In the hands of a good director, her acting is good. Her problem is she shot way too many Chu Yui Bun and Yin…
Ok. I didn't like that one, nor the present day sequel.

No one said ML did correct. Its called understanding two different perspectives. We understand his perspective…
She never told him because at first he definitely would have divorced her right then and there because of her family's involvement. And she was still scared he would do so until the end, so dissuaded herself from telling him. In marriage, the husband holds all the power there it seems.

What's worse, it wasn't actually her family's involvement that got him so angry, but her pitying him. So it was mainly hurt pride talking, making him forget everything he experienced with her.

So yea, I understand ML's pathetic excuses too, but I just think he handled it very poorly and had a ginormous overreaction with immediately wanting divorce, instead of cooling down and thinking more rationally. Just a forced drama for the sake of moving the plot to the mountain.

Ah, you guys are such ML apologists. Don't get swayed by the grey hair. Besides the point of what happened to his brother, which FL had nothing to do with anyway, is that any way to handle your marriage? One big misunderstanding and "imma divorcing you, go back to the mountain"? It's just a dick move in general, ML got off easy. And after what he learned of FL's past he should be apologizing for the rest of his life.
And him getting angry at her for pitying him was shown to be hypocritical since he himself ran off to the mountain pitying her after what he learned.

The divorce had their fingerprints though
Yea, you're right, I rewatched that episode again. What a ginormous overreaction from one misunderstanding. Anyway, I think he'll just shred those upon return. But he needs to be apologizing for the rest of his life, the dick.

Same, I just don't like xianxias in general and those she was in had mediocre plots.

FL’s brain is like a broken pc here - anything triggering tries to access her blocked data about the tragedy and she gets a fatal error message and resets to a previous version.

Does she even remember why she’s on the mountain again? She so readily forgave ML without questioning what he’s doing there and only asked about his grey hair. And she’s so deep in lalaland there, it made me wonder whether she blocked everything about that night as well.

Btw, I don’t think ML served her divorce papers, he only wrote them. But she got so upset, she left because she already thought it was over.

She was very good in her previous drama as well, wasn’t exactly her typical one either. And she fit her role like a glove there. It’s all about the script quality, the actors can’t carry a drama solely on their shoulders. I keep seeing people bash her acting skills, when it’s mostly typecast roles and overexposure that are to blame.

I think she loved him since they first met eight years ago. She threw the pastries ino the carriage when he was…
Ugh, I wouldn't call a childhood connection teenage crush "love" in any drama. And she barely saw the guy back then. This here is doubly ambiguous because it's mixed with FL's kindness towards ML out of guilt and want to get close to him to help him. But they've tried showing her feelings more clearly in later episodes. However, they are also mixed with her trauma and abandonment issues. It's complex here with FL.

I just want to know how YL gets into Lishan Mountain? Nobody is allowed to go in or out of the mountain. I know…
She is allowed to come back because her family, namely grandpa is there. It was mentioned, but not shown. But outsiders can't come in.

-FL was living on and off the mountain before she was 13 years old. Her grandpa was the headmaster there.-FL left…
They didn't want to ask a for help because they said it would be bowing down to rebels (the dowager's faction). They basically died for their principles like idiots and dragged unwilling FL into it as well.

God knows how she survived on that mountain
I don't think she ever came down before setting off to get married. The scholars forbade her from coming down and she was living in lalaland all those years, thinking they're still alive. Also, she didn't have any money.

It's still around half a year after she married ML, was mentioned recently.

God knows how she survived on that mountain
She couldn't buy anything, the mountain was sealed off by the army below. Max what she could have done was growing food herself, but the rice patch was found out to be abandoned.

How long those products can last before rotting? When ML came there everything was in scarce amount and rotted away.
Judging by what they ate with ML that was her staple food for some time. Btw, I didn't know that bamboo shoots are edible.
Not sure what she was eating in winter.

No, he still didn't apologize properly to FL, his limp "I'm sorry" didn't cut it for me. FL is too forgiving…
Exactly. The irony here is that he hated her for feeling sorry for him, but then immediately felt sorry for her and ran off to find her after finding out about her situation. He would still be sitting in his house getting drunk and wallowing in self pity if he didn't stumble upon those letters.

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
Someone please explain the timeline of when A li was in Lishan, when and how the scholars died, how long A Li…
-FL was living on and off the mountain before she was 13 years old. Her grandpa was the headmaster there.
-FL left her father's mansion to return to the mountain one last time with her dying mother when she was around 13 years old. It was 8 years ago.
-Some time later on the mountain the illness outbreak happened. Since they showed FL there looking as an adult she must have been around 16 minimum. So the outbreak happened around 5 years ago.
-She was the only survivor of the outbreak and lost her sanity by witnessing all those deaths and having to bury all of those people. Those high minded scholars didn't want to ask for help from the army below and FL couldn't reach them because other scholars caught her running off for help and forbade her.
-She lived alone on the mountain for those 5 years or so, foraging for food, and learned a lot of things by herself from books.
-In present time she somehow got the edict (prob. a guard came by the gates) from the empress dowager commanding her to come back to her father's home to get married to ML.
