She began acting as a child, appearing on TV and on stage where she performed in Japanese versions of popular Broadway plays like "The King and I" and "Fiddler on the Roof" as well as "Peter Pan" and "The Sound of Music".
Her first TV drama role came with "Taiyou no Oka" in 1966. She's largely a TV actress but appeared in a total of 4 movies in the 70s when she was a popular idol. One of her most popular dramas was "Okusama wa 18-sai". Her last drama appearance to date occurred in 2015's "Gigolo in the Share House".
Alongside her acting career that spans into the present, she has also been a calligraphy instructor and active in environmental protection activities. Since January 1, 2018, she has served as the director of the "Japan Traumheim Association" which works to promote animal welfare, the coexistence of humans and animals, and bringing the killing of pet animals in Japan to zero as well as the welfare of socially vulnerable people.
