Yamamoto Shohei was a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator, born in Penghu, Taiwan. He was affiliated with Office Yamamoto (オフィス山本) after previously working with Freeport Pro (フリーポートプロ). He graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan Edogawa High School (東京都立江戸川高等学校).

In 1957, he began his career as a trainee at the Shichiyo-kai (七曜会) theater company. He later worked in the directing department at Sankikai (三期会) theater company and spent three years as a comedian at the Asakusa France-za (浅草フランス座) theater before becoming a freelance actor in 1963, primarily appearing in pink films.

During a hiatus from acting, he worked as a sailor. He was contacted by the editor-in-chief of Naigai Times (内外タイムス), who informed him that Toei (東映) had issued a search request for him. After meeting with director Gosha Hideo (五社英雄), he was cast in the 1974 film Violent Streets (暴力街).

In 1983, Yamamoto joined The Villains Club (悪役商会), a group of actors specializing in villainous roles, founded by actor Yana Nobuo (八名信夫).

Yamamoto passed away from pneumonia in Tokyo on October 30, 2019, at the age of 81.
