Andy Friend, also known by the stage name An Di (安地), is an actor born and raised in Beijing, China. Both his parents were foreign experts sent to China: his mother was an Italian collector who had studied Chinese in the Soviet Union, and his father was a French doctorate. Andy received his education in Beijing , and in 1983, was admitted to the Chinese painting department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1985, Andy participated in film shooting in Guangzhou as a bilingual translator, which sparked his strong interest in film that would later begin his transition to Hollywood film production. In the late 1980s, after his parents passing, Andy left Beijing to develop his career in Hollywood. He would spend over a decade in Hollywood, participating in the art direction and special effects for blockbusters such as "The Bourne Identity", "Batman" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith ". After returning to China in the early 21st century, he participated in film and television creation in multiple roles such as actor, concept designer, and special effects supervisor.

Andy currently resides in Beijing, but does hold duel Chinese and U.S. citizenship.
