His gay panic made me laugh so hard in the first half, then the second half was quite sobering.

He was hurt because he realised Sheng failed on purpose and he realised it’s to do with the distance and sudden line Sheng was drawing between them when he suddenly started to address him as ‘brother’. He realised that Sheng was purposefully pulling away and that he would be losing him. It’s more than just about him leaving the class. Sheng had purposely decided to leave him/abandon him and retract on their closeness. It’s unclear if Tian has figured out why Sheng is doing this but he realises this is what Sheng is doing and it hurts because it feels like Sheng is ending their relationship/closeness. Tian opened up to Sheng and became vulnerable by daring to ‘build a life’ with him and now it seems like he’s been abandoned again.

That would be a nice idea.

Even though this drama includes some of the cliche tropes in k-dramas, it’s done in a way that kinda works for these characters. I really like how grey and layered the four leads, the sisters, the sister’s boyfriend, the FL’s mother and the ex are. I didn’t think at the beginning I’d warm to any redemption of the ex ever but here we are. I’m a little sad that the ex’s wife turned out to be not as I expected. Those two characters are the opposite of where I thought they were going with them. I also hope that they give the ex’s wife a little more depth so she doesn’t come across as pantomime-ish.

Each episode still has me in stitches. Their comedic chops are just chef’s kiss.

Also hoping they don’t throw away certain storylines such as the orphanage and the project there, the girl that has a crush on ML and the ex’s wife’s ambition for him. I hope these don’t just go nowhere.

This is a dark bl or LGBTQ story done right (imo). It’s not polished by any means but it feels very human. It’s so raw and gritty. The leads are two deeply broken people learning to love each other and themselves. I am eternally grateful I stumbled upon it.

Agree. I watched ep1 just to see what it was about and ended up binging the whole thing because it was such a gritty, heartfelt portrayal of these characters’ lives. Like someone said above, it shows the human experience.

Someone needs to do something about that delinquent Jia Hao.

We could have done without 5 minutes of Jia Hao whining. 😒

I also think 16 is too young but it’s technically not a crime since the age of consent in Thailand is 15, which makes it all the more weird that they chose him but weren’t prepared to let him do kissing scenes etc (btw I don’t want to see a 16 year old doing nsfw scenes). It’s clear they are avoiding nsfw scenes because of possible backlash from international audiences. In the past they had no problem doing this once they hit the age of consent (15 years). Just bad decisions all round. I was honestly enjoying it up until this episode. I think both leads are decent actors and they should have either kept it with no implied kisses/bedroom scenes at all or hire mature actors and go all out.

Hairstyles isn't something I usually pay attention to but I'll keep a look out so I can differentiate. Thank you.

I usually watch the first episode of a new show to decide if it’s captivating enough to tune in every week or wait until all the episodes air and then binge.

With this one I think I will wait.

I won’t be too harsh with my first impression because it is only the first episode and it wasn’t terrible.

Initial thoughts:

We’re seeing more and more of this handsome vs geeky/plain looking pairing. Maybe it’s a trend now because of the success of PitBabe.

The actor playing Patt is a decent actor and is sort of carrying the show at the moment. The Elis actor is a bit green. Perhaps they hoped that with one being good looking and one being a decent actor, it would balance it out.

SIDE NOTE: I personally think the actor playing Patt is cute. I really like his smile and the character is endearing.

The editing and camera angles feel very amateurish. There are some scenes that look like they were filmed from the ‘side’ and ‘below’ from a weird angle, like a hidden camera/ student budget feel.

The timeline is very confusing so far. I’m not sure what has happened yet or if it’s showing flashes of the future. There is also no clear distinction between the end of a flashback and the return to present day. I have to look at the clothes they are wearing to make an educated guess. It doesn’t help that Patt is sometimes wearing the same suit on multiple different days.

I am the same tbh, but I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I realise that the least I can do for survivors and victims is to hear their story. I’ve watched Silence and it’s on my list of personal faves but I could never watch it again. Once was enough.

To be fair, there are few innocent ones in this drama. Only people who did more or less bad things compared to other characters. Fasai’s father and Tonkla murdered people. Great and Tyme were no angels but they didn’t kill anyone in cold blood.

Oh, yeah. I can see how it resembles inception.

At the end Great was messing with Tyme by pretending they might still be in the 4minutes timeline but it was a gotcha moment. I don't know if you've ever seen The OA but the alternate timelines and the doc's near death/coma research kinda reminds me of that.
