Another anti made a big deal of Dylan's asymmetrical eyes a few months ago in this comment thread. LOL Is this…
I notice this condition with my eyes when I haven't had enough sleep. Dylan is known to work so hard he misses a lot of sleep.

I've seen his childhood photos and his eyes look even. So it seems like lack of sleep might be the reason for his condition and the fact that he doesn't mind being on camera with no or little make-up and he is not particular about how he appears on camera.

There is a song that always gives me goosebumps. It goes, "It is better to light just one little candle than to stumble in the dark. Better far that you light just one little candle all you need is a tiny spark..."

It's a simple song that jaded listeners would likely dismiss as cheesy. But it tells the truth and speaks to the heart.

I wish I can sing it with you now 😃

Preacher spotted. Stop judging others, they're not your clowns. Even this drama creators won't care much about…
Another abomination encouraged by social media is attacking without understanding what is being attacked. LIES are LIES, whether the subject matter is fictional or not. Likewise, negativity is negativity whether in fictional setting or not. In any case, one form of attack is lobbied against REAL people - actors who have worked hard to bring entertainment to the public. The least the public can do in return is respect that hard work and refrain from shooting down the products of the hard work with LIES.

The belief that everybody can say or do whatever they want is precisely what is wrong with society now. Freedom of speech is a right. But with each right comes responsibility. And the responsibility that comes with freedom of speech is to TELL THE TRUTH. In addition, society and social media are in dire need of plain DECENCY. Truth and decency are values that would serve society well, and those who would rather wallow in a cesspool of negativity are the ones deluding themselves that the negative values they practice in social media would not seep through to the real world.

You say you're talking about his character, yet you're obviously out to blacken the actor. TASTE is different for different people. If you don't like the actor, don't watch. Nobody is forcing you. I'm just wondering why you're bothering to blacken him. There are many people who think Dylan is the handsomest cdrama actor. People who have seen him in person gush at his beauty that they say can't be captured by the camera. To people like me who think he is the handsomest cdrama actor, all other cdrama actors would be less attractive. But do we bother blackening these other actors? We have better things to do than propagate negativity.

Thank you! I'd much much rather be called a preacher than an envious blackheart who can't stand seeing others happily discussing favored dramas/actors and who would LIE, inventing or exaggerating flaws (e.g. 20 episodes of 0 communication, 20 episodes of dumb fl, etc), just to put dramas and actors down. So, in your book, negatively judging dramas, actors and fans is acceptable, but a call to positivity is to be scoffed at? Such double standard is appalling and is another proof that evil has taken hold of social media.

"Happy people don't allow negativity... They don't put others down... Putting others down is usually a sign of your own insecurities."

Man, there are many unhappy and insecure people in this thread, I fear.

This drama is one of the best Chinese rom-coms I've watched. It's funny and romantic. But to really enjoy it, you need to understand the humor. If you can't get it, I suggest reading the reviews, discussions and comments if you are serious about trying to understand this drama. If you're not serious, why even bother leaving negative comments? Just to foster negativity? As I said, there seem to be many unhappy and insecure people in this thread.

I don’t know why people love Dylan, he looks very awkward and actually a bad actor - also with the glasses,…
It's called TASTE. And your ENVY is dripping. For some people, including me, Dylan is the handsomest cdrama actor and has great acting talent, a master in the art of nuanced acting and has natural comedic chops too. Tell me who your favorite actor is and I guarantee I can point out at least 3 flaws he has. He must be so lacking in looks and talent that you have to criticize another actor to make yourself feel better about your favorite.

Here's probably another reason Bai Lu and Dylan Wang are much envied, causing this drama to be heavily attacked by those poisoned with envy:

Sohu releases Media's favorite artists in 2023,
2️⃣ #DylanWang
3️⃣ #BaiLu

See https://twitter.com/Cpop_Melon/status/1750728414053761389

Both artists are generally praised for being nice and courteous with no attitude. Apparently, some artists smoke during interviews or have many requirements about how they look in photographs.

This drama has been attacked like crazy by:
* web accounts paid to blacken actors and dramas by antis or other actors. See the discussion in https://mydramalist.com/discussions/cuo-liao/121285-who-still-believes-in-douban
* viewers who can't get the campy humor probably due to https://stevetobak.com/2018/12/25/millennials-have-no-sense-of-humor/
* antis of actors or of their pairing

Courtesy is indeed disappearing from mainstream consciousness. It's now about being bombastic, whatever grabs the attention. This has plagued not only dramas, politics too. Actually, any topic on social media.

I've also been wondering why people can't just cheer for their favorite actors and couples. Why smear perceived rivals of favorites? If you notice, after smearing this drama, some commenters plug in other dramas starring Bai Lu or Dylan with other co-stars. These viewers have been predisposed to not like this drama because they want the stars to be with other co-stars. Of course one can't stop people from having other favorites. People have different tastes. But why lie and smear instead of just dropping out quietly? Social media has empowered man's inclination for nastiness, that's why.

Thank you so much for the honor. In this world where logic, truth and justice are giving way to fake news, it's great to find kindred spirits.

I just engaged in a discussion over a review that told outright lies about this drama, alleging "zero communication, dumbest FL, overconfident but foolish BFF, the most cliche-lazily written plot and lots of investment business talks we don't care about — is what we get here for more than 20 episodes".

It's really sad how social media has empowered such distortions of truth and logic. People just want to believe what they want to believe, supporting lies that support hidden agenda such as smearing perceived rivals of favorite actors and couples.

Man always manages to use tools for nefarious purposes. Instead of using a drama's discussion section to help understand a drama better, dissecting characters and dialogues to find out what messages the writer, director and actors want to impart in each scene, like how a writer's intention is analyzed in book reviews, here we are just dealing with lies after lies after lies.

I don't believe anything she says anymore. She's one of the reasons I've abandoned Youtube which has become a vessel of fake news. Before abandoning YT altogether, I had her channel set to "Don't recommend channel" in my account. She's like all those YXH (netizens paid to defame celebs and dramas) who would say anything to have something to post. She didn't even finish OFL. She lost the right to review it. Logically speaking, one shouldn't review a drama she hasn't fully watched (by skippimg scenes or dropping it) and at least tried to understand. Otherwise, it's like a judge who makes a decision without considering all known information about a case.

And what nonsense making another video about the best and worst dramas of 2023. How many 2023 dramas did she watch? Has she even watched 50% of them?

When has pointing out FACTS and SENSE become over-analyzing? Only for those who are too eager to find fault, watching a drama not to understand it but to criticize it. You seem to have forgotten your advice to "just watch this drama and skip until both your fingers and brain is tired af." As noted previously, it's irresponsible to advice viewers to skip scenes. Reviewers have a responsibility to write reliable reviews, not distortions of facts and logic.

Regarding their witty exchanges, your examples of wit ("when did NOT explaining a misunderstanding to your partner" and "NOT apologizing") are so off the mark. How could they have exchanges, much less show their wit, in those scenarios you cited when they were not communicating? Oh, perhaps you have skipped those parts when they were actually communicating, like their texts, the "making cake" scene, when Shi Yan posted a part of Xiaguang Temple with the caption, "Pathways never swept for a visitor's sake. My hunble gate only opens for you", when Shi Yan arranged all fortune sticks in a canister so all the fortune say, "The right one is already deeply in love", and many other delightful exchanges. Too bad you probably skipped or simply refused to understand those and missed such precious and titillating scenes.

Yes we watched the same drama but I think I only noticed what I was presented or maybe went only to a certain…
When has there ever been a rule that a breathing space should only be up to a certain length of time? A breathing space in a relationship is when the parties do not communicate with each other and it can be for as long as they need to come to a decision. And it can lead to a final break-up. if you were watching, you would have noticed that throughout the breathing space, both of them were mulling over their relationship. With Shi Yan talking to Guan Ji and Shi Yue for advice. And Shu Yi even going to his house to attempt a reconciliation but got stymied when she saw Shi Yan with Fiona.

In any case, the fact that you said they had zero communication for 20 episodes is a lie, so is the allegation that Shu Yi is the dumbest FL for 20 episodes. The allegation that the business talks that nobody cared about went on for 20 episodes has two lies:
1. Some viewers did care about the business talks. If you read the comments in the Comment section, you'll find many viewers who liked those business talks. They revealed much about Shi Yan's intelligence, competence and business savvy, as well as Shu Yi's brilliance as well as their compatibility in terms of intelligence, interests and values
2. The business talks did not go on for 20 episodes

Regarding those who liked your review, there are netizens called YXH who are paid to defame celebrities and dramas. And their business is proliferating, obviously because it is effective in swaying innocent viewers who don't know that there are netizens who would brazenly lie on the internet. That is, it is a known fact that many netizens trust whatever they read online. I noticed that a lot of viewers mentioned skipping scenes. This would have the effect of those viewers missing out on some details about the drama. And they probably rely on "better-informed" reviewers to give them those details. Thus, it is the responsibility of reviewers to give reliable reviews. Encouraging viewers to skip scenes is not responsible. This drama, especially, has a campy humor that can only be appreciated when the nuances are felt. And that cannot be felt when scenes are skipped. This drama is also character-driven, thus understanding the characters is fundamental to appreciating the drama. Again, skipping scenes would deny viewers the necessary information to understand the characters. Thus, it is obvious that skipping scenes or not completing a drama would only allow for a terribly misleading review.

Good for you. It's really best to focus on real life than virtual. I'm staying on at Twitter because of the 2024 election. There needs to be some sane voice to counter the crazy noise. After November, I'll withdraw from it. As for mydramalist, like another commenter here, I'm finding it hard to withdraw while I see injustice being done on some dramas like OFL.

Is the misunderstanding what you meant with zero communication for 20 episodes? The zero communication happened for at most 2 episodes. And if you really wanted to understand the story, you would have welcomed the misunderstanding as it was the best way to knock some sense into the spoiled Shu Yi. Yes, she's not perfect, and the growth of the characters makes the story unique and intriguing. In real life, lovers sometimes need breathing space. Why can't they in a drama? But I repeat, the zero communication did not happen for 20 episodes. And the FL is not dumb, least of all, the dumbest as you allege. She is an intelligent reporter but, like many people, has some quirks. Reviews should help other viewers understand the drama better, not mislead them with lies.

Did we watch the same drama? Did you actually watch the drama and try to understand it? Or were you just itching to criticize it? The main leads communicated a lot. They are intelligent people who communicated not through sweet-nothings but through infinitely more advanced mental games - witticisms. Their texts show how witty they are. Witticisms expose not only a person's sense of humor but whether two people understand each other on a cerebral basis. Did you skip the 2-hour interview in the car? An interview that picks someone's brain is a much more effective way of communication between intelligent people than sweet-nothings. Through the questions, the interviewee finds out how the interviewer thinks, what the interviewer values. Through the answers, the interviewer learns much more about the interviewee than sweet-nothings would provide. This is why some interviewers and interviewees end up in romantic relationships, like Jack and Jackie Kennedy. The following discussion topic would help you understand these two characters better: https://mydramalist.com/discussions/cuo-liao/121097-choosing-a-partner-like-a-venture-capitalist-with-shi-yan-long-analysis
