I'm on epi 11 now, please tell me that she comes out of this "depression" at some point. As much as I want to watch it all, I'm really considering skipping epi just to see if she brightens up a bit.

I'm watching now, epi 11 and even before I read your post all I could think is that something really drastic happened in her life to make her go from the vibrant young girl to this quiet mouse who barely speaks. I agree the shift was so drastic. After reading some more of the reviews, it'll be good to see what caused the change. I'm in it till the end.

This is another one that the parents are so totally obnoxious it makes me wonder how much patricide or matricide there is in China and how spineless the "children" are that they allow the parents to run their lives, until the parents finally die. (I know, sounds harsh, I'm sorry). I've spent so much time skipping the parents parts. Her father wants to support her, but he's so spineless he won't go against his wife. This is my second time viewing this, watched it the first time when I first started watching these and I had forgotten the parents, had forgotten what a doormat the FL was and what an ass the ML was. I certainly don't think I'll be finishing it this time.

I'm actually watching it a second time right now and the only thing I can think is that because it was one of the very first kdramas I watched at the beginning of last year, I had forgotten all the emotional trauma it can cause. I really hate the parents on all sides for so many different reasons. I think I must not have paid as close attention the first time.

Anna made me crazy, yes she was sweet, but she comes back into Dan Dan's life 27 years later, keeps the relationship secret and then thinks she can direct Dan Dan's love life. I kept thinking shut up and go back to America.

watching this for the 2nd time and all I can think is the first time I must not have paid attention because this is making me crazy. How these young people in Korea put up with the abuse from their elders is beyond me. Se Ryeon's mother is abusive, both physically and emotionally and Se Ryeon just takes it all and expects her half brother Yeong Guk to take it too. If I was him, Dae Ran would have been out of my house by a few big body guards and anyone that let her back in would be fired. Dan Dans father is an idiot, he continues to put up with the wife and her family even after they had screwed him out of money numerous times and then when he finds out that Dan Dan is dating Yeong Guk he thinks it's okay to lock her in her room...she's 27 freaking years old, she's not a child. What is with this culture? I don't know if this is just the way the writers wrote it or if this is the way it really is, but why does nobody call these "elders" out on their abuse. Se Ryeon just says "Mom" instead of telling her to STFU, even Dan Dan's family, instead of calling the cops when she comes storming into the restaurant, let her walk away. All I can think, is grow a backbone and stand up for yourselves.

I never felt the least bit sorry for her, she was an entitled rich girl that didn't even consider getting her job done by skill but used her father's connections. Could she have been as successful without them, who knows. Yes, she knew she got where she did by those connections and she was glad to let everyone know that she was better than them because of it. How many times did she tell him that she could get him to higher places because of who she knew? I had to laugh when they were at the university and she was sitting at the table with their classmates inferring that she and him were close, then the other guy comes in and tell them all that he just met Ji Yu Heng and his girlfriend, Tang looked like she'd sucked on a lemon, sorry, but she deserved it. Its one thing to have those connections and even use them but she tried to force him to love her by telling him she could get him where he wanted to be by being with her.

It's not often I can say this in these cdramas, but I loved her parents, his mother too. They were funny and warm and loving to both and to each other. So different from so many.

I just finished it for the second time and I have to agree with you. The writers did a great job of portraying young adults who were responsible and ready to get on with their lives. Conflict was spoken about instead of silently making each other miserable.

I have to disagree with your take on the ML character. As most young men and women in these cdramas, they don't have a clue about expressing their admiration for the opposite sex. I never saw him do anything creepy or scary. He took her flowers when she graduated and when he saw that there was another guy there, he turned around and left. So what that he didn't have another relationship in those 11 years, if you watch many of these they don't jump from relationship to relationship. He never bothered her, he never saw her in those 11 years, he let her live her life with out even knowing he was interested, that is far from stalking, a stalker will let you know that he or she isn't happy about your other relationship, you will get notes or phone calls, etc. He let her get on with her life without the slightest hint that he liked her. When he found out that she was no longer with the other guy, he came back and then stepped in to try to have a relationship with her. To me it never looked ominous or scary. And coercing her family? What was that. When they decided to get married all he did was bring all his important papers to her parents to let them know that he was responsible and would take good care of her, how is that coersion? When her mother signed her up for the blind date, unless I missed a real big part of this, the mother didn't know about him, she didn't set this up, he found out and decided that was when he could meet her again.

why do they give the FL the worst friends? They are either really stupid, really immature or just plain selfish. Niannian comes into their home and expects to sleep with the FL, interrupts every time they start to get romantic and acts like she doesn't see a thing.....go home you idiot, just because she didn't get her way with the SML and they are usually so entitled that they don't see their shortcomings at all, makes me want to scream at the FL to cut her losses.

being from the West, I will never understand this forgive & forget when it comes to family, so it's okay to kill off the major portion of the family but gee, that's okay because you're family too? It really seems that in the majority of the cdramas the bad guy never gets punished, they just forgive, seems odd to me.

LOL - thank you. Every time she comes on I just have to ff through her scenes, she's a flippin idiot and sorry, but I don't even think she has that one brain cell.
