Everybody there besides FL died of illness outbreak. It remains to be seen whether it was man made. Other two guys left the mountain before lockdown 8 years ago. After everybody died there, FL lived there alone for several years.

TFJ is on my rewatch list. In fact, i’ve rewatched some ep more than twice.I just want them to give me a HE😌
I think it greatly benefits from a rewatch. I've started rewatching with my family and many things can be seen in a different light knowing the plot, especially FL's random shenanigans in the beginning. Plus, haphazard lore and a big host of characters are confusing af to those who only start watching, so I'm helping them out with who's who and why.

Same, this drama is all about FL's character and there are still big unresolved things in S1 plot. Also, according to the official synopsis it looks like a direct continuation of the plot, so they gotta return. That crown prince struggling to reign in corrupt jiedushi is accurate history as well, btw, could be interesting.
The hardest part would be for the showrunners to convince Bai Lu to lead another season in this physically demanding role because of her bad back. And I guess it will be years before there are any news. But here's hoping.

The marquis is simply not the sharpest tool in the shed here. And it was completely unnecessary, he could have sent some of his cronies to do it.
As for the consort, she hid it as potential leverage and gave the marquis the fake one. She was smart not to trust the dowager or marquis blindly. So nobody knew the marquis destroyed the fake one and real one still existed.
Yea, don't force yourself. If I started watching this drama mainly for the romance, I'd have dropped it even earlier, I think. Just too lackluster. That separation was egregiously poorly written as well, just for the sake of angsty drama and moving the plot to the mountain.
