Graduated from Nihon University Art Department in 1934 . Selected and performed in the Takarazuka Revue review script open call for participants.
In 1935, he joined the production department of the Tokyo Vocal Film Factory of the same Toho affiliate and studied under Shiro Toyoda , triggered by the public offering of the previous year . Participated as a staff member of " Young People " (1937) and " Kojima no Haru " (1940).
In 1939, he was convened and served.
In 1941, demobilized and returned to the production department of the Tokyo Vocal Film Factory.
Since the company merged with Toho in 1942, he has been the chief assistant director (assistant director / second group director) of Toho's masters and Akira Kurosawa when he was a newcomer .
Married on April 27, 1947. Later, he is given a daughter.
In 1951, he worked for 16 years in Tokyo. → After being invited by producer Keiji Matsuzaki, who had worked with Toho before, he transferred to Toyoko Eiga , and soon after he was reorganized into Toei .
In 1952, he was an assistant director of " Theatre of Life (Part 1 1952-Part 2 1953)" ( Director Shin Saburi ).
In 1953, he was promoted to director with "Ishimatsu on the banks of the fish river" ( co-directed with Eiichi Koishi ).
In 1955, won the "6th Blue Ribbon New Director Award".  * Target works "The Dead Beauty of the Last Train" " Violent City "
In 1956, he directed the movie version of the " Shonen Tanteidan " series for the first time.
In 1958, " Dot and Line " became a big hit. Directed the movie version " Moonlight Mask Series" for the first time.
In 1965, started directing TV movies .
After that, he directed TV dramas and PR movies. In TV movies, he mainly directed Toei and Toho Konosu ( including affiliated company Takarazuka movie ). He also participated in Tsuburaya Productions, which was a subsidiary of Toho at the time, and in particular, in " Mighty Jack ", he has been the de facto main director since he started working to reinforce the pilot version to the main broadcast version.
