Chin Han, born Sun Hsiang Chung (孫祥鐘) in Shanghai, China, is a Taiwanese actor whose career began in 1966. After moving to Hong Kong and then Taiwan, he attended Shilin High School and Kaiping High School. During high school, he joined a training program at Central Film Company and became a basic actor with National United Film Company at the age of 18, debuting in the film "Smiling Mountains" (遠山含笑). After three years of service in the Marine Corps, he returned to Taipei, where he pursued painting, focusing on abstract and landscape art, and sold his works through a gallery operated by his mother. He was later invited to star in his first television drama, "Seven Color Bridge" (七色橋).

Han's father, Sun Yuan Liang, was a high-ranking general in the Republic of China military, and his mother was from Guangdong. He was previously married to Shao Qiao Yin, but their marriage ended in March 1980, though they briefly reunited in early 1981 before separating again in 1983, citing personality differences. Han publicly acknowledged his relationship with Lin Qing Xia in 1985, and their relationship lasted until 1994.
