Don't really care what woman hating mdl users anf yaoi soldiers say wen xiao is an amazing, unique and very complex character (my fave among the whole ensemble tbh even though gjm sort of abandoned her char and stopped trying to develop her at some point) and to me cdl put out the he strongest acting performance in this show. She also pulled the biggest uno reverse by how she has great chem with every single one in the cast while so many ppl kept bashing her previously for not having chem with her partners. No matter what relationships she has with another char, she executes the emotions so well I fvcking d!e for her duo with ANYBODY. Sisterly love, romantic love, friendly love. Hell she even has chemistry with the little kids as a big sister 😭 She had chemistry with chars that had a 2 min cameo like she's CRAZY!!!!
All the actors here have previously had the spotlight but cdl is the one who got to show her full potential for the 1st time amd I'm happy for her, even with gjm's shortcomings and how he very expectedly stops caring about female characters after a dozen episodes lol

dir. yin tao is the kind of idol drama director that comes out with very surpringly good stuff out of absolutely nowhere every once in a while so this could turn out to be a very good one while not many are expecting anything from it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I mean they're saying it's super high budget and all but I don't think this is a genre the main leads' fans are particularly into, that's why I'm saying it might end up attracting an unexpectedly different audience if the investigation part is actually good!

so romance confirmed 🫠 well at least I hope it actually blends well and is super subtle bc romance side plot in mystery investigation dramas are usually very cringe and out of place...idk I'm kind of getting sick of and bored with hetero romance and need lulu to explore different geners but her boss is yz so whatever ig. Please just have good writing and do the mystery part justice!!!!

The way this scored 7.5 on douban further proves than idol dramas should do what they're supposed to do which is be fun and entertaining without interrupting the fun by inserting huge plotholes and terrible writing. Intl fans always call cnetz and douban users crazy haters (which is also kind of racist tbh) but the way the only xianxia/xuanhuan idol dramas that get better ratings and good feedback in china are the lighthearted and cute ones (clj, bftb, tiger & rose are pretty much the only ones I can think of) prove they really aren't haters and the thing that baffles them is a show that thinks it's edgy and serious but has spent 0 effort to make the writing serious as well lmao

And btw since some of you ppl keep pissing all of us off so bad I'm gonna let it out of my chest: Esther's role in mjty is the blandest and least interesting char she has played in her career. I don't care that yws was "badass" or whatever. Her other chars have been special enough to be cute and fem but also carry characteristics that make the typical "white lotus" cutsy fl stand out while the so called badass yws fell flat because of gjm's lackluster writing. Hanging swords around and looking tough are not the only things that can make female characters interesting lmao. You all are so sexist for thinking what makes women cool and strong is doing what men always do

People b!tching and moaning abt esther's voice in the age of 2024 while staning actors who would be torn to pieces by cnetz for their terrible line delivery if VAs didn't save their lives. KINDLY sayin, shut that mouth if you don't even speak Chinese and don't know how rare it is for an idol actor like ysx to actually have clear diction and a good standard accent AND always resist on doing her own voice over unlike so many who can't live without a VA sweeping the mess that is their lack of practice and determination to do their job properly.

I'm kind of shocked by how ppl are saying the comedy is "cringe" and "out of place" 😭 don't really understand how people want idol dramas to be serious so bad...so many intl fans watch all these idol dramas with 10 plot holes and tons of logic defying moments in every episode and hype the living hell out of them, then attack you when you tell them these shows are overhyped and cntez are not "haters" for pointing all those flaws that can't be ignored out...mjty was trying so hard to be edgy and dark while the writing was extremely lacking (distracting from the "dark" vibe it was trying to project to the audience lol) and then there was a jarring comic relief character thrown in the middle of the show every once in a while which was WAY more out of place than this show's comedy imo.
FOF's story revolves around a group of ppl going on an adventure and the comedy comes from the chars contrasting personalities and their natural sense of humour (the sarcasm and sass is litterally part of their psych). These actually make up for a way more fitting comedy, which is also gonna help the slow burn frienship bond between the chars form in a believable and realistically process, compared to mjty.
Also tbf, gjm is still not that good at writing conflicts and solving them so I prefer it to be more lighthearted 🤷🏻‍♀ I can't take a badly written story that thinks it's oh- so-cool seriously at all lmao
