Born in Tokyo, 1948. A prominent hitmaker of TV commercials, he earned the Grand Prize at the Cannes International Advertising Festival in 1985. His first film is "BU+SU" produced in 1987. His most acclaimed film is Tony Takitani, which earned him numerous festival awards.

In the early morning hours of September 19, 2008, Jun Ichikawa passed away after collapsing at lunch the previous day and then being rushed to a hospital.
