She graduated from Muhak Girls' Middle School and Chuncheon Girls' High School. She lived in Chuncheon until she dropped out of the Chuncheon Agricultural University Horticultural Department. When she was in school, she was a literary girl who liked Kim So Wol and Goethe. Her hobbies include reading, horseback riding, billiards, swimming, and dancing.
She debuted on her theatrical stage in 1964 through her inaugural performance work, "Dalgal", by the Minjung Theater.
She is a TV Talent; she made her film debut with "When Her Youth Passes the Night" (1964). She later gained attention as a physical actor, showing her potential as a youth star. She gained her attention with "The Camellia Girl" (1964), and she began to make her name known as a new actor. She later gained popularity as she crossed TV and screens. In 1965, she won the Rookie of the Year award at the 2nd “Korea Most Popular Actor and Film Awards”.
She married Hong Moon San, a Korean-American businessman, in 1968, and she quit her movie star career and emigrated to New York, USA. She has appeared in more than 40 movies.
