He did not break it because he saw Pete heartbroken, the whole plan was to break it. Thats why that guy said to Pete that Niran hadnt lied to him but to them. Niran meant to release the souls from the get go, he did not support that sh!t of sacrificing people for the bigger cause. However, it didn't change the fact he kept them all in the dark, even Pete.

I think you are not familiar with the genre and the lore it has.
It's a modern and juvinile version of a typical Chinese action fantasy story. The universe created in this story justifies their instant soul connection and their acting performs it perfectly in that context.
I think it is one of the best scripts GMMtv has produced, considering its genre.
