Lee Ji Hye
- Name: Lee Ji Hye
- Native name: 이지혜
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Female
- Born: January 11, 1980
- Age: 46
She made her debut in November 1998 as SHARP's vocalist with their first album, "The S#arp". At the time, the music industry was dominated by male or female groups, so World Music (월드뮤직) decided to gamble by creating a co-ed group. They proved to be somewhat successful, especially with their 1999 single, "Tell Me Tell Me".
However, they also faced several lineup changes right after the promotion period of their debut album ended. But, the biggest controversy began in late 2001 when rumors emerged of a possible conflict between her and Seo Ji Young. Originally, the group was created by Seo's family (who were part of World Music) and pretended to have Seo as the main vocalist and center, surrounded by her friends. But, the plans changed when she was included as a member.
Seo became jealous and would abuse her physically and verbally almost daily and, allegedly, invited actor Ryu Si Won (Seo's boyfriend at the time) to also hit her. The climax came in October 2002 during a recording of KBS "Music Bank". Seo confronted her in an elevator and both began fighting. The next day, Seo's mother also attacked her, and the group announced it was disbanding.
Two days later, each held a press conference explaining the situation. Seo tried to place the blame entirely on her, but the group's manager exposed her lies, and criticism was directed towards Seo as it became clear who the bully and the victim were in this incident.
She then made her debut as a solo artist in May 2005 with the album "Without You". She found commercial success the following year with the single "Love Me Love Me", so much success that she ended up being hospitalized for exhaustion. In a shameful move, Seo visited her at the hospital and gifted her white chrysanthemums, a flower traditionally used for the dead. The group settled their differences 11 years later.
She has also ventured into acting and as a cast member of several variety shows. She is currently represented by TN Entertainment (티엔엔터테인먼트).
