A beautiful young ingénue with roots from Guizhou province, Fang Yin graduated from the Southern Drama Group in the early 1960s with the talented class that included Lee Ching, Lily Ho, Chin Ping, Cheng Pei Pei and Margaret Hsing Hui, an elite group that was groomed by Shaw Brothers in the old Hollywood studio tradition.
After her marriage and retirement from in front of the camera, she continued to work for Shaw Brothers in the studio's wardrobe department. She died of pancreatic cancer in 2010.
