. Also, I loved Tang De and Wan Zi together. Lastly, I really wanted a beautiful wedding at the end of the show. I'm glad Su Ye was the best version of herself. However, there were too many time traveling scenarios so the story didn't have a good flow. As for Ji Xiao, his character deserved more, but waiting for someone to return your love for 20 years is too long. He should be a character in his own love story. How about a spin off so Ji Xiao can find his happiness?

  • A Love So Beautiful

    136. A Love So Beautiful

    Korean Drama - 2020, 24 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: This was a truly beautiful love story between Cha Heon(Kim Yo Han:"Mr. Gorgeous) & Shin Sol Yi(So Ju Yeon). Their great chemistry gave their High School romance/first love a genuineness and sincerity as well as a sweet innocence vibe. Uptight, smart & very handsome Heon was no match for Sol Yi when she confessed her feelings for him in their Freshman year. Her bright/sunny demeanor grew on him and he found himself protecting and falling for her. In Heon's words, Sol Yi was "the right answer to his life." He had no other choice but her. Through the years, Woo Dae Sung(Yeo Hoe Hyun), a star athlete, watched over Sol Yi, but was always firmly cast in the "friend zone." I hope to see more of Yeo in leading roles. He had some of the most moving and, sometimes, heartbreaking scenes. The most memorable was finding his missing Grandma, who didn't recognize her own grandson. I cried along with Dae Sung. I loved Ha Young(Jo Hye Joo) & Jin Hwan(Jung Jin Hwan) together. Ha Young really looked like an "Angel" bride. Also, I loved the "idol"-ish wedding routine with Heon, Dae Sung & Jin Hwan. The young cast obviously had great chemistry, especially after seeing the outtakes at the end. "Cheers to our youth that were, are, and will always be beautiful." I'm looking forward to seeing more roles for the young, beautiful cast.

    137. Make My Heart Smile

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: When Ye Wei Mian's(Ji Mei Han) sister, Zheng Han was in a coma, after a car accident, Wei Mian took on her sister's identity in college. Pretending to be two different people was exhausting and not sustainable or realistic. Wei Mian had to work several jobs to pay for her sister's medical expenses. She had to guard her sister's dream, even at a huge physical and personal cost to herself, including her heart. Wei Mian didn't factor in falling for popular, rich & handsome top finance student, Gu Yan Luo. They were complete opposites, but Yan Luo was drawn to Ye's positive, high-energy. To help Ye, Gu paid her to be his live-in housekeeper. When the twin deception was exposed, Wei Mian learned that love meant facing everything together and cherishing each other. The viewer is treated to many romantic scenes, complete with fireworks. The many beautiful flower bouquets didn't compare to the young, beautiful cast. The other two love stories would make great storylines for other dramas. One of my favorite relationships involved BFF's, Wei Mian and fearless female Lu Yao(Leo Li). Over all, I enjoyed this drama. Loved the romance, love stories, beautiful scenes, and friendships.

  • I Fell in Love by Accident

    138. I Fell in Love by Accident

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    7.5

spoilers: This drama was short, but sweet. Zheng Min Wei(Xu Le Wei) was a workaholic who wasn't in a relationship. When he was ordered to see a relationship therapist, his mom found beautiful(also a workaholic) An Ran(Ye Yu Jun). They had a mutual attraction, but An Ran kept things professional and didn't think she was ready for a relationship. Min Wei cancelled his last two sessions and pursued An Ran. An Ran had her own relationship issues because of her parents' divorce. After rejecting Min Wei, his persistence paid off and she chose to take a chance on love. They cohabitated and had to learn to make adjustments and changes with hard work on both sides. There was another love story between their friends, Chen Man Man(Li Mu Yun) and Wu Hong Ji (Yu Hao Ran). Both beautiful couples had good chemistry, but I felt the story was rushed. The best scene had to be the lit up drones that spelled "Marry Me" with the ferris wheel in the foreground. Also, An Ran was beautiful in her wedding gown. The walls of flowers and cascading strings of lights really set the romantic mood. More love dramas need wedding scenes.

spoilers: The family beach scene towards the end should've been the ending...I was disappointed. This was a beautiful love story between a fortune teller's son, Tee(Non Chanon Santinatornkul) & a beautiful customer, Elle(Punpun Sutatta Udomslip). After Tee foretold Elle of the loss of a loved one, her mother died in an accident. It was a hard lesson to be grateful for the people we love while they are still with us. In Elle's grief, she lashed out at Tee and learned he was blind (due to an undiagnosed brain tumor). A fortune teller believes some things are predestined and can't be changed. In the case of Tee & Elle, Tee's father ( a widower) tried to prevent them from seeing each other, when he learned their fortunes clashed. Some of the most touching scenes included Tee's relationship with his father. Especially touching was the scene when blind Tee helped his father get ready for a date with Hong. Also, I loved the close relationship between Elle and BFF, Deary(Ampere Suttatip Wutchaipradit). Deary was my favorite character. Her fantasy scene with Elle's ex, Peak(Varot Makaduangkeo) was hilarious and their chemistry was undeniable. The entire beautiful cast was outstanding. Tee & Peak were breathlessly swoon-worthy. Over all, I was rooting for Tee & Elle, but was underwhelmed by the ending. What happened to love being stronger than destiny?

spoilers: Best friends since childhood, & born 1 day apart, Nian Meng Yu (Wayne Liu) & Lu Jia Jia (Li Ting Ting), fell in love with each other while studying medicine at the same University. They both had a long-term failed relationship with other people before they crossed over from best friend zone, straight into each other's hearts. Their decision wasn't easy because they didn't want to ever live without each other in their lives. The villa getaway with the flowers, balloons, and couples outfits was really romantic although the outcome was unexpected. Also, the LOL moments during the SARS quarantine included Meng Yu guarding Jia Jia's bedroom from Jiang Feng(Zhu Ran). The other was Meng Yu's stitched up cover over Jia Jia's sexy magazine picture to prevent Feng from seeing it and fantasizing about her. Later, Meng Yu's life-threatening head injury during their internship led to a 6 year break up. In my opinion, it was an unnecessary, but heartbreaking storyline. After a 2-year recovery period, and a misunderstanding, they were finally reunited for Mr. Nian's wedding. Jia Jia was a urologist and Meng Yu a successful businessman. After Meng Yu finally told Jia Jia about his head injury, he asked her if she could accept his imperfections. He no longer had a sense of taste and his OCD intensified. Without hesitation, she accepted all of him. Since her childhood, he was, after all, her description of her dream guy. Their chemistry and their story of unbreakable friendship and love was truly beautiful. I couldn't wait to get to the ending and I wasn't disappointed.

spoilers: I'm a SF9 fan so I might be slightly biased, but there wasn't a bad camera shot/angle of Ro Woon. His hair was even perfect in his slow motion running scenes. I loved this show! A beautiful talented cast. The many relationships came to clearly defined conclusions. The characters learned sometimes painful truths about each other and the courage to move on and learn to love themselves. The main theme was finding your true self and the courage to walk away from toxic/unhealthy relationships. The truth will always set you free. For Yoon Song Ah(Won Jin Ah) & Chae Hyun Seung(Ro Woon), they both experienced heartbreak and became involved in a not-so-secret office romance. The co-worker huddles re: Chae & Yoon were LOL moments. Later, Yoon's career choice led to a year long break up. When she came back to Seoul, from abroad, she had to prove to Chae how much she still loved him. I really liked the chemistry between Jae Woon & Ji Seung. Jae Woon was my favorite character. Scene stealer, Kang Ha Eun(Park So Yi) reminds me of little girls I know who are wise beyond their years. Lastly, I loved the ending when Chae(in tuxedo) looked over at Yoon in her wedding gown.

Only Pete knew the truth, which was revealed after Sandee's accident, at the hands of a psychotic young girl. Sandee & Thada had to come to terms with their true feelings for each other while struggling with decisions regarding their current relations with other partners. The possibility of a pregnancy threatened to derail their future as engineering students. Sandee's older sister, Sanrak, had her own personal issues and had to learn to let go of a cheating boyfriend. Her internship at Charisma was a journey in personal/professional growth, including a new love interest, her boss, Na. She had to learn to trust again. I loved the chemistry between Sandee, Thada & fellow engineer students, Pete, Kao & June. Also, Tew's(Kun Kunchanuj Kengkarnka) heartbreaking scenes were tear jerkers and very touching. Moreover, Chacha(Pop Khamgasem) was a scene stealer and Pop's outstanding acting made him my favorite character. I loved the ending!

spoilers: Alice(Neen Suwanamas) suffered from amnesia after falling from a tree. She was a dorky, tall student who was bullied in her High School. The key to her recovery was "crush" transfer student from abroad, Aston (Natcha Janthapan). Alice woke up every day forgetting everything so "post it" notes were used to remind her of her daily routines. Aston became her human "post it" who stood by her side during her most difficult times. Later, photos she took of Aston and another head injury brought her memories back. They were separated for a short time before Aston came back for Alice. It was a really sweet love story.

spoilers: This was one of the funniest shows I've ever watched. The 3 male leads, along with Mami(Esther Supreeleela) & her mother were hilarious!!! Mami is forced to confront the truth about her sexualtiy after her mother forces her female roommates out and 3 male roommates moved in. I couldn't get enough of the always changing and usually funny expressions that CU (talented Sean Jindachot) made. His chemistry with Mami made the LOL moments really funny and the romantic moments believable. Mami's cousin, LJ (Kitkasem Mcfadden) sometimes became a scene stealer, especially when he shared it with CU. Mami is drawn to CU and they eventually fall in love, but it is revealed that they were each other's childhood "first love." In adulthood, they became each other's one and only true love. I really loved this show! I especially loved the way the Ugly Duckling club of beautiful women got together to link the series together and provided the viewer with happy conclusions to the four love stories.

spoilers: The love story of Belle(Wanida Termthanaporn)& Kram(Hunz Ysariy Patharamanop) began in High School, when Belle first approached very shy Kram. Their story resonated because my future husband was shy so I asked him to lunch first and we've been together ever since. Belle's controlling personality led to a break up when she & Kram decided to open a Thai restaurant together, using recipes Kram's mother passed down to him. As revenge, Bell decided to hire Chef Arthur, who was in love with her, and opened a fusion restaurant next door, with the same grand opening date. Belle's goal was to run Kram's restaurant out of business, but it backfired. Kram turned to his intern, Mew(beautiful Meiko Chonnikan Netjul), to run his restaurant and they briefly dated. I fell in love with Arthur's character(Kacha Nontanun Anchuleepradit) and laughed at his bad singing because I knew Kacha was a singer in real life. His chemistry with Mew was beautiful. The triple wedding at the end was a surprise. However, I question how lasting Kram's & Belle's relationship is because of their polar opposite personalities. This was a sweet story with beautiful food.

  • The Charming Step Mom

    148. The Charming Step Mom

    Thai Drama - 2019, 26 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: I appreciated the crazy antics of the show's characters because comedic timing is a difficult art. The talented, beautiful cast pulled it off by their constantly changing facial expressions and sometimes exhausting physical timing. An example was Tammy's(Vill Wannarot Sonthichai) dance moves during Grandma's birthday party, even though it was mostly in her head. She pulled off dancing to music that alternated between slow and fast, faster and she looked like an idol in the process. Also, it must've been difficult to pull off a choreographed fight scene in the beginning, and make it funny. Although there were crazy antics throughout, the heart of the show was about a family longing for their Dad, Treeloj/San(Krit Shahkrit Yamnam) to come home after a long absence, because of work & the fall out and consequences. Tammy has an agreement with her older sister, Cherry, to pretend to be her and get to know Treeloj's kids and family. She wins their hearts by being herself. The youngest daughter, Nam Phueng(Maki Machida Sutthikunphanit) really pulled at the heartstrings and was a scene stealer. Not to be outdone, the silliest character, Shailai Pilas was played so well by Kratip Chawallakorn Wanthanapisitkul. She was a believable "stupid", but beautiful character that was unforgettable. I expected nothing less than the ending at the Sleeping Beauty castle. I wasn't disappointed with the only ending I wanted from this crazy love story. Did I mention the handsome male cast, too? There were too many to mention...

spoilers: I had many questions about this story. The only thing flawless were the men's complexions. Just keep an open mind because this is about free will, choices & love. Just believe that the impossible is possible. Human-like AI, Hu Li(Ao Rui Peng) was created by Kewen Ent. to be the perfect Idol. 2nd gen AI, Bai Dong Chen(Jackey Zhu),another Idol, was created to save Hu Li, whose chip was failing. The company planned to kill off Hu Li, but Dr. Yang, his creator, contracted Ji Nian(Rain Lu) to keep Hu Li safe and hidden. Later, it is revealed that Ji Nian is the company Chief's missing illegitimate daughter. Hu Li & Ji Nian fell in love and had to overcome challenges, including public opinion, after Hu Li's truth came out. Half older sister, Zhou Yi Fei(Huang Hao Yue) discovered her blood ties to Ji Nian and they formed a close relationship. Yi Fei fell for Bai, who chose to fulfill his mission to save Hu Li. It was a tear jerker moment. Later, Dr. Yang figured out how to save both AI's, but sacrificed Hu Li's memories. The goodbye at the beach, Ji Nian in a wedding dress, and a 5 year promise was heartbreaking. So was the goodbye singing scene between Bai & Yi Fei. Thankfully, the over 5 year separations culminated in happy reunions between both couples.

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 40 episodes

    9.5

spoilers: First, the English subtitles were terrible and made it hard to follow some of the dialogue, but the amazing cast made this show worth watching. I loved this beautiful love story between Mi Ka(Sandra Ma), a doctor, & Xing Ke Lei(Bai Jing Ting), a S.W.A.T. captain. Their first encounter was during a bank robbery when a masked Xing rescued Mi. This was an action-packed show which included earthquake rescues, a bus hijacking & dramatic brain surgeries. A shared near-death experience drew Mi & Xing closer. Mi fell for the man before she discovered the hero. I loved the romantic birthday surprise Xing arranged for Mi. The origami messages were beautiful expressions of Xing's feelings for Mi. The S.W.A.T. team/Ruan proposal message collab made with flowers and balloons beautifully set the romantic mood for the rooftop proposal. Moreover, I loved the chemistry between Shu Wen Bo(Chen Hao) & Ruan Qing Xia(Jiang Pei Yao): sweet love story full of charm. Lastly, I loved the fierce character,Xing Ke Yao(Zhang Yao), and her chemistry with Shao Yu Han(Wayne Wang). This is a must-see!!! I really enjoyed every episode.

spoilers: Liang Chen(Lulu Xu), an award-winning singer, and Lu Jing(Lin Yi), a handsome, popular & brilliant computer science college student were an unlikely perfect couple. They both pursued their dreams and eventually became each other's inspiration and biggest source for support. Their relationship first played out and developed through gaming before they eventually met in person and fell in love. The elaborate real-life gaming scenes draws the viewer in with great special effects. It had a "James Bond"-like feel through music, fashion and beautiful CGI landscapes. My favorite was the meteor shower/fireworks in the 2nd mission. Lulu Xu & Lin Yi had incredibly hot chemistry on screen, often leaving me mesmerized and breathless. The airplane episode toward the end was heart-stopping and made me believe this wasn't going to end well. Also, I loved the rapport between Lu Jing and his crazy, lovable dormmates. Moreover, I loved the chemistry between adorable Sun Bin Yu(Harry Hu) & Ma Shan Shan(Zhong Dan Ni). Lastly, I think the viewers will fall in love with Lu Jing's grandparents. I loved this beautiful, romantic love story!!!

spoilers: Three confirmed bachelors partied with many different women with no attachments or commitments. Ark(Sean Jindachot), a nude photographer, slept with many of his female clients. He met ID(Donut Manatsanun Panlertwongskul), an air hostess. Their relationship changed when ID moved in because of an unplanned high-risk pregnancy. Lone Wolf, Ark, learned to reinvent himself and love filled the void of loneliness and emptiness. For Bank(Hunz Ysariy Patharamanop), womanizing and partying came to an end when his mother hired a new secretary, Pang/"four eyes"(Bifern Anchasa Mongkhonsamai). He learned to become a good, responsible adult when only Pang could fill his lonely heart with love. Many of the LOL moments were courtesy of Bank (sometimes his antics brought me to tears because he was so funny). The women's airport bathroom proposal was hilarious! Lastly, Trai(Nut Devahastin Na Ayutthaya) was dumped by his girlfriend because he was too controlling. He met Mind(Gypsy Keerati Mahapreukpong), who was secretly hired by his friends, Ark & Bank, to help Trai get over the painful breakup. Mind, a psychiatrist, used unconventional methods to help Trai, but the doctor fell in love with the patient. When Trai found out Mind's identity, he had fallen in love with her and didn't want anything to do with her. He eventually gave her permission to help him with his imperfections and learned that he deserved to be loved in spite of them. This was very entertaining and I could just imagine the cast having a great time with the making of the show.

    9.0

spoilers: During the Tang Dynasty, over 1,000 years ago, the love story between ill-fated couple, Zhong Kui(Mike He)& Meng Po(Ivy Shao) ended tragically. The Prime Minister, Lu Chi's(Anson Chen)obsession with Meng & eternal life spanned a thousand years. He escaped his ice prison to wait for the next 9 star alignment & his next chance at eternal life with Meng and ruling over the 3 realms. In the present, reincarnated Meng & Zhong are gods in the underworld, until she is held hostage and ended up in the Human Realm, minus her memories. Zhong Kui, the Devil Punisher, found Meng 3 mos. later. The love story of this reincarnated couple is revealed and Meng's past memories eventually restored, along with consequences for her immortality. Meng's BFF, Enxi(Jane Cheng), is Zhong's reincarnated sister and the key to Lu Chi's evil plans. As expected, there is an epic, pre-destined battle between good & evil and the death of some of the characters. One of my favorite characters was Ouuyang Kai(Roy Cheng), a scene stealer, who brought me to tears. If you believe in reincarnation and the power of faith and love, this is a beautiful love story. Personally, I loved the ending & the great, talented cast.

    Thai Drama - 2015, 12 episodes

spoilers: This story was about a group of friends who inspired each other to pursue their dreams. Earth came back to Bangkok and reignited his relationship with Toey. A brain tumor & a car accident caused Earth eventual loss of memories. Toey, an aspiring director, stood by him, making new memories together. Earth helped Toey realize her dream. He was inspired by his friends and became a published author who wanted to inspire others. Nick's unrequited love for Je Tiame inspired him to become a successful singer. After Je Tiame's painful break up with "Mr. Perfect", she pursued her dream and eventually opened a bakery & taught classes, with Nick by her side. Jes had to find the courage to be true to himself & his sexuality & pursue his dream of opening up a hair salon, instead of his father's dream. Khom, my favorite character, was like their "uncle" figure who kept them firmly grounded in reality. The 2 health scares at the end were heart-stopping moments, but the proposal made up for it. The message of overcoming fear to go beyond your dream really resonated. It is true that people inspire others to become the best versions of themselves. Lastly, I wish Nick's beautiful songs were subtitled in English. There were interrupted moments with the abrupt use of OST, which ruined some of the show's flow. Over all, I think this was an underrated show and I enjoyed it, especially the messages.

spoilers: This was a love story that was Heaven-sent. It was about a man who left behind the love of his life and their son. Han Bi Soo(Lee Min Ki) was supposed to die when he was hit by a truck, but was given a chance to live and love until he vanished from existence. He was a misunderstood screen writer who fell for Oh Joo In(Nana), the leading actress in his new show. They were complete opposites, but his writing style changed when he fell in love with her. They faced many challenges and a break up, but learned to live life with love and created beautiful, unforgettable memories with the time they had left. Moreover, Bi Soo was given the gift of time spent with his dying mother so she could face her own mortality with her son by her side. There were LOL moments, including scenes with Bi Soo & rival, Yu Jin(Kang Min Hyuk). Also, romantic moments like Bi Soo's use of pressed flowers to decorate Joo In's door and love messages. With a show about death, expect moving, gut-wrenching scenes, including a living funeral. The final scene between Bi Soo & Joo In was heartbreaking & the dream sequence made me believe there was a different outcome. Lastly, the shocker was the identity of the mysterious man in white. I didn't see it coming. Over all, this was a beautiful love story. To love and be loved is a great life.

spoilers: The love story between Mo Ze Chen(Peng Chu Yue) & Xia An Sheng(Han Mu Yi) began in high school. An Sheng was a transfer student who became his desk mate. A widower workaholic father left Ze Chen craving for attention & lashed out in his loneliness. An Sheng inspired him to be a better person. An Sheng suffered from Dark Phobia, caused by a childhood traumatic incident which involved step cousin/fellow student, Yan Mu. He was the key to her recovery. Yan Mu let go of his hatred toward his cousin & stepmom(An Sheng's aunt) after discovering the truth behind his parents' divorce a decade before. He fell for An Sheng who only saw him as a brother. The school's proactive stand against bullying & violence was inspiring. The most heartbreaking, cry-worthy scenes involved a bullied student and later led to a traumatic incident that set back An Sheng's phobia recovery. For the sake of her recovery, Ze Chen decided to study abroad before graduation. It was a devastating event for An Sheng. They were reunited 5 years later at their friends' wedding. Their interrupted love story continued. Ze Chen became a CEO & An Sheng, a psychologist. It wasn't until An Sheng almost lost Ze Chan again did she realize she couldn't live without him. He was truly the light in her life. Heartbroken Yan Mu decided to take a job abroad. The story ended with a beautiful kissing scene at the beach where Ze Chen first confessed to An Sheng. Their chemistry was undeniable. I loved this coming of age love story!

spoilers: This is the story of four couples. Miao(Grand Kornpassorn Duaysienklao) & Tuan(Ak Akarat Nimitchai)get married and learned to compromise & accept each other's flaws. Jom(Pango Jintanutda Lummakanon) & Kiao(New Chaiyapol Pupart) are instantly attracted to each other, but they decided to deny what was in their hearts, in order to do the right thing for the people they were in a relationship with. Jom got engaged to hotel-owner, Pu(Yong Armchair), but their differences eventually tore them apart. Kiao tried to prove to his actress, fiancee, Saen Sanay(Gypsy Keerati Mahapreukpong) that he was worthy of her by working for her domineering dad. They had a very public break up when they realized they didn't live each other enough and Kiao confessed he loved Jom. Lastly, Kem(Dan Worrawech Danuwong) had to find the courage to admit he loved his neighbor, Jane, a divorced mother. (Jane & Kem were my favorite couple.) Kem had to face the responsibilities of parenthood and all the baggage that came with Jane's past. I loved Kiao's proposal on the balcony of the new house he built for Jom, aptly name "Castle of Star". It was a great ending with most of the cast on the balcony, under the stars, & Pu & San on the same plane (a foreshadowing of a future together, their destiny).

spoilers: I'm a fan of The Nine, and I really loved Esther Yu as Chu Li in this romantic love story. The cast was amazing. The chemistry between Esther & Ryan Ding(Zhou Chuan) was like an instant spark that burned hot throughout the show. I also like the friendship between Zhou Chuan & Jiang Yu Cheng(Yang Shi Ze). They had some of the best LOL moments together, especially when it pertained to relationship advice. As an editor, Chu Li, was fearless, persistent, sincere, insightful, loyal & passionate. She saw books as works of art and respected the hard work of authors. As an intern at her dream company, she became Zhou Chuan's editor. Later, they became housemates, which led to a romantic relationship. For Zhou, "I was captivated by the light", which described Chu Li. She gave him validation as a great writer and never gave up on him when rumors & sabotage threatened to derail both their careers. The support of friends and family helped them weather the storm and they emerged stronger and brighter. I was touched by the awards scene between Zhou Chuan and his father, and the reconciliation and validation that followed. Lastly, the New Year's fireworks proposal was beautiful. I appreciate it when a show wraps up the storylines of the many characters like this one did. Esther's "X factor" really made this show great.

  • The Rational Life

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 35 episodes

    9.5

spoilers: I'm a fan of Dylan Wang(Qi Xiao) & Qin Lan(Shen Ruo Xin). Their on- screen chemistry was like a spark that grew into a flame as the love story developed. In her early 30's, beautiful Shen was an independent, strong, driven legal expert at Genpro Automotive. When she hired Qi Xiao to be her assistant, she found someone dependable, protective & loyal. Although 12 years older than Qi, Shen finally found someone who brought out her authentic self. More successful men pursued Shen, but only Qi gave her the courage to love. He was her warmth in an often cold world with all its norms and expectations. The most moving and pivotal scene was dinner with Shen's mother, a divorced, single mom. Shen and Qi expressed how they saw each other through the eyes of love. Later, when Qi pursued his jewelry design dreams, he described how Shen inspired him(at the awards presentation) "...love may be the universe's unimaginable miracle." His words described their beautiful love story. This drama was supported by an incredible cast. I especially loved Lin Xin Yi(You Si Jia) & Chen Peng Wan Li(Su Yang). Their story could've stood alone as another drama. Both have that "X-factor" and deserve main roles in their future. Also, the love story between Zi Yan(Bao Wen Jing) & Cheng was touching and both actors were incredible. Lastly, I loved the relationship between Shen & her mother & Qi & his mother. Both actresses gave beautiful, moving performances. I loved this show!!!!

  • Mad for Each Other

    160. Mad for Each Other

    Korean Drama - 2021, 13 episodes

    9.5

spoilers: I am crazy about this show! The performances of the incredible cast brought out the uniqueness of the characters and storyline. It was highlighted by the emotional roller coaster of the 2 main characters, Lee Min Kyung(Oh Yeon Seo) & Noh Hwi Oh(Jung Woo). It allowed the viewer to enter through an open window to experience their emotional journey. Hwi Oh, a Violent Crimes Division detective, suffered from PTED(post traumatic embitterment disorder). He needed psychological clearance to be reinstated into the force. Lee Min Kyung suffered from a serious trust disorder after a married, narcissistic ex-boyfriend abused her. She ended up living next door to Hwi Oh. At first, their interactions were a series of misunderstandings. After Hwi Oh caught a neighborhood pervert, who flashed Min Kyung, their relationship changed. Over soju, Min Kyung revealed her painful past to Hwi Oh. He was the first person she learned to trust & he gave her courage to fight back. He stood by her when she was victimized by social media haters. I loved the way the Women's Assoc. rallied around Min Kyung when the truth came out. I wanted to join them during their girl's night out. It begged the question who the crazy ones really were? Later, Min Kyung's ex stalked & kidnapped her, which brought out Hwi Oh's anger issues as he fought to protect & rescue her. They went through a break up, but Hwi Oh didn't give up. His love confession as he apprehended a wanted criminal was hilarious! Afterwards, they had a separation to give Min Kyung the time she needed to confront her demons and trust that she deserved to be loved. I highly recommend this show!

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes

    8.0

spoilers: I liked the sweet romance part of this drama, even though some of the storylines were a bit farfetched. I especially enjoyed the chemistry & romantic stories of the 3 couples, Ren Qi (Jasper Liu)& Shuang Jiao (Shen Yue: I'm a big fan), Dong Xian(Charles Lin)& Qian Qian(Huang Si Rui) and Zhu Yan(Su Meng Di) & Jun Jie(Yan An). Gu Ren Qi suffered from a type of PTSD called mysophobia, which stemmed from years of insecurity & distrust. His grandfather, the key to his cure, never acknowledged Ren Qi's accomplishments, and always expected nothing less than perfection. Ren Qi built a successful business that used both manual labor and AI technology to clean homes & businesses. New employee, Shi Shuang Jiao lost her mother and became the bread winner for her father & younger brother. She was special because Ren Qi seemed to be immune to her, able to physically touch someone for the first time in years. They fell in love, but the truth about Shuang Jiao's mother's death was connected to Grandpa Gu. Ren Qi's proposal to Shuang Jiao was ended abruptly, followed by a break up, until Grandpa Gu was cleared. My favorite scene was Ren Qi's birthday meal at Grandpa's. It symbolized the acknowledgement of past mistakes and the hope for a brighter future. Grandpa Gu finally acknowledged Ren Qi's accomplishments. Finally cured, Ren Qi's second proposal in a hot air balloon was successful. It was the first time Shuang Jiao told Ren Qi she loved him. Happy endings are a must in any romantic drama.

    Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes

    8.5

spoilers: This show isn't for everyone. However, I found myself laughing throughout the 12-part series. For instance, the cameo appearance of Ha Ha (Running Man) at the beginning was hilarious when he was doused with food on his head more than once. The LOL scenes came one after the other, barely giving me time to catch my breath. Being a K-pop fan, it was hilarious how they poked fun at the trainee process because Got 7 alum, Choi Young Jae(as Sam), (G) I-DLE's Minnie(as Minnie), 2AM's Jung Jin Woon, & CLC's Choi Yu Jin were all part of the crazy cast. Minnie's withdrawal from an agency because she wasn't allowed to eat anything she wanted or date is real in the world of K-pop, but the trainee phone numbers she collected was really funny. The show follows the relationships between college friends who lived in an international dorm. The main characters, Se Wan(Park Se Wan), a Senior and the resident advisor, and Jamie(Shin Hyun Seung), an American Freshman of Korean descent, fell in love. Jamie's adopted American actress mom let him attend school in Korea so he could have a normal, peaceful life, away from the spotlight. Later, public opinion almost broke them up, until Jamie's mom appealed to the public. I loved the chemistry between Minnie & Sam and all the relationship musical chair among their group of friends. At the heart of the series was friendship, first love, heartbreak, & rising from adversity. The chemistry among the cast of friends really gave the show heart, their friendship was believable & sincere. Be prepared to laugh!

    163. Her Private Life

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

    9.5

major spoilers: This show had an incredibly beautiful/talented cast. Even though I figured out all the revelations, I laughed a lot & cried during some of the touching moments. One (as Cha Shi Ahn) lit up the screen with his perfect smile and idol good looks. However, the beautiful &, at times, sizzling on screen chemistry between Park Min Young(as Sung Duk Mi) & Kim Jae Wook(as Ryan Gold/ Joon Jae) kept me riveted to the screen. They had some of the most romantic kissing scenes. Genius artist, Ryan, moved from N.Y. to his native S.Korea as the new director at Cheum Museum of Art. He fell in love with Duk Mi, the head curator (& a Sian fan page master) who was connected to his childhood abandonment trauma. Adopted as a boy, he was unable to paint for the past 3 years when he came across a painting that was linked to his bio-Mom. A series of 9 paintings unlocked the real story that led to his adoption, Duk Mi's family involvement, and the discovery of 1/2 bro, Shi Ahn. In the process, Duk Mi's suppressed memories of a younger brother was revealed. I loved the proposal,"...Duk Mi, more than anyone in this world, I wish to paint your happiness by your side." I loved the entire show, but I had a few questions. Why weren't Ryan's adoptive parents in the show? Who was his bio-Dad? Why didn't Ryan & Duk Mi get married before going to New York? A beautiful wedding & beautiful couple makes a show even better.

spoilers: Two years ago, Asia's beloved actress, Oh Yoon Seo(Yoo In Na) was embroiled in a career- changing drug scandal. It was a stalking case of a rejected fan who was out for revenge. In the present, Yoon Seo's plans for a comeback included a 3-month job at Always Law Firm as top attorney Kwon Jung Rok's(Lee Dong Wook) secretary. Yoon Seo won the hearts of her coworkers with her sincerity and hard work. Jung Rok fell in love with Jin Shim(Yoon Seo's real name) for her inner beauty & strength, despite her painful public criticisms. Yoon Seo tore down Jung Rok's cold facade and fell in love with a thoughtful, warm-hearted man. He protected her and helped her finally bring down her stalker, when he resurfaced. I was in tears when they broke up for a short period. Yoon Seo showed Jung Rok they were stronger together. Their relationship was finally revealed at the comeback drama launch party. Warning: be prepared to laugh throughout the show. I fell in love with the crazy characters at Always Law Firm. Oh Jung Se, Shim Hyung Tak & Park Kyung Hye were scene stealers. A bonus scene included Shim's ab scene, WOW! The amazing cast will truly "Touch Your Heart."

spoilers: Mafia-themed shows don't usually interest me. However, I was drawn to this drama from the moment Song Joong Ki appeared on my screen. His mesmerizing portrayal of Mafia Consigliere Vincenzo Cassano kept me glued to the screen. His screen chemistry with Jeon Yeo Bin(as lawyer Hong Cha Young)was like a hot flame that had the potential to heat up the screen. The staged marriage proposal kiss for example. A favorite scene was Vincenzo on horseback, in slow motion. His scenes with his mother were very touching and tear-worthy. The entire cast had to be one of the best I've ever seen. The evil characters were really evil and all the back-stabbing was like a half marathon to see who had the darkest soul & who survived to the end. As a 2PM fan, Ok Taec Yeon as Jang Jun Woo/Han Soek was perfection as a truly evil psychopath with the face of an angel. Kwak Dong Yeon's(as Jang Han Seo) amazing portrayal of the bullied younger brother whose insecurities & loneliness made him long for validation was heartbreaking. So was his selfless act to save Vincenzo, whom he idolized like a real brother. Also, I loved the plaza tenants. The talented cast made me care and appreciate the uniqueness of each character. The many LOL moments throughout was an unexpected surprise, but is a tribute to this unique, special drama. The many staged scenes kept me guessing what was real or not. It is a definite must-see!!!

spoilers: I recommend you keep an open mind when you watch this drama series. Yu Chi Yan(Ren You Lun) saved a white cat from getting run over by a car. He took in the female stray cat who took on her human form as Xiao Xiu(Gia Ge) from Meow Planet. Because Chi Yan saved Xiu's life, she couldn't go back to Meow Planet until she granted him a wish that had to be his truest desire. The problem was he had no desires or cravings, content with his quiet life as a bookstore owner & author. An unsolved killing of a cat(Xiu's sister) a decade ago was connected to the disappearance & poisoning of neighborhood stray cats. Lin Mo, (Zhu Min Xin) also from Meow Planet, spent the last decade trying to solve his lover's (Xiu's sister's) poisoning. Dr. Luo, Chi Yan's mentor, was the key to solving the cat poisonings from the past and present and the current cat disappearances. When Lin Mo mistakenly thought Chi Yan was the culprit, he unsuccessfully tried to kill Chi Yan. The legend of the "cat seal" was revealed, which protected Chi Yan. When a trap to catch the real culprits went terribly wrong, Xiu's life hung in the balance. Chi Yan finally made his wish to save Xiu. As a consequence, his memories of her were erased. When Xiu woke up, her memories were intact. She refused to give up on Chi Yan's ability to retrieve his memories of her. Moses, the first cat on Meow Planet, appeared to them and revealed the secret of the cat seal. It was her last wish to protect her forbidden lover and his Chi ancestors from harm. When a Chi ancestor fell in love with another cat, the power gave them the gift to stay together forever. This had romance, humor and heart. It was a love story, but it was also about family, friendships and letting love in.

spoilers: First, I'm a big Ateez & SF9 fan so this drama was a "9" before I started watching it. Choi Jong Ho is one of my fav Ateez members with his incredible, powerful voice. I loved him as Shax member, Hyuk. As Sparkling member, Lee Yoo Jin, Ateez's Jeong Yun Ho proved he should be the leading man in future shows. This drama was a glimpse into the world of K-pop trainees who face almost impossible odds of debuting(.1%). The physical & emotional toll it takes to debut requires unbelievable personal, sometimes inhumane, sacrifices. Also, the fans hold their idols to a higher moral code & dating is usually discouraged. Favorite Shax member, Kwon Ryok(Lee Jun Young) & Tea Party member, Lee Ma Ha(Jeong Ji So) were forced to date in secret. When they eventually broke up, for the good of their respective groups, it took courage to decide to stay together. At the MML concert, they collaborated with others to honor the sacrifice of others whose star deserved recognition. The words of their song, "Constellation" was a beautiful message of love and validation and brought me to tears. It was a reminder that, with validation, the human heart is resilient, passionate, & unbreakable and love transcends all. This show was like a love story for all the K-pop trainees, idols and fans. To the trainees, "Fighting!!!"

spoilers: This story is for those who love a romantic story of first and everlasting love. Professor Zhang Si Nian(Miles Wei) failed Yun Shu(Xu Ruo Han), when she showed up over 5 minutes late to her thesis defense, which she needed to graduate from college. That morning, she signed papers for home ownership, which turned out to be a scam. Her cousin scammed her out of her life savings, given to her by her late father. The house belonged to her professor. After a chance meeting with Si Nian's sick grandfather, Yun Shu agreed to be Si Nian's fake girlfriend. Later, Si Nian & Shu agreed to a one-year contract marriage to fulfill Grandpa Zhang's last wish. In return, Shu gets title to the house. Grandpa thought they were perfect for each other because Shu's warmth was what Si Nian lacked. His life revolved around math & work. Si Nian gave Shu confidence and validation. When another man fell for Shu, Si Nian came to terms with his true feelings for his wife. I have to add that Lawyer Meng's birthday song for Shu, at the piano, left me breathless. Also, the competition for Shu's heart was sometimes fierce. Happily, the contract marriage became a real marriage. It was briefly threatened by a woman from Si Nian's past, which was a case of unrequited love. I loved all the love stories and the characters, especially Grandpa Zhang. It had a great and beautiful cast. I enjoyed this show!!!

spoilers: As young children, Lu Fang Ning(Zhou Yu Tong) gave Ling Rui(Simon Gong) HOPE during his darkest days. Rui's "white queen" promised her "little teacher" she'll marry him in the future, when she made more money. An amusement park token was the deposit. Years later, Rui, a handsome, kind-hearted doctor, agreed to enter into a contract marriage with Fang Ning. Their chemistry was incredible. Fang Ning was a CEO, her father's successor, after her elder sister's death, on Fang Ning's 18th birthday. The contract marriage turned into a real marriage. However, they divorced & separated for 6 years after a company takeover. Fang Ning left the country so Rui could realize his dreams of continued studies abroad. When she returned to China, she had her own furniture brand. She faced the consequences of keeping her son, You You(Ha Ni), a secret from Rui. Ha Ni was the most adorable scene stealer. Fang Ning, a strong confident, independent woman, had to learn to trust that Rui would always be by her side. They agreed to start over & remarry. They never stopped loving each other. The other scene stealers were Ping & Lu Yi Yao. Gorgeous Garvey Jin's facial expressions & comedic timing, especially during the gym scene, made for unforgettable LOL moments. Thanks for the shower scenes, too. Li Si Qi' portrayal of Ping as airhead with a heart of gold, made her a favorite. Lastly, the proposal, after the birthday party, was beautiful and left me breathless. This was a beautiful love story with heart, brought to life with a perfect cast. spoilers: I suggest using your imagination and keeping an open mind about some of the far-fetched storylines. I really enjoyed this beautiful love story between Yuan Yuan/Eva(Judy Qi) & Dong Shen(Derek Chang), which began when they were children. Tragically, they were young victims of a gas explosion at a restaurant that killed Dong Shen's father & an employee. Afterwards, Dong Shen suffered from a psychological disorder where he lost his sense of taste. Yuan Yuan suffered from a rare disease that caused her to gain weight. After being separated in high school, their star-crossed love story continued a decade later. Dong Shen became a chef/President at Qing Corp. Eva became a fashion model with the same disease. She discovered she could eat food Dong Shen prepared for her without turning into the fat version of herself. The "power of love" was the key to cure both of them. With Dong Shen beside her, Eva stopped running from herself and courageously told the media about her painful story living with her disease. Later, the truth about the restaurant explosion 2 decades ago answered many painful questions and helped mend relationships. I loved the wedding at the end. Moreover, Eva's dresses, throughout the show, left me in awe. So beautiful! One flesh-toned short dress in tulle/chiffon was my dream dress. For me, the show's message came from Dong Shen when he described true beauty which comes from the heart..."Be free to live." Freedom comes from loving yourself first.

spoilers: Unknowingly, Qin Yu Yue(Hu Yi Xuan), He Qiao Yan(Miles Wei), & He Wei Fei(Lennon Sun) crossed paths 5 years ago. In the present, Yi Yue, a psychologist, had an instant connection to Wei Fei. Wei Fei stopped talking 5 years ago, after his parents were killed in the car accident, making Qiao Yan his legal guardian. Yi Yue signed a marriage contract with Qiao Yan with the ultimate goal to cure Wei Fei. However, their "fake" relationship became a real one. Yi Yue was the key to uncovering the truth about the accident, which involved Qiao Yan, whose lost memories were the result of PTSD. Company alliances & Qiao Yan's lost memories threatened to break up their happy family. It turned into a murder investigation. I fell in love with Lennon Sun, one of the cutest actors I've ever seen. I guarantee that he will melt your heart. The father/son outfits were over the top and added to Sun's cuteness factor. The beautiful cast had amazing chemistry, including between Sun, Wei & Hu. Personally, even though they weren't a couple on the show, I thought Sheng Hui Zi(as Yang Ruo Wei) & Wu Chen Xu(as Ning Fang) looked good together, when they shared the screen. Over all, this was a beautiful story about unrequited & true love, family, & friendships. Lastly, I loved the strong female roles.

spoilers: Years ago, Ye Fei Mo(Lawrence Wong) was saved from drowning by a young woman whom he mistakenly thought was Han Hui, a rookie actress(because of her butterfly birthmark). Cheng An Ya, Fei Mo's mother didn't like Han Hui because she broke her son's heart years ago, when she chose her career over love. Cheng did like Wen Xiao Nuan(Xu Hao), who looked like a younger version of Han Hui. She hired Xiao Nuan to be her son's fake girlfriend when Han Hui , a popular actress, returned to China, years later, to pursue Fei Mo. When Xiao Nuan became Fei Mo's real girlfriend and the company's lead actress in training, she was labeled Han Hui's "substitute" in both acting and love. Fei Mo fell in love with kind-hearted, hardworking Xiao Nuan and she helped make him be a better man. In turn, he helped her become a confident, better version of herself. He found "pure love", not a substitute. Later, Fei Mo is saved again from drowning and realized his real heroine from years ago was Xiao Nuan. While I predicted Fei Mo's heroine, I was surprised why he saw a butterfly birthmark on her back that wasn't there in the present. While I loved this story, the cancer scare wasn't a necessary storyline. There was enough going on in the show. I did love the surprise proposal after Xiao Nuan made her decision to take the acting job abroad. The show was full of romantic moments and the cast was beautiful. I especially loved Luo Zhang as Mo Xiao Bai(I'm a fan). I was blown away by all the handsome men, especially Lawrence Wong(and his muscles). Moreover, Xu Hao looked beautiful in all the gowns, especially the red bridal gown. It was a very entertaining show.

spoilers: This story was about finding "true love." For 33-yr-old Najai(Pancake Khemanit Jamikorn), a Marketing Director, she had built a protective armor around her heart. A wine glass of couples rings symbolized her failed relationships. After 17 yrs abroad, Arlan(New Thitipoom Tacha-apaikun), a 26-yr-old genius composer/producer, came back to fulfill his promise to Najai, his first love. However, she didn't recognize handsome Arlan, whom she remembered as the plain-faced(like "Tofu")boy she & her mother raised. Before she found out who Arlan was, he confessed to her, followed by a mind-blowing kiss. Wow! The chemistry was undeniable. When Arlan moved in, their roles were reversed. The scene where Arlan carried drunk Najai on his back was symbolic of their role reversal. It was his turn to protect & take care of Najai. Arlan had to accept the many sides of Najai. He helped her find her compassionate side & the freedom & courage to be herself. Najai tried to deny her feelings & even dated her boss. However, faced with a life without Arlan, she realized she wanted"...love to be beautiful, fascinating and fill her heart with happiness." True love was worth fighting for. I loved the strong, intelligent female characters. Aside form Najai, they had their own stories of love & heartbreak. They remained resilient & firm in their beliefs that they deserved to be loved & cherished. They didn't have to settle for anything less. The cast was amazing!

spoilers: The love stories within the story could've stood alone as their own dramas. It takes a special, talented(and beautiful) cast to give the characters heart & soul, as they maneuvered the ups & downs of life & relationships. The background music left me with the feelings of anticipation, restlessness, & heart-racing moments. Part of the reason was the hot chemistry between Han So Hee(as Yoo Na Bi) & Song Kang(as Park Jae Eon). I wanted Na Bi to be happy, but I could understand how she was drawn to Jae Eon. In real life, Do Hyuk ends up with the girl. The heart can't be controlled, it wants what it wants. Jae Eon opened the "gates of hell" and ensnared Na Bi in his mind games. Na Bi didn't believe in love or fate, & Jae Eon didn't believe in dating. Their story was like a dance where they took turns leading. The music of the heart was like a slow dance, where the tempo sometimes resembled the increasing drumbeat of the heart's rhythm, as the lovers were drawn to each other. Two souls that had to finish the dance of fate together. The most unforgettable scene was a "bitch slap", "mic drop" moment when Na Bi told Seol Ah, "Jae Eon likes doing it with your hair tied." I loved Na Bi's character. Also, my fav LOL scene was Bit Na's "totally hot" boy friend password. Finally, when Jae Eon finally freed the butterflies, it was a pivotal moment because there was hope for his metamorphosis and hope for Na Bi to find a piece of happiness with Jae Eon by her side.

spoilers: This drama lured me in with a shocking beginning & kept me gripped to the t.v. until the end. The four main characters' lives intersected at a fake "church" during their childhood. It was a place of horror for the children who stayed there. It included abuse & illegal adoptions. Twins, Choi Jung Min & Ian Chase (Yoon Park) were separated when Ian was adopted & lived abroad. Choi was "abandoned, abused & neglected." The twins wanted a normal life, but they "crossed the line" to find it. Years later, a series of unsolved murders & attempted murder led to the suicide of one brother & the apprehension of an accomplice. For Joo Young Do(Kim Dong Wook), he stayed at the church to escape his mother. She treated him like spare parts for his sick brother. He blamed himself for not being able to save his brother's life. It was also a dark time for Kang Da Jung(Seo Hyun Jin) who fled with her brother & mother to escape an abusive father(a wife beater). She went to the church for books, to escape her reality. Her act of kindness toward young Joo Young Do was like the light during the darkest time of his life. Years later, they met again and fell in love. Young Do, a heart transplant recipient, hoped to live as long as possible. He told Da Jung, "You reached out your hand to me during the painful change of seasons. You are my spring." Moreover, one of my favorite characters was Ahn Ga Young(Nam Gyu Ri), who played a loveable actress in love with an idol star 10 yrs. her junior, Patrick(Park Sang Nam). I also loved all the BFF relationships & Da Jung's close relationship with her mother. The excellent cast told the story of pain, love & hope so beautifully. Who is your spring?

spoilers: This love story between Lian Xin(Sophie Zhang) & Xiang Yu Qiu(Eric Yang) had to be the most heart breaking, tear-jerker drama I've seen all year. Both Zhang & Yang gave moving performances & brought to life the devastating, but beautiful story about everlasting love. Orphaned, blind Lian Xin was the recipient of corneas donated to her by Yu Qui's girlfriend. Lian Xin was blinded as a child & separated from her sister & father, with whom she was reunited with years later. After being adopted by the Luo family, she was allowed to stay with Yu Qui. He promised his deceased girlfriend to always be by Lian Xin's side. Luo Rui, her adoptive brother, fell in love with her and tried to compete for her love. Their parents separated the siblings by moving to the U.S., but sent Lian Xin to study in Spain. Yu Qiu & Lian Xin lived together in Spain, but Yi Qui left suddenly, after Lian Xin confessed her love for him. Six years later, a grown up, Lian Xin, & CEO of her company, moved back to China. Yu Qiu had to confront his true feelings for Lian Xin or lose her forever. Their love was tested when Lian Xin was diagnosed with early onset of Alzheimer's, inherited from her father. She left her life in China behind, choosing to move to Switzerland, & facing the disease alone. Luo Rui pretended to be her boyfriend until Yu Qiu discovered her whereabouts. Yu Qiu & Lian Xin eventually exchanged vows & moved back to China. Seeing Alzheimer's first hand made this story personal. I cried a lot towards the end. The cast made this drama unforgettable & will leave viewers thankful for all the precious moments spent with loved ones. "I'm Xiang Lian Xin. She takes his last name to show that she will love him forever & ever. And, in return, he will make her feel loved every day." Beautiful!!!

spoilers: The love story between Jiang Dian (Chen You Wei) & Cheng Feng(Xu Yi Yang) was about two lonely people who accepted and learned to love each other's imperfections. Jiang Dian was a physics genius in college, who suffered from paranoid personality disorder. Because his parents worked abroad most of the year, he grew up lonely and insecure. He was pressured to take over the family business. His own dreams of becoming a physicist were ignored. Cheng Feng suffered from claustrophobia, after her mother's tragic accident. A gifted dancer, she was unable to perform on stage, until she met Jiang Dian. Lonely and broken, Jiang Dian's love filled her empty heart. Together, they believed they deserved to be loved. However, their love was tested by people who tried to break them up, including Dian's mother & Feng's ex- boyfriend. The biggest threat came from Dian's struggle with his sickness. As in this story, timing is everything. Dian & Feng agreed to give each other time & space to become better people. Three years later, Dian came back from abroad & became a professor of physics. Feng became an accomplished dancer, who won an international award. Dian's beautiful proposal in front of his mother(who gave her blessing) & friends was touching. Their exchange of words from the heart left me breathless. Also, I didn't keep count, but I've never seen so many kissing scenes in one drama before. The on-screen chemistry between Chen You Wei & Xu Yi Yang was amazing. spoilers: I gave this show a 10 because it's better than a 9.5. I was moved by this beautiful love story. The OST was beautifully sung & the lyrics touched my soul. Sang Wu Yan(Wan Peng) fell in love at first sight when she sat next to handsome Su Nian Qin(Evan Lin). Their great chemistry & portrayal of two complex characters kept me glued to the screen. Visually impaired Su Nian Qin had abandonment issues, rooted in a traumatic childhood, when he was dropped off at a welfare home, on his birthday. His mother promised to come back for him, but was killed on the same day. As an adult, he was a very insecure introvert who turned to the piano & song writing as forms of expression. It was his safe haven. He wrote under the name, "Yi Jin", whom Wu Yan idolized. However, she came to know & love Nian Qin and helped him open his heart. She was the light that brought warmth to his life & helped him out of his darkness. He began to believe he deserved to be loved. However, the sudden death of Wu Yan's father was the catalyst for a 3-year separation. In that time, Nian Qin received a corneal transplant & mended his broken relationship with his family. He learned to take over the family business so he could be worthy of Wu Yan. He protected Wu Yan & kept tabs on her during their separation. After 3 unsuccessful blind dates, Wu Yan had to come to terms with her true feelings for Nian Qin & that she always loved him. Nian Qin never stopped loving her. Their beach side wedding was romantic, especially with the beautiful songs that played in the background. I love wedding scenes! The scene with their adorable daughter capped off a great love story. The cast was wonderful. I look forward to seeing more of Evan Lin.

The drama began in the present, when Ding Xian made a public declaration on her first day at University, "Zhou Si Yue, I'm coming for you!" Before they attended the same university, they were desk mates in high school. When Xian's father accepted a teaching job at a top high school, Xian had a tough time adjusting, until she made friends. I loved the chemistry between Xian & her friends. Desk mate, Zhou Si Yue, was a genius student who helped her believe in herself & have bigger, challenging goals. She inspired him to never give up on his own dreams. Xian's plans to always be with Si Yue was derailed when she failed to get into the same university, but her determination in the following year paid off. Once at the university, Si Yue tried to cut ties with Xian because of family issues. He began to believe he wasn't good enough for Xian. Xian faced the painful truth that it was exhausting trying to live her life for Si Yue. She decided to pursue her real interests. Si Yue almost realized too late that he couldn't see a life without Xian in it. As a couple, they supported each other as they faced challenges in their chosen fields, and a long-distance relationship. The two proposals were beautifully orchestrated with touching words of love. When Xian looked back at the younger version of herself, at the old high school, holding Si Yue's hand, she smiled because she dared to dream bigger & love unconditionally.

spoilers: This story was about friendships, family, true, pure love, self-love, & passionate dreams. Tong Xi(Coco Ni) moved back to her hometown during her high school years. She reconnected with her childhood BFF, Lin Nan Yi(Chen He Yi), whom she used to protect & vowed to marry some day. A mint leaf, preserved in amber, was their "betrothal gift". It meant, "hope to see you again." A theme throughout the show because they were separated by circumstances throughout the years, but never for good. At her new school, Tong Xi was labeled "goddess" & "white swan" because exaggerated versions of her artistic accomplishments circulated. Nan Yi stood by her side as she learned the painful lessons of living up to other people's perfect expectations. It was only when she decided to be her true self did she find peace. Their friendship was tested when Tong Xi found out her comic idol, Qing He, was Nan Yi. I loved the scene when Nan Yi sketched beautiful Tong Xi, sitting by the window, as she slept, the sunlight casting an ethereal glow on her. Coco Ni's beautiful smile lit up the screen like I've never seen before, a testament to her true calling as an actress. The chemistry between the BFF's in the story was believable and heartfelt. The theme of having the courage to live your own dreams was a universal truth and very inspiring.

spoilers: This was a very visual show. The camera close ups captured the heart of the characters, beautifully portrayed by the best-looking cast I've ever seen. Dreamy Bi Wen Jun, for example, was a cross between Dylan Wang & Korean superstar, Park Bo Gum. Moreover, the BFF chemistry between Zeng Li(Betty Wu), Wu Ying(Baby Zhang), & Ma Yi Yi(Wan Zi Lin) was so believable that I wanted to be their BFF. Their love stories are played out in the drama. Zeng Li fell for her dentist, Ai Jing Chu(Bi Wen Jun). Before her, he felt insignificant. She gave his very structured life meaning. However, an old friend from their past, Yu Yi(Yalkun Merxat) created a love triangle. Timing was everything, and for Yu Yi, his opportunity was lost to his best friend, Ai Jing Chu. For Wu Jing, a busy doctor who didn't have time for love, her life changed when she met a younger man, Liu Yu Cheng (Zhai Xiao Wen). He came from Taiwan(an engineer grad) to study Chinese medicine. They had to overcome the prejudices of a 6-year age gap. Later, an unplanned pregnancy threatened to break them up. Lastly, Ma Yi Yi & Deng Hao Ran(Terry Liu)went through a painful break up, which resulted in several meaningless relationships. They had to learn to find their way back to each other and learn from their past mistakes. I loved the wedding scene at the end & the reunion between Zeng Li & Ai Jing Chu. Their proposal scene was one of the most romantic & beautifully shot scene I've seen all year. It included the song that played in the background. The love stories was a confirmation that flaws truly make people unique and it is in their uniqueness that opens a door to true love.

Unfortunately, Chu Xia lost her memory and had to rely on Xiao Dong & Astrophysicist Professor Chen for help. To complicate matters, Chu Xia's ex-fiance, Wei Xuan He(Yalkun Merxat), was the key to clearing Xu Wei Yi's reputation. When the gravitational waves threatened Chu Xia's existence, she had to go back to 2011 & make the choice to follow a different path. spoilers: At the heart of this story is about a couple who inspired each other to live their dreams and accompanied each other "to the peak of the world." Qiu Ying (Wang Zi Xuan), a struggling streaming host turned e-sport commentator apprentice & e-sport professional player, Ji Xiang Kong(Wang Yi Bo) fell in love. They had to overcome scandals, rumors & career sabotage, which threatened their relationship and dreams. They eventually formed their own team and called it "Phoenix". Their motto was "Bathed in flames, the Phoenix rises from the ashes." This drama isn't just for gamers because there were many life lessons, including perseverance, teamwork, trust, friendship & family. It included stories of first love, unrequited love, love triangles, break ups & missed opportunities. The excellent cast portrayed the ups & downs of competition and the hard work & dedication needed to be the best. The members of Phoenix had their individual stories that will have the viewer want to cheer them on. I especially loved Pei Xi's(Jerry Yan) story of a loner who found people who accepted him like family. He paid it forward by inspiring rookie player, Xia Ling(Qiu Ying's stepbrother). I look forward to seeing more main roles from Yan Xu Jia. The competition at the end was one of the most dramatic & beautifully orchestrated depiction of realized dreams I've ever seen. When team Phoenix wore the badges of other Chinese e-sport teams, it was both moving & awe-inspiring. They "carried the dreams of 2 generations in China." I felt the pride & the utter excitement of victory. I loved this show!

spoilers: I decided to watch this show because I'm a fan of Jerry Yan(as Dan Qiu Xu aka Xu Xu). Qui Xu's a spoiled, rich transfer student who repeated high school 5 times. He used to be a top student at an elite school, until the girl he liked suddenly disappeared. In order to fulfill his dreams of going abroad, his father forced him to attend Yi Zhong H.S. He met Wang Yuan He(Kan Xin), his desk mate. Later, it is revealed they shared a childhood past & her absent father knew his parents. At first, they didn't get along. However, when Qui Xu developed a crush on Yuan He, top student Chen Zhe(Yan Hao Yuan) became his rival in affairs of the heart and scholastic achievements. I loved the close friendship that developed between Qui Xu, Yuan He, Lin Kun & Niu Fu. They provided some of the LOL memorable moments throughout the show with their crazy antics. My favorite was when Xu Xu ended up passing out and foaming at the mouth under Teacher Li's desk, because of Li's legendary stinky feet. Moreover, their friendship included some of the more heartbreaking and inspiring scenes. The first season included the return of Qui Xi's crush and the story behind her disappearance. Qui Xu's mother manipulated their separation to force Qui Xu to concentrate on becoming her company heir. Qui Xi had to face the fact that his expectations of his first love was far from reality. In fact, Yuan He was part of his future as he learned to put his past and youth behind him.

spoilers: This is the continuing story of Dan Qui Xu's growth from an irresponsible, rich student to a compassionate, selfless top student and reliable friend. Part of his growth was due to kind-hearted, passionate, & independent Wang Yuan He. Some of the more cry-worthy scenes showcased Qui Xi's transition into a more mature young man as he experienced the last year of his youth. The sudden departure of his friend, Niu Fu, for family reasons, was heartbreaking. When Niu Fu left his classmates in tears and got a standing, respectful goodbye, I cried. Later, Qui Xu finally passed the NCEE exam and was excepted into a top university, but was devastated by Yuan He's surprise departure from his life. More devastating because she didn't say goodbye. Yuan He wanted to be a better version of herself before she could feel worthy of being with Qui Xu. Five years later, she became a writer & Qui Xu acquired a film company and became an investor. After a few missed opportunities to meet again, they met during a dating session. Their first kiss was worth the wait. When Qui Xu grabbed Yuan He and kissed her, it was a storybook conclusion to a sweet, beautiful, coming-of-age love story.

Shi Yi(Bai Lu) was instantly drawn to Zhou Sheng Chen(Allen Ren) when they first met at an airport. For6 months, they stayed connected via email. They met again in person when Shi Yi went on a trip with her BFF/tenant, Hong Xiao Yu. Shi Yi, a popular, beautiful dubbing actress, thought chemistry professor, Chen, was just her type & he couldn't get her out of his mind. When he proposed to her on the phone, she accepted. Things got complicated when Shi Yi met Chen's rich, extended family. As the new head of the family business that his deceased father built, Chen had obligations. His stepmother thought Shi Yi was perfect for Chen, but not for the family. After Shi Yi & Zhou Sheng Chen decided to get a marriage certificate, they had to overcome obstacles that tested their commitment to each other. Their wedding was postponed when Chen's stepsister, Wen Xing, died. When Mei Xing mourned the loss of Wen Xing, the scene was more devastating when the OST played in the background. I felt Mei Xing's gut-wrenching heart break and I cried. Later, Shi Yi ended up in a coma, after saving Chen's life from his evil stepbrother. I was in tears when Shi Yi's family refused to let Chen visit her at the hospital. He proved his love & commitment to his wife. I loved the idea that they were lovers in a past life & Shi Yi's dream about the possibility. Their wedding scene in the bedroom(Shi Yi was beautiful in a red, veiled gowned)was romantic & breathtaking. Shi Yi's news of a pregnancy was the best way to end the story. It was the new I was hoping for. I loved the cast!

Spoilers: First, have tissue handy because some of the storylines will resonate with viewers, depending on their own life experiences. My most cry-worthy stories included grandpa & his dog, the ghost wedding, and Sanchez & Veronica. This is also a love story between Jang Man Wol (IU) & Goo Chan Sung(Yeo Jin Goo) that defied "existence & time." Man Wol was the owner of Hotel Del Luna, a place for wandering souls to rest, usually with unresolved issues before death, before moving on to the afterlife. Jang & staff were living in their own self-made purgatory until they learned the lessons of self-love, forgiveness & compassion. The hotel was their own private prison until they made peace with and let go of what kept them from moving on. P.O, as Ji Hyun Joong, was a scene-stealer(I'm a fan of BlockB). His unique, lovable look & naturally exaggerated features added depth, warmth & sincerity to his character. His goodbye scene hit me hard. IU played a tormented soul very convincingly and often left me in tears. Only someone with her stature could pull off the beautiful wardrobe she wore in the show, which, surprisingly, added depth to her sometimes quirky character. She was handsome Yeo Jin Goo's equal in every scene they shared. I loved the way Jang's tragic past love story with Go Chung Myung was told mostly through Chan Sung's dreams. Chan Sung, the hotel's 99th live human manager, showed Man Wol how to love again. He believed she was worthy of redemption from her horrible past deeds. He helped uncover the truth about Go Chung Myung, making it possible for Jang to turn away from revenge. Her final goodbye with Go Chun Myung, under the moon tree, was one of the saddest goodbyes I've ever seen. Finally, aside from the great cast, CGI, & beautiful OST's, the ending left the viewer with hope because it wasn't the end for Man Wol & Chan Sung or the staff. The teaser for another hotel was exciting!

After all the buzz, I decided to watch this show. It was more than I ever expected. First, the amazing cast portrayed complex, desperate characters so convincingly that I was left speechless at the end. I've never seen anything like this show and everyone involved in making it should take several bows for this original, incredible drama. The mastermind of the Squid Game and those who fund it are the worse examples of corrupt absolute power. They play God with the lives of society's outcasts and, like the devil, dangle a reward with many strings attached, including a person's own soul. Like life, human value is measured on a person's contribution to society. It begs the question what would I do if I had nothing else to lose? It's a window to the human psyche and human nature and the will to survive when survival is the only ray of hope. What is a human life worth, including your own? If free will is taken away, and playing the game to have a chance to live and be richly rewarded is the end game, will you play to win at any cost? Even God doesn't take away our free will. It is a story about life itself, when you are forced to participate in determining the outcome of your final journey. In the end, the final winner can't accept the outcome. Like life, the game continues because sometimes hope is the only thing that drives people to believe they still have control of their lives.

spoilers: This was one of those dramas that kept me on the edge of my seat during the many heart-stopping moments. First, two bombing incidents, 3 years ago, changed the life of a female survivor. The death of Liu Yuan Wen's fiancee, Rong Yu, destroyed his friendship with her brother, Rong Yao. The bombings were also the catalyst that eventually brought down a powerful Asian group whose wealth came from an illegal drug business. Years later, Yuan Wen(Allen Ren) was deep uncover, as Mu Qing, to bring down the group. He eventually had to work with Rong Yao, where they had to put aside their differences to take down "The Four Vajras", led by Ou Zhen Hai. Later, a highly addictive, new synthetic drug meant finding & taking down the elusive Spectre. I guessed the real identity of Skylark, who was sent to help bring down Spectre. Janine Chang played the spoiled daughter of Ou convincingly. Both undercover agents, Mu Qing & Skylark, had to tackle their conflicted feelings for their targets, after living a fake identity for so many years. Yuan Wen also found himself comparing the similarities between Rong Yu & Ke Xin. It wasn't hard to guest what really happened to Rong Yu & why Yuan Wen was drawn to Ke Xin, who felt familiar to him. Surprisingly, the most heartbreaking scenes included Congtou & his wife & Mr. Ou's relationship with Ke Xin. Moreover, I felt the betrayal & loss of the friendship between Mu Qing & Li Ruo Sheng. For me, Yann as Ruo Sheng, gave a great, standout performance. Afterwards, the viewer is left to wonder who came out alive? In the end, the work of an undercover agent doesn't end as long as there are more drug lords to take down.

Spoilers: After Kim Seon Ho's stand out performance on "Start Up", I couldn't wait to see this show. I wasn't disappointed. He played Hong Doo Shik, an SNU engineer grad who tried to escape his heartbreaking past. It included losing his parents, grandfather, & best friend. In Gongjin, his hometown, he was popular among the townspeople, always lending his many skills to those who needed him. However, he couldn't escape his dark past & abandonment issues. Meeting Yoon Hye Jin(Shin Min Ah) was like a ray of light breaking through a cloudy day, over the water. Previously, their paths crossed the two times Hye Jin visited Gongjin. Hye Jin opened a dental clinic in town and found her true self & true love in the process. Like Hye Jin, I found the uniqueness of the townspeople, both young & old, endearing and special. It made me want to stay to the end of the show. I found myself laughing, crying & celebrating with them. It's a testament to the incredible casting. Granny Gam Ri & her two best friends were some of my favorites. For Hye Jin, life in Gongjin changed her as she connected with the townspeople. She fell in love with Doo Shik and became his "rock" to share his painful past. She helped him to forgive himself and let go. With forgiveness, he felt worthy of love & happiness. BTW, two leading stars with dimples look adorable together on screen. Moreover, the camera really captured Du Sik's attraction to Hye Jin. It was understandable why he couldn't look away. I loved the proposals on the beach & the wedding photo shoot that included the townspeople. The aerial shots of Gongjin was a great way to end the show. It's probably on people's bucket list now.

spoilers: I was disappointed with the subtitles, which was lost in translation to English. It took away from my enjoyment of an otherwise sweet love story. I managed to watch it to the end only because of the chemistry between Ye Cheng Su(Chen Ze) & Gu Ling Se(Wang Pei Han). They entered into a contract engagement, but fell for each other and later had a beautiful wedding, during a lantern ceremony, in Cheng Su's hometown. The engagement was part of Ling Se's plan to take down her powerful father, who was responsible for her mother's PTSD. It's always a plus when women are portrayed in strong, powerful roles. In this story, Cheng Su & Ling Se were better working together than apart. Also, I liked the chemistry between Quan Zi Mo (Zong Mu Yi) & Ming Ri Xin (Chen Si Yu). Their love story could stand alone in their own show. Their screen time together was mesmerizing. I hope to see more of them, in the future, in leading roles. The beautiful cast, fashion & music saved the show. Over all, I did enjoy it and, thankfully, the ending wrapped up the main storyline neatly. In my opinion, happy endings are always welcome and a good thing.

spoilers: Han So Hee deserves a standing ovation and an award for this show. She plays Yoon Ji Woo, who wanted to avenge her father's murder. After saving her life, Drug Lord, Choi Moo Jin (Park Hee Soon) took her under his wing. Her life belonged to him and he molded her into a killing machine. His deception pointed her in the direction of a cop responsible for her father's murder. Five years later, under her new name, Oh Hye Jin, she was fully entrenched as a member of the Dongcheon gang and a member of the Inchang Metropolitan Police Agency. She became the gang's mole within the narcotics department. Her superior, Captain Cha Gi Ho, became her number one suspect in her father's murder. Through him, she found out her father was an undercover narcotics detective who he sent to infiltrate Dongcheon. After proving her loyalty to Moo Jin countless times, she discovered his ultimate betrayal. With a price on her head, her supervisor, Jeon Pil Do(Ahn Bo Hyun) tried to steer her from becoming a monster. He wanted to stand by her. The beach house scene was very steamy because of their great chemistry. Unfortunately, this wasn't a love story. Ji Woo had to fight Moo Jin's men, including his top member, Tae Joo, to get to Moo Jin. She left behind a bloody trail of bodies that led to the inevitable fight to the death confrontation between her & Moo Jin. Ji Woo was fearless and unstoppable because a monster had taken away two people who were precious to her. Ji Woo's fight scenes left me in awe and glued to the screen. They were realistically executed and added to the realism of violent gang life. After the last scene, my only question was whether or not there will be a sequel?

spoilers: I loved the cast! The chemistry between Lee Hye Ri(Lee Dam) & Jang Ki Yong(Shin Woo Yeo) and Lee & her 2 BFF's, Kim Do Wan(Do Jae Jin) & Park Kyung Hye(Choi Soo Kyung) was perfectly amazing! I didn't expect so many LOL moments making me burst out in laughter. Lee Hye Ri's moment by moment expressions were like "whiplash" because she seamlessly switched her facial expressions between hilarious & serious in an instant. The comedic timing of the cast's funny scenes was sheer perfection. This was a beautiful love story of a 999-year-old Gumiho, Woo Yeo, and human college student, Lee Dam. After a tragic loss, Woo Yeo viewed life as meaningless, until he met Dam. She was full of life and fearless in her conviction to be herself. The key to Woo Yeo's wish to become human was humanity. Lee Dan showed him how to become more humane, including opening his heart to love and a meaningful life worth living for. Moreover, Bae In Hyuk(Gye Sun Woo) was perfectly cast as the serious competition for Dam's heart & destiny. Also, I loved the sweet love story between Jae Jin & gumiho turned human, Hye Sun(Kang Han Na). Their often lost-in-translation dialogue was hilarious! The ending was the only acceptable way I wanted it to end. It didn't disappoint.

spoilers: I was hooked from the very beginning. The flashbacks from the day of the tragic "incident" was played out piece by piece, episode by episode. It was like a puzzle that I couldn't solve until all the pieces presented a complete picture. The development of the cast of characters(played out by an incredible cast) kept me glued to the show. The elite family members of the Hyowon Group looked like they had everything. Seo Hee Soo(Lee Bo Young) was a popular actress before she married Han Ji Yong(Lee Hyun Wook). For the past 6 years, she raised her stepson, Ha Jun, whose biological mother left him with his father's family at 18 mos. Jung Hyun Joon was amazing in this show. His scenes were often cry-worthy and touching. Ambitious, handsome Ji Yong was well-liked at work. However, his insecurities as an illegitimate, unwanted son shaped him into the monster he became. The facade he presented hid his true self. He was intent on becoming his father's predecessor as chairman. His father's legitimate older children weren't qualified to lead. After young Soo Hyuk(N) refused the position, his stepmother, Jeong Seo Hyun(Kim Seo Hyung), became Ji Yong's worthy competition. She believed in protecting the Hyowon Group at any cost. I loved Soo Hyuk's belief in living his life on his terms despite family expectations/obligations. In the end, it took 3 strong women to take Ji Yong down. The deceit surrounding his son's birth mother, lies & dark double life led to tragic consequences. Almost every episode ended in a shocking, dramatic way. The nursery scene was the most shocking. It left me speechless & the shock value was like a magnitude 8 earthquake, a huge, unbelievable jolt that gave me goosebumps. The show's positive message of self love and the portrayal of strong female characters was truly inspiring.

  • Love at Night

    195. Love at Night

    Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: First, the cast was beautiful. Zhang Yu Xi(as Xu Qing You)& Liu Xue Yi(as Mo Ling Ze) lit up the screen with their amazing chemistry. When Qing You broke up with her fiance, Fan Yun Xi(Li Zi Feng), after a 10-year relationship, because of his infidelity, Qing You went to a bar and got drunk. She spent a drunken night in a hotel room with Ling Ze, thinking they had a one-night stand. At work, the new company V.P. was Mo Ling Ze. Later, Ling Ze clarified what really happened between them at the hotel. Self-made director, Xu Qing You, caught Mo Ling Ze's interest like no other woman had ever done before. When Qing You and her ex-fiance gave their relationship a second chance, Qing You finally realized he was controlling, self-absorbed, & manipulative. She concluded they didn't love each other and broke up with him for good. She wanted to break away from other's expectations and followed her dreams under her own terms. The love story between Qing You & Ling Ze was about being true to yourself and not trying to mold someone into something else. People shine brightest when they live & love sincerely & authentically. It also applied to the love story between Fang Qi(Zhao Yuan Yuan) & Xu Wei(Gu Zi Cheng),who had an 8-year age gap. Also, Wang Ji & Lin Si Yu, who had to bridge their social divide. Ling Ze's confession to Qing You, surrounded by water, under a star-lit night, was romantic, including the beautiful gift he gave her. Lastly, I loved the proposal at the end. I recommend this for those who love romance and strong, fearless female role models.

spoilers: Over a decade ago, a mall collapsed and 48 victims were killed, including the suicide of the architect. In the present, the survivors, who were pulled out of the rubble, and the families of the deceased victims learned to live with the consequences. Survivors had to overcome grief, guilt, & PTSD & learned to find purpose & reason to move forward & live their lives. Many relationships were changed forever, families torn apart, & relationships destroyed. For Lee Kang Doo (Lee Jun Ho) & Ha Moon Soo (Won Jin Ah), a love story was born out of the ashes of a dark, traumatic shared experience. Moon Soo's Savior, a voice in the dark, despite fragmented memories of the tragic event, became her beacon of hope to overcome the pain of loss and survivor's guilt. Kang Doo's loss came with scandal surrounding his father's role in the tragic incident and the loss of his own dreams. Together, Kang Doo & Moon Soo overcame PTSD, loss and guilt and found healing in unconditional love. As survivors, they created a fitting monument to remember and honor the victims and never forget the tragedy. It was a place for reflection and consolation for the victims' families. Moreover, I loved the relationships Kang Doo had with "Grandma", Ma Ri & Sang Man. They all helped Kang Doo become the decent man he became. Sang Man's uncomplicated, clear view of the world made him an unforgettable character with a heart of pure gold. When he quoted "The Bodyguard" movie, "Those who have something to protect do not die easily.", it was a foreshadowing of Kang Doo's health crisis result. I was ready to cry a river, after crying throughout the show. I was surprised by the ending. No matter how it played out, I was already blown away by the amazing, beautiful drama that was played out by an INCREDIBLE cast. I binge-watched this drama in a short period of time and I expect others will too.

spoilers: When young, handsome, & single conglomerate president, Feng Teng(Zhang Han), first met Xue Shan Shan (Zhao Li Ying), she donated blood to his sister. In fact, the company had a secret policy to hire new employees with the rare blood type. In appreciation, it led to specially prepared daily lunches for Shan Shan, which led to shared lunches in her boss' office. Feng Teng was drawn to "very simple and lovely" Shan Shan whose sunny disposition and positive attitude made him feel at ease. As their attraction grew and blossomed into pure love, they overcame many problems & obstacles that came with an office romance, especially between an ordinary person & her boss. Office rumors, family revelations, & the gap between them threatened their relationship. Only facing them together and trusting each other could keep them together. With Feng Teng's support, Shan Shan flourished in her personal & professional growth through hard work & perseverance. The gap between them narrowed as Shan Shan's confidence in herself grew. In fact, the strong female characters (and the men who loved them) and their friendships catapulted this show into something very special, including the beautiful cast. I didn't want the drama to end. It was a beautiful ending, but after the difficult journey Shan Shan & Feng Teng travelled, fans really deserved a wedding and a view into their future, like children? It still was a perfect love story.

spoilers: Rain Wang was convincing as twin sisters, Jiang Li Li & Bi Xiao Ran. Xiao Ran was the older twin, who was the over achieving, fierce & ruthless successful producer. Jiang Li Li was personable & friendly, with a sunny disposition. For Lai Zheng Yi (Luo Zheng), he never forgot the little girl at the orphanage who was his "sun." When Xiao Ran worked for him, he found out the unforgettable little girl was twin, Jiang Li Li. He investigated Li Li's whereabouts and kept tabs on her from a distance, until she disappeared again from his life. Timing is everything, and, years later, Jiang Li Li secretly stepped into her sister's shoes when Xiao Ran was deliberately injured by a hit and run biker. Zheng Yi immediately recognized Jiang Li Li. In order to keep up the pretense of fake couple, Lai Zheng Yi & Bi Xiao Ran, the face of the company, & dispel rumors of a break up, Zheng Yi suggested Li Li (as Xiao Ran) move in with him. Their love was threatened by distrust and insecurities. Jiang Li Li didn't want a perfect version of Zheng Yi. She liked him just the way he was. I loved the way Zheng Yi believed in Jiang Li Li and never saw her as her twin's forgettable sister in the shadows. He helped her see her worth and, for him, she was his world, who made everything ,"brighter and fresher." Moreover, I loved the interactions between Jiang Li Li & Lai Zheng Ling(Su Xiao Ding). Rain Wang & Su Xiao Ding had perfect comic timing during the LOL moments of the show. My favorite LOL moment was Zheng Ling's sanitary pads shopping with the plastic bag. I loved this sweet love story and the Civic Affairs Bureau ending was a great way to end the show.

  • My Sunshine

    199. My Sunshine

    Chinese Drama - 2015, 32 episodes

    9.0

spoilers: I couldn't stop watching this beautiful love story. Changhua University Chemistry Freshman, Zhao Mo Sheng, met second year International Law student, He Yi Chen, after taking photos of him reading under a tree on campus. She was like the sun falling on popular, top student, Yi Chen, giving him warmth and love. Mo Sheng was outgoing, lovely & a "foodie", born to a wealthy family, and Daddy's girl. Yi Chen was reserved and orphaned at age 10, adopted by family friends, of modest means. Yi Chen didn't plan on dating until after graduation, but was drawn to his "Sunshine", Mo Sheng. A family crisis, after a break up, led to a heartbreaking, painful 7-year separation when Mo Sheng suddenly went abroad to the U.S. She studied photography in New York and became an accomplished photographer. When she came back to Shanghai, she came back changed, no longer the outgoing, carefree, younger version of herself. Yi Chen spent 7 years hating Mo Sheng, but no one else, but Mo Sheng was good enough for him. A successful partner of a law firm, he never stopped loving Mo Sheng. He had to accept her past life in the U.S. and Mo Sheng had to trust Yi Chen's love. The transition between the younger college versions of Mo Sheng(Janice Wu) & Yi Chen(Luo Yun Xi) & older versions of Mo Sheng(Tiffany Tang) & Yi Chen(Wallace Chung) was seamless. The casting was perfect. Some of the kissing scenes between their younger & older versions were full of sizzle. I loved the friendship between BFF's Mo Sheng & Shaomei. Viola Mi(Shaomei) & Eric Yang(Lu Yuan Feng) had great chemistry & provided many LOL moments. Zang Hong Na(Gu Xing Hong) was a comedic scene stealer. Admittedly, "drool-worthy" gorgeousness goes to Tan Kai(Ying Hui).

  • Memories of Love

    200. Memories of Love

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 30 episodes

    7.5

spoilers: I have to admit that the character development was slow at times & I wasn't ready to commit to the show until the 8th episode. The story of (very handsome) Uncle Kai Yu, who lived life under his own terms, sometimes eclipsed the love story between Lu Fei(Wallace Chung) & Xin Chen(Jiang Shu Ying). The love story between Xin Di (Li Sheng) & Dai Wei Fan(Li Hao Xuan) was more engaging. Li Hao Xuan showed he's leading man material. I loved the pool proposal and their chemistry was undeniable. Sometimes, I was distracted by the loud background music that overpowered some of the dialogue. Also, the flashbacks sometimes chopped up the flow of the main storyline. Lu Fei & Xin Chen's love story started in college and continued after a 10 year separation, when renowned U.S. director, Lu Fei, returned to China. His ultimate goal was to reconnect with the only leading lady in his heart, Xin Chen. She was his first love & "a dream that can't be replaced." He wanted to direct a movie based on their story. At first, the dance scenes weren't impressive. However, I realized the sincerity & joy of life in the dance was the ultimate goal. Lu Fei & Xin Chen had to overcome many obstacles and learn the often painful lessons of personal growth. Xin Chen's belief in him gave him the motivation to finish his film. Friendships & family relationships were tested & secrets exposed, including a life-altering car accident. Aaron Yan's strong, confident, self-sacrificing character, Lin Le Qing, was my favorite. Later, a devastating typhoon resulted in another 6 months separation, Lu Fei going back to the U.S. to recover from a serious injury, & Chen dealt with the loss of Kai Yu. The ending on the beach was rather abrupt. After going through so much, they deserved a better ending & so did the viewers, like me.
