He began playing basketball in middle school when he was already 1.87 meters tall. Unfortunately, his rapid growth made him prone to knee and calf injuries, limiting his playing time in high school and college. At 2.21 meters, he is one of the tallest players in South Korean history. In 2013 and 2014, he failed to be selected at the Korean Basketball League (KBL) draft and decided to retire.
He is now trying to enter the entertainment industry and was selected to play the body of the Japanese ghost in the hit movie "Exhuma" (파묘).
