I don't know or speak mandarin but having watched a good bunch of cdramas, I think i could've told if he did have an accent SO strong it would need to be covered up completely...Besides, he has already used his own voice in some projects. And yes, his voice color is really nice and it seemed like he was really good with changing his tone to match the different characters in the trailers so it's a pity they got rid of it like that :(

I don't think he dubbed himself, it sounded like original audio in the trailers to me. There's no reason fr it's just stupidity lmao. I mean it's not the first time we see Youku making stupid decisions regarding to dubbing I'm kind of used to their questionable morals, but it's still a waste of skill to me cause his diction sounded really nice in those trailers

Yeah some actors are in fact not willing to work on their voice and accent and it's quite????? to me cause HOW are you an actor if you don't even want to spend some time working on your LINE DELIVERY (non mainlanders excluded). But it's still mostly the fact that these production companies are sooo greedy, lazy and always want to spend the least time and money and get the most from fans 🤦🏻♀️ DOS was filmed long time ago and they just didn't dub it cause miss ma'am Yangyang (the director) VALUES her work so much. I don't think any period drama that started shooting AFTER this dubbing rule was established and announced, which was January, has aired yet. We shall wait and see if it will actually work and I REALLY hope it does cause it's getting tiring even for VAs at this point.

I don't think that any actor who has a decent standard mandarin accent and has actually WORKED on his voice like him would want to get dubbed. It's either his label or the production team. YZ has more creative freedom and control over what she does compared to him.

I visited Sword and Fairy's page cause i like Esther, saw some people complaining about her voice, thought they were xk fans and said they shouldn't do that when xk himself needs to work on his accent.
