After graduating from Kyoto Seika Girls' High School, she joined the theater company Hollyhock Academy. She initially worked behind the scenes, but she longed to be an actress and became a member in 1974. In the same year, she made her debut in the troupe's regular performance "Dead End". In her 1975 play "Woman Killing Oil Hell," she won the Kansai Actors Council's 1st New Face Award.
