Since I don't know which exact timeline you are talking about I can't give you a pinpoint answer also the drama in 18 episodes is already almost 1 year is finished. So most probably Sang Zhi is in or starting her 1st year of college in Yihe. And Duan Jaixu is also promoted.
In the present time (TFF time when the show is ongoing) he travels to meet Sang Yan a couple of times. Not only that Sang Yan in Hidden Love tells Sang Zhi (when she was in the first year and met Duan Jaixu at Ktx stairs while celebrating a friend's birthday) that she should treat him to a meal and be grateful (kinda) cause he always kept in touch on all kind of occasion and she stopped talking to him. This is shown in the first episode when Duan Jaixu calls to wish happy new year and till then Sang Zhi doesn't visit Yihe and replies to him with excitement.

- why I'm asking this. I didn't notice the difference. When I was watching HL, I found Sang Yan to have layers of personality similar to Duan Jaixu. He was easy-going and bubbly around his people but rarely talked about himself. His family even his roommates didn't know much about his emotions (or I can say personal life) for example he didn't talk much about his bar and what he was doing exactly nor about why he was not going on blind dates or his girlfriend, he had no one knew why he drank too much on graduation day. There are so many things that Sang Yan in HL didn't share. Not only that, when he brought Duan Jaixu his parents didn't say that his friend might be lying to him but trusted him when he brought Jaixu and Jaixu asked for a loan, when Sang zhi ran to Yihe and sang yan took her back home he talked to his parents and asked them to not questions as she already regrets it. The parents listen, making me believe even if he had an easy-going, fun-loving personality, his character has more depth and maturity at the same time. It's just that portion was not prominent in the show. I'm not saying it was completely absent. Now I'm watching TFF, and I can still see his funny and comic side. Even though he is serious, mature, and brooding in the presence of Yifan, his behavior is still the same around his family, duan jaixu, even with Yifan when we see the old school days. And again both sides of his personality are present here as well with one being prominent and not completely absent
I can't explain how much I'm enjoying this drama and the pace it is going. I also love how both POVs differ but still stay the same and flow the same for both Sang siblings. I also love the character of Wen Yifan. ZRN is such an amazing actor in my books, and she is actually the reason I am watching this show. As I'm watching this, I love the way BJT portrays Sang Yan. (I know there are a lot of people who wanted Victor Ma but in all honesty, BJT is portraying the character so well; in most ways, he is reminding me of Sang Yan in HL)
I love both the drama and I am not the person who is comparing them to each other. Surprisingly, I can see the same manners in the characters played by different actors. That being said, here are things that I love and make me love both the drama even more. The parents, I'm glad that Sang Zhi's pov of how amazing and supportive their parents were, is the same as Sang Yan's pov, telling how amazing Sang's parents were towards their kid. Duan Jaixu and Sang Yan are present or mentioned in almost every other episode, saying their friendship is really stronger, and it is not just what Sang Zhi sees through her perspective. Also, they are never beating that allegation 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine you love someone and situations turn out to be most unhinged or even simply crazy, your love will not disappear in a matter of seconds. What are you even talking about and also hate FL for no reason at all.
NGL, MDL comment section is like people only come to complain, but it affects other people's perceptions because after reading comments, they either do not start the show or start with a ready-made perspective. On top of that, I have seen so many people comment on many dramas where they don't even get a lot of simple information provided by the drama. Forget the foreshadowing detail. It's like people don't even watch drama properly and just come here to say it's boring I'm dropping it.

I understand you. But I didn't ask for SZ and DJ to be highlight here neither I want ZL & CZY to act here. I understand the story is through WYF pov and I love that love how it’s going. Maybe i didn’t see the actor more that’s why thought so; I also don’t know how long they are going to appear i’m only on 1st episode and they seems even more forget full when I first saw them and it actually reminded me of thoso mini cdramas where only main leads are casted well.
