Exactly. That’s why so many of us connected with their romance. Even though we knew they were acting, it never really felt that way. Their chemistry felt natural and effortless, and the way they interacted, looked at each other, and understood one another made the relationship feel genuine rather than scripted.

The writers deserve credit too. They created a romance that felt relatable and grounded instead of overly dramatic or unrealistic. It was the kind of relationship that people could actually see themselves in, which made it easy to connect with and root for from beginning to end.

They had a misunderstanding because of Chen Yan Yun’s nephew CQX but it doesn’t last don’t worry. There was no last minute happy ending, they resolved their issues and continued to love each other and work together

I thank everyone that truly pushed aside the stereotypes and enjoyed watching Cisha’s Character. I am super grateful to those people that actually understood the character-Chen Yan Yun. I wish Cisha many more amazing projects to come. He needs more general and historical roles

Totally agree. Chen Yan Yun’s admiration for Jin Zhao and eventual love for her was there on the screen for all to see, anyone that doesn’t see it. That is their problem. Like you rightly said, Cisha has set a standard that idols cannot meet. His acting is indeed not exaggerated at all.

I literally don’t care about reviews or ratings. Whether it is a book, movie or drama. I am fully aware we all have different tastes and I refuse to let anyone tell me what they think I should watch or judge me for what I enjoy.

If I see something I think I will like, I go for it. And if I like it, that is all that matters to me.

It genuinely surprises me when people say they didn’t see Chen Yan Yun’s love for Jin Zhao or that it came out of nowhere. Sometimes I wonder if we are all watching the same drama. I think viewers have become so used to grand declarations and overly dramatic expressions of love that they forget not every character is written that way.

I love actors who can convey emotions through their eyes, so it was easy for me to notice his initial curiosity and eventual interest in her. It was there in his expressions, his gaze, and the way he looked at her. His feelings never felt sudden or forced. His behavior was exactly what I would expect from someone older and more experienced. He understood two important things:

1. Her age.
2. That if he pushed too hard, she would pull away.

Not every character is meant to wear their heart on their sleeve. Some are written to express love through their actions, restraint, and the subtle details in their expressions. Chen Yan Yun always reminds me of a more mature version of Lan Wangji from The Untamed. Like Lan Zhan, he isn’t overly expressive with words, but his feelings are obvious if you’re paying attention.

The drama delivered exactly what I expected based on the novel. Just like in the source material, Jin Zhao wasn’t head over heels in love with him from the start. Her feelings developed gradually as she realized he was the one person who genuinely cared for her, protected her, and consistently put her first. The drama did an excellent job portraying that slow growth of affection and trust. In fact, I think that’s why some viewers say they “didn’t see her fall for him” because it was never meant to be sudden or dramatic.

I love YeXian as a character, but I personally never saw the chemistry. To me, he was completely wrong for her on many levels. And as someone who doesn’t enjoy toxic love interests for female leads, Chen Yan Yun was always the better match.

Hence the title: A Splendid Match.

Yes agree, that’s because they dint have the budget for it. It cost alot to promote a drama and the sponsors obviously dint want to commit to it.

I pray that this drama open doors for Cisha and Renmin and they become insanely successful such that their future projects can be promoted successfully. They deserve it.

I know other good dramas will air and I will enjoy it, but I know nothing will give me the masculine vibe and maturity I got from A Splendid Match. I already know nothing will take its place

Honestly I am just going to watch any drama aired for the fun of it, I already know nothing will replace A Splendid Match, because I know their ML won’t give me the same masculine energy I got from A Splendid Match.

The drama is a solid 10, even though I wanted more from the ending, that ending is not enough to take away how good the drama was.

Unfortunately the first people that reviewed the show are the ones that don’t like it, if you go down more reviews you will see the people that genuinely love it and understand the depth the drama has.

Unfortunately we cannot do anything about people’s opinions and likes. That is why I pray other people that haven’t watched the show will not swayed by those first few reviews and give the show a chance.

I have rewatched this drama so many times that I think I might actually have a problem at this point. 😅 Throughout all those rewatches, one thing I’ve consistently noticed is the chemistry and magnetic pull between Chen Yan Yun and Jin Zhao, the way he looks at her, he never looked at anyone like that.

Honestly, I never once saw any romantic attraction between YeXian and Jin Zhao. To me, their relationship always felt more like that of siblings, built on familiarity rather than romance. Besides I don’t even want them together, with all that she had been through she needed a man and not a boy. The way I see it, if they did end up together he would have beaten her one day, he has pulled a weapon on her not once, not twice…three times. I actually love his character especially towards the end but I saw no chemistry.

With Chen Yan Yun, however, I noticed a spark from the very first episodes. The attraction didn’t suddenly appear out of nowhere for me; the drama was building it from the beginning and they cannot rush that because of the age thing. Of course, that’s just my opinion , and everyone is free to see it differently.

Exactly, I don’t know why we needed to see them with kids, we all have imaginations we can use that to creat whatever Happy Ending scene we wanted.

What I actually wanted more of towards the end was to see the kingdom adjust to the death of the evil people and the young emperor ruling in peace.

But even with all that. I am completely satisfied with the drama. Are the main leads alive at the end? If yes, then I am happy.
