The scene where the general was betrayed is just... only HMH can deliver such an intense, emotional, heartbreaking scene in that devastating, soul-crushing way. His acting is in a league of its own.
16 episodes and FL had no character development. I mean, her character is so inconsistent, 1 minute she is smart…
I still haven't watched the new eps, but so far she seems inconsistent to me too. She seems to understand everything that is going on, or at least a good part of it, but then she gets the rest wrong and attacks the ml, who just takes it. It is unfair, but we just ignore it. Then she learn the rest later, but at the same time, it is like she does not understand the weight of what is really happening or takes for granted what she has or what is given to her, and she acts indifferent, childish or even arrogant but a minute later, she acts mature despite what she just did a minute ago.
I don't know what to think of her so far. One second she gives me hope that she is finally growing, and the second later she is childish and acts badly toward the ml which is what hurts me the most. He did everything and more for her while also busy to save the world and survive in the meantime, while she seems to do the bare minimum for him, even forced into it at time and is continuously praised for it. But she still seems not to consider what he does for her with the right weight, or to value his feelings, or even try to know who he really is. Too one-sided for me, in a way that even if they are only friends, is still too one-sided
She seems to understand, but she does not understand. I'm not liking how she is acting. She even keeps lashing out at him, making him feel unfairly and undeservedly guilty. With everything he did for her, that is hard to watch. The drama is still very good, but her behavior is starting to annoy me.
She will have to decide, like everyone else. Whether to follow the hero into battle and remain by his side whatever…
With everything he's already dealing with, I would have preferred if his care for her had been toned down to make it more realistic, or if she had shown more care for him to be fairer.
If ML is a prince too how does this help FL to not end up in the palace?
She will have to decide, like everyone else. Whether to follow the hero into battle and remain by his side whatever his decision may be, or to choose freedom after the hero has given her everything she needs to live her life on her own.
Ok after watching eps 12 I have three new opinions (one clearly more extensive than the rest 😭)1. Allat to…
Totally agree on XJ'attitude towards XWY and her behaviour as a whole in your n2, she's starting to wear on me. I'm even getting tired of the fact that every time something doesn't go the way she wants she ends up ranting at XWY and somehow finding a way to hold him responsible or make him feel guilty when she is in the wrong. After everything he's done for her, everything he's still doing for her, and everything he's trying to do for everyone else and the whole nation, it's starting to be frustrating to watch.
Is it just me, or the FL is too annoying and clueless all the time? Good lord. I honestly don't see her evolving…
I agree, she annoys me too but she has some basics to develop for the better when she finds out everything he has done for her and what is happening around her better. Even their relationship still needs to begin, so it will probably progress together with it.
I noticed that women are especially well written so far: the empress, Jiayu's mom, Wuyi's first consort...
Many character seems to be well written. So far, the ml seems to have a deep complexity for his behaviours that is yet to be shown and interesting to wait to see and the fl's father avoids the typical cliché of the blindly loving somewhat foolish father that many fl often have, it was a surprise. And the changes that the story will bring seem like they will create interesting developments for the fl and 2ml.
Also I must say that I find very interesting that the general has two aides/faithful guards, one of whom is a woman and the other a man. It seems like a very efficient dynamic, as the strengths of one side can cover the other. So far, I see so many things I like!
There's no denying it, this is good. HMH's performance is amazing. His screen presence alone is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat every time he appears. The plot, the strategy, the politics, the twists, the characters, the performances from the entire cast, the bgm and the ost with the splendid op and ending songs by Hmh, everything is just great.
That he did his own stunts and such complex ones at that is such an incredible achievement. If there are any interviews or info about it, a dedicated forum to it should really be created so no one will miss it. He’s such an amazingly dedicated actor.
Wanted to give this drama a shot watching more eps, but the fl really doesn’t fit the role. I like the ml tho, never seen him before but he’s a good actor.

In all honesty, nothing can match this.
