had to brood on the ending for a bit. maybe the timing was not right for me to watch this. but here I only liked 12580 - that spider is simply the cutest little thing.

anyway i think that out of the 3 - red moon pact was the best. it was also criticized for lack of chemistry and the awkward relationship. well given that that relationship is considered awkward then their awkward chemistry is appropriate so i had no issues with that.

here, chemistry is being criticized - essentially that their relationship is like the relationship between master and disciple, or whatever. well if their relationship came through pity and gratitude (correct me if i'm wrong), how could it possibly transform into a healthy balanced relationship? that would probably require multiple plot-twists and episodes focusing solely on that relationship to get to a point where transformation could be believable. I guess the story wasn't about that.

so, yeah, i think them ending up as a spider & butterfly puts them on the same level and whichever way they are going to cultivate/grow together is probably alright. the ending is definitely happier and more normal than LIP's.

"With a kid or something", eh, these screenwriters killed FL in the last few minutes of the final episode in "Love in Pavilion". Just when I settled in to "nothing could go wrong" mode 😭. Anyway, cute spider & a butterfly is definitely better than what i expected.

it's not that bad/sad. they come back. herself is again a cute little spider. i'm guessing he is a butterfly. but they communicate and live near the tree which is now not evil. hopefully not too much of a spoiler. also i was in tears for half of the episode, mainly because i was laughing so hard at the fox demon's voice and what he was saying. so yeah, it's a happy enough ending for me.

ah yeah, technical side is cheap particularly choreography. but heavily references "imperial coroner" and at least 3 other shows from this year. and, i love these little homage/dj'ed-minis nonetheless. it's a nice method to add something to a more popular show. and as standalone it's not a bad show. i definitely didn't hate it.

fantastic show. there were a few twists which i found a bit heavy for a non-stop binge because there are a few different cases and moving pieces. still loved it.

ah yeah often it's just a matter of the right mood. i keep a few episodes or scenes from different dramas around just to have something familiar. i re-watched GE maybe 3 or 4 times early on and keep a few episodes around. i don't feel like doing a full re-watch now though.

interesting. there seems to be a consensus now that LY;s lot was the unfairest/saddest one. but when you put it that way, he did achieve his goals. yeah something to think about.

well yeah there are plenty of people like trying to take a trip. that's why i got curious why there's no ban on "advertising" ... "travel methods" some as you mentioned could be construed as an invitation really. i did expect some lemming pandemic purely due to population differences. but no, as far as i can see 2 shows that got the ball rolling were "palace" and "scarlet heart" in 2011 (like they were called out by name) and it kinda got formalized in 2017. short dramas became covered by the policy not so long ago (less than 3 years ago). anyway, i thought it was interesting.

that's what i thought originally, but i was unable to find anything to support that. just like in europe this type of details would not be published in press but they must be included in policy making protocols. i was unable to find anything about mass attempts to transmigrate. if you're aware of something like this - please, pass it on.

it's not exactly a ban. some aspects of it were criticized and industry came up with it's own set of guidelines. similar to "hays code" which was in hollywood. i suppose it's easier to follow it rather than waste money and then not get license from real censorship.

(sensible overall, not just to time travel)

1) don't distort history.
explaining some historical event being caused by some fictional obscure character and not how it's in history books.
pretty sensible.

2) don't use time travel as a plot device.
concern is it trivializes history and makes it easy to distort it.
someone travels to a real dynasty and has wild adventures with a real emperor.
(note:yeah methods to time travel or transmigrate are not very safe in this situation.)

3) don't tell stories with a "pessimistic view of history".
well it's really about not being one sided. stories should inspire confidence and pride in chinese history and culture, not cynicism or despair.

4) don't fabricate historical side stories.
point focuses more on the method than result.
lack of seriousness and respect for historical authenticity.
like, costumes, materials, everyone is an engineer and has lots of ink & paper to write.

workarounds:
1) amnesia/coma/dream.
2) parallel universes & historical fiction
4) books and video games: destination is a fictional world.
3) body swap & reincarnation (born within the same timeline like with extra consciousness).
modern consciousness can exist in a historical setting without the mechanics of "time travel" being the focus.

well is traveling into a story much different to "traveling" in a coma for the ending we got?
but as long as the world they traveled to is fictional it should be ok. but in a dream it's probably easier to bring the family along to a fantastic adventure.

I was very surprised to hear about your dm experience. I've been using dm for at least 7 months now and i doubt that i've seen more than 10 pop ups during this time. I use "Brave" browser and it blocks the ads there very well. Tried it in firefox and glad i was missing all that.

"Sad but less unfair to LY", well actually it seems pretty tragic. if ML transmigrated into the body of LY and eventually managed to get back to his own time. It's actually the host's body going crazy with memories that don't belong to him. i'm pretty sure there's no point to dwell on it too much. there's probably a BTS of 2 screenwriters playing rock,paper,scissors to decide who is going to do the next scene.

i totally feel you. i did the same thing. also i feel stupid coz it's my 2nd time being misled by a poster & synopsis to such extreme. i'd say i'll take a little break and get back to fated hearts soon especially now that it's finished airing.
