Person He Chang Xi
He Chang Xi is the main lead in BL Sammy’s Children’s Day. Around that time, a big Chinese mainstream drama, Pursuit of Jade https://mydramalist.com/760409-zhu-yu. was also airing, and I watched both and I loved both series.

Sammy’s Children’s Day was a 10/10 for me, but what happened with Pursuit of Jade made me so angry.

He played Song Yan in Pursuit of Jade, but they AI’d his face out because they didn’t want a BL actor appearing in a mainstream drama. MDL even recorded his role as “Body Only.” Imagine working so hard on a mainstream drama and then not even being recognised because of homophobia in China.

But I guess good karma came back around. Sammy’s Children’s Day became popular, and He Chang Xi finally got the recognition he deserved. After everything that happened with Pursuit of Jade, I’m honestly so happy to see him getting his moment now.

Title Ash
2 days to go! I’m so excited! It looks like the actors are Hong Kongers, and in the trailer they spoke Cantonese, not Mandarin, so does that mean this is a Hong Kong BL rather than a China BL?

I’m so excited! I think this will be my first ever Hong Kong BL!

Great thank you so much.

And I agree when it comes to BL. China dominates in acting, plot, cinematics, and fight choreography. No other country does it better. Japan is consistently good, while Korea and Thailand can be a hit or miss, but China consistently produces some of the best BLs. Imagine if they didn’t have censorship. It would be absolutely explosive.

I'm so happy that we get two final episodes this week but also not ready to say goodbye 😭 I will miss them…
Me too, I’ll miss them, but we’ll get Ash premiering this week and Kiss or Kill soon as well, so at least we have 2 new Chinese BLs to look forward to.

Someone on Facebook posted that episodes 11 and 12 will be released this week, but the MDL episode countdown says episode 12 is next week on the 21st. So I’m not sure if it’s true or not that we’ll get 2 episodes this week.

Another high school BL, but this one feels so fresh and special! Suzuki is a shy loner and a huge BL fan who writes his own novels, while Serizawa is the popular, gorgeous and surprisingly humble guy. I love their opposites attract dynamic, especially that both are openly BL fans. The visuals, OST and friendship are all lovely, and I already know this will be my comfort show for the next 2.5 months! 💗

Thank you for this! I didn’t even know this BL existed. Lucky I follow you here on MDL!

I can’t seem to find the second Japanese BL you mentioned in your review, (popular guy x not popular guy) .

Do you have the MDL page link for that one?

They always love introducing a third person into the couple 😂 So the nephew saw his uncle holding hands with Ainosuke on the street. I’m not sure why he’s trying to make a move and asking if Ainosuke is single. This is so common in BL, always introducing a third wheel, but honestly, I’m all for it 😂

Imagine being a 38 year old guy, single, and completely convinced that you could never fall for someone like him. Then, little by little, he starts to find a way into your heart.

He protects you, shields you, and when you are attacked at the bar, he puts himself in harm’s way and gets hurt trying to protect you. And despite all his fears, he finds the courage to stand in front of you and confess the feelings he has been carrying in his heart.

How could you not be moved by that kind of love?

Honestly, if I were in his shoes, that kind of love would make me question everything I thought I knew about myself. It could turn me from straight to gay without hesitation. Because when someone loves you that deeply, protects you that fiercely, and chooses you even when it hurts, maybe love stops being about gender and simply becomes about the person who makes your heart feel safe.

That kind of love would absolutely melt me. ❤️

I just watched the first 10 minutes and OMG, I was NOT expecting this. It was already so hard to watch. A student committed suicide, and then the bullies were brutally hurting this poor kid until he bleed. I was honestly so upset watching it.

BUT THEN NA HWA JIN CAME IN AND STARTED TAKING DOWN THE BULLIES. That was SO satisfying to watch!!

Okay, I’m definitely continuing this. I need to see Na Hwa Jin protect these kids and stand up to the bullies.

Study Group is one of my favourite series, and I heard this one shares the same universe. In Study Group, the male lead has super strength and powers, which I really loved because he has the ability to protect himself and others.

I really want to watch Teach You a Lesson because I’ve seen so many good reviews, but I get so sad and emotional watching these poor kids being bullied, and I honestly don’t know if I can handle it.

Should I start it? How extreme is the bullying? Is it really brutal and difficult to watch, or is it more manageable? I need to mentally prepare myself before I start 😭

This series is so good and addictive that I could binge watch all 10 episodes right now. What do you mean we have to wait another 7 days for the next episode? Why can’t Japan 🇯🇵 release two episodes a week? 😂
