He first auditioned for SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) when he was in the 4th grade of elementary school. After three attempts, he passed the audition in 2015 by doing a freestyle dance and was accepted as a trainee. He will join the company in 2018 and spent 5 years as a trainee.
In November 2017, he became a member of the Japanese group EDAMAME BEANS (エダマメビーンズ) formed by Stardust Promotion (株式会社スターダストプロモーション). He was chosen as a vocalist but he departed in early 2018 to officially join SM in South Korea.
NCT WISH released a pre-debut song titled "Hands Up" in October 2023. He then made his debut in February 2024 as the group's main dancer with their first single "Wish". After the debut of this sub-unit, SM Entertainment decided to stop adding more members or creating sub-units.
