Chang Shan Wei is a Taiwanese actor, host, and former singer of Hakka descent, born in Miaoli, Taiwan. He graduated from National Zhunan Senior High School and later from the Department of Educational Information Science at Tamkang University.

In the 1990s, he was discovered by director Chen Yu Xun after appearing in a commercial with his classmates.

On February 12, 2012, while attending a tomb-sweeping event in Bali, New Taipei, he was injured by a falling firework, affecting his eyes and forehead. He received treatment at Tamsui Mackay Memorial Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

Starting in November 2013, his health deteriorated significantly. By November 16, he had difficulty walking and urinating, and the following day, he experienced leg weakness and convulsions. Upon hospitalization, doctors discovered internal bleeding compressing his spinal nerves. After surgery, he became paralyzed from the waist down and remained hospitalized for nine months, during which he limited external communication to protect his privacy, sharing his situation only with family and an assistant. By 2018, while still needing occasional assistance, he had made some progress in rehabilitation, regaining some movement in his toes and ankles.
