  • Moonshine and Valentine

    1. Moonshine and Valentine

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 25 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 20/25

Very slow and boring pace. Most scenes consisted of the characters sitting around a cafe and talking about how the FL is being ridiculous for not caving to her stalker. He's so sincere, you should give him a chance even though he's super creepy and possibly an alien animal...thing.

Also, I didn’t like the lead actress at all. Her acting and facial expressions were flat and lifeless. The only redeeming features were the hot guys and the FL's sassy best friend.

  • Sm:)e

    2. Sm:)e

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 24 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 4/24

The ML is too feminine for my tastes. He wears dark makeup against pale skin, which makes him look like a vampire. I gave up as soon as the second FL was introduced because it was obvious her jealousy would fuel the entire show and create nothing but pointless drama.

I would compare this to “Strong Woman Do Bong Soo”. Cute, fluffy couple, but a weak storyline.

  • Damo

    3. Damo

    Korean Drama - 2003, 14 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 12/14

Bittersweet unrequited love, political upheaval, betrayal after betrayal, rampant disease and starvation, a civil war...there's not a moment of happiness in this drama.

The actors were excellent, which is why I continued watching, but the plot took a nosedive around Episode 8 or so. It seemed like the writers changed their minds about the direction of the romance and then sped through the next few episodes trying to make up for lost time.

  • Hit the Top

    4. Hit the Top

    Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 25/32

In the 25 episodes I watched, nothing special happened. He woke up in the modern world, moved in with the other main characters, and was just living life (after adjusting way too quickly). Plus, the FL was grumpy and constantly yelling. Her best friend, the second ML, was obsessed with her and kept demanding she date him, no matter how obviously creeped out she (and I) was.

  • My Love from the Star

    5. My Love from the Star

    Korean Drama - 2013, 21 episodes

I can't remember exactly how many episodes I watched before abandoning it (maybe six?), but I just couldn't stand the obnoxious FL. She was loud, selfish, and childish - basically, a grown woman who threw temper tantrums when she didn't get her way. The ML, on the other hand, didn't have much personality. He was more like a robot than an alien.

  • Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

    6. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 9/16

I like most of the characters (except the FL's abusive mother) and the storyline is okay, but it's very predictable and boring. The cutesy relationships are the only selling point.

  • Cinderella Chef

    7. Cinderella Chef

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 56 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 16/56

This is such a weird show. I like the fact that the FL is so self-confident and takes life by the horns, as well as the mysteriousness surrounding the ML, but the overall storyline is pretty strange. After 16 episodes, I was still lost about what was actually happening, who was enemies with whom, and why they were fighting.

After reading reviews and skipping ahead about twenty episodes, I decided to save myself the pain and drop this drama. It's a shame, too, because I really like the main couple.

  • Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People

    8. Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People

    Korean Drama - 2017, 30 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 15/30

The supporting characters are all truly fantastic - I laughed at their antics in almost every episode. They're the only reason I didn't give up until half-way through. It's just too bad that the plot and the ML were so poorly written.

The ML started out as a sensitive crybaby, but then he inherited his father's business and suddenly became a cold-hearted mercenary. His schemes always worked perfectly, so most of the episodes were just filler material. At one point, he's annoyed with the FL and then he's suddenly in love with her, even though yesterday he loved someone else. Basically, everything was weirdly inconsistent.

Plus, the ML tried to look intimidating by constantly glaring straight into the camera and it was hard for me to take him seriously. That, and his wig was so obviously fake.

  • Love Better Than Immortality

    9. Love Better Than Immortality

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 40 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 28/40

I tried to like this drama for the sake of the ML and his gorgeous face, but I've lost all interest in continuing it. The FL is supposed to be cute, I guess, but she's just an airheaded ditz who only cares about herself. Other than their relationship, the plot is very weak and pointless. People from different martial arts groups are fighting over a nut (yes, a nut) that grants immortality. Supposedly. No one knows if it exists or not, but everyone's obsessed with it and it gets tiring very quickly.

And the makeup! The camera was constantly zooming in on their faces and all I could see was the layers and layers of makeup caking their skin and getting into their hairline.

  • Chef Fang

    10. Chef Fang

    Chinese Drama - 2017, 36 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 9/36

I typically don't watch dramas with silly or useless MLs, but this one grew on me after a few episodes. Unfortunately, the story fizzles out after those few episodes. It's a pretty cute show about a perfectly-matched couple, but there's no tension, no drama, no problems to overcome.  Each episode is full of preaching about how to be a good person and how you'll be eternally happy as long as you believe in yourself. It's like a cartoon for kids.

  • The Love by Hypnotic

    11. The Love by Hypnotic

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 36 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 16/36

So much potential! The cinematography, fashion, and settings were gorgeous, the relationship between the leads was pretty cute, the ML's sleepwalking antics were hilarious, and the acting was great.

However, the storyline is nonexistent and painfully slow. Nothing substantial happens until around Episode 13 (when her first love is introduced). I like the ML, but after learning how the FL and her lover were cruelly torn apart for the sake of a political marriage, I just couldn't support him anymore.

  • Sound of the Desert

    12. Sound of the Desert

    Chinese Drama - 2014, 35 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 19/35

I stuck with this drama for so long because of all the great reviews, but I've yet to be impressed. There's no plot, no solid problem to overcome. Even though I'm halfway through, I'm still lost about the FL's motives and what the story is even about because everything is being kept as vague as possible. I also don't like the FL. Her acting is stiff, her character is so overpowered that nothing she faces is a challenge, she pouts and throws temper tantrums, and she's selfishly obsessed with a man she barely even knows.

The only thing I do like is the ML and his gorgeous smile.

  • Suspicious Partner

    13. Suspicious Partner

    Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 26/40

There's nothing wrong with "Suspicious Partner". In fact, it's a great drama with hilarious characters and veteran actors. But after such an explosive beginning, the story slumped and I became bored. I'm not too impressed with the awkward romance either. Plus, the weird love square is annoying. How many drunk scenes does a secondary character need?

  • Miss Truth

    14. Miss Truth

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 36 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 25/36

"Miss Truth" has a very unique plot that really kept my interest, but the clunky pacing is just so bizarre and confusing. After reading other comments, I learned it was because the writers had to shave down a few episodes at the last minute, which is why so many scenes are suddenly cut in the middle and why there's no filler material that actually explains what's happening.

Plus, the FL's acting is so creepily robotic that it's actually uncomfortable to watch. Even during intimate scenes or life and death situations, there's no emotion on her face whatsoever. Her relationships with both MLs are shallow and uncomfortably possessive. The FL is also a damsel in distress in every single episode -- kidnapping, poison, drowning, you name it.

  • The Princess Wei Young

    15. The Princess Wei Young

    Chinese Drama - 2016, 54 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 27/54

This drama is absolutely infuriating! Wei Young is constantly being blamed for everything (that's not an exaggeration -- I mean EVERYTHING) and it seems like every person in the country wants her dead for some reason or another.

Even though I like the main couple's characters, their relationship can be summed up with: "I met you like a week ago and I would happily die or commit treason for you."

  • Delightful Girl, Choon Hyang

    16. Delightful Girl, Choon Hyang

    Korean Drama - 2005, 17 episodes

I watched this drama years ago and I remember liking it. Now that I'm older, I can't find much to like. It's a typical Korean rom-com with an infuriating love square that makes my blood boil. The FL is, as the title implies, delightful, but the ML is a selfish brat who allows his childhood friend to ruin their marriage, all while being completely clueless. The poor FL is pushed to the side and treated more like an annoying sister than a wife.

I'm not a fan of her other love interest either. He started liking her when she was still in high school (and he's a grown adult with an advanced career), which was gross enough, but he's also clingy, manipulative, and possessive of a girl who is married to someone else.

  • The Sleepless Princess

    17. The Sleepless Princess

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 35 episodes

    Episodes Watched: 20/35

So far, this drama has been cute and entertaining. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad. However. English translations end at episode 20. I've looked everywhere and all I can find are subtitles that were obviously just run through a translation app and weren't edited to make actual sentences.
