Kaneko Nobuo was a Japanese actor, culinary researcher, host, and talent born in Shitaya, Tokyo, Japan.

He grew up in a family of dentists and struggled with tuberculosis from a young age, facing a prognosis that he might not live past 20. Despite his health challenges, he graduated from Kyoka Gakuen and became involved in the theater.

Initially uninterested in acting, Kaneko's involvement began when he accompanied a friend to the Bungakuza Theater with a recommendation from Kubota Mantaro. Though initially dismissed by Nakamura Shinro, he was encouraged by Okuno Tadashi to join the theater's directing department as a joke. Kaneko formally joined the Bungakuza Theater in 1943 as an actor, later being assigned to the directing department. After returning from a brief military service and enduring the destruction of his home during the Tokyo air raids, he continued with the Bungakuza Theater and began receiving roles in 1946. His film debut came with "Urashima Taro no Kokei."

In 1952, Kaneko left the Bungakuza Theater due to differing artistic views and joined a youth actor club founded by Honda Nobusaburo, Okada Eiji, and Kimura Isao, though he departed after a year. He then focused on radio and Nikkatsu films.

Kaneko married Tanami Yatsuko in 1958, and in 1966, they co-founded the Shingeki Club-Marlie. He also pursued culinary research, writing essays such as "Umaimon ga Tabetakute" and owning the French restaurant Botantei in Ogikubo.

Kaneko Nobuo passed away from bacterial sepsis on January 20, 1995, in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, at the age of 71.
