There is an actual Chinese remake of Something in the Rain. It is called Love the Way You Are. You can find it on Viki and iQiyi. It released in 2022.

I really hope this series either finishes airing before Novemebr 28th or that Viki or Netflix will get streaming rights for it. My Youku annual VIP subscription expires November 28th, and since Youku is no longer available in the US, I wont be able to renew it 😭😭😭😭

I have had the exact same thoughts about why anyone would be willing to invest in these Chinese same-sex adaptation dramas that are meant to air in China when they know that there is a very large chance it may take years to air or may never air at all. It just doesn't make sense from a financial gains point of view. It would make more sense to invest in these types of dramas if the plan was for the drama to only air on streaming platforms outside of China, such as was the case with the Chinese Bromance drama "Stay With Me", which was very nearly fully into the BL category, and was practically spitting in the face of Chinese Censorship laws. Stay With Me did give me a laugh at how it was so blatantly giving the finger to Chinese Censorship without actually crossing the line into being a full-on BL, though it was most certainly implied in several scenes.
