Otabe Michimaro was a Japanese actor and chief priest born in Yanagawa-cho, Sanmon-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture. He was enlisted in the Pacific War at the age of 18. After he was demobilized, he attended Takushoku University, Department of Administrative Affairs, and graduated in 1948.

After the war, he worked as an instructor at the Fukuoka Juvenile Training School. In 1955, when he felt that he was at a dead end in his work at the juvenile training school, he was recommended to become an actor at the Toei Kyoto Studio, where he happened to visit, and joined the Toei Kyoto Studio.

He died at the age of 77 of aplastic anemia.
