He was the second generation Matagoro Nakamura 's disciple. In 1954, he was scouted for a bit part in Shochiku 's "Bikkuri Gojusanji" under the name of Mataichi Nakamura. In 1955, he became a Toei actor with the name Sentaro Fushimi. Debuted with "Moon Whistle". After that, he starred in "The Adventures of the Maboroshi Kobo" and has appeared in numerous historical films as a leading and supporting actor. He gained great popularity due to his delicate body and appearance of a female figure.

He got tuberculosis in 1968 and completely stopped acting for a long while. In 1986, he appeared in the movie "Genkai Tsurezure Bushi" for the first time in more than 20 years and was a little talked about, but the movie did not become a hit and his wife was murdered in 1985. It is said that he was in a pitiful situation in his later years.

The exact year of his death is unknown. There were rumors of a distant relative that he was stabbed by a woman but there is no evidence to support this theory. There is also a theory that he died of illness in 1991 which is assumed to be what happened, but the details are unknown.
