this was by far the best ending of any transmigration with return to modern times stories in all the 700+ dramas…
it's definitely different. to me it feels like ML transmigrated while FL traveled in time. so them finally meeting in their own timeline feels more natural than LY or another ancient person appearing in modern times. the fact that they were standing there without making a move seemed alright to me too. technically they are still strangers on this timeline so exaggerated emotions could be a tad inappropriate. so yeah the ending is definitely up there in the "good" bracket.
I wouldn’t call it the best, Romance of Tiger and Rose pulled off a similar ‘ML dreaming of FL’ ending but…
lol, if we are going down that road, a mini "Please Don't spoil me" s5, even the magical narrator ended up in modern times :D but yeah i agree tiger &rose ending was better than here.
good show & the ending. i'm not affected by pareidolia so it was easier to treat it as an eye-candy - visually it's done very well & acting is top notch by everyone. even if to go through the 15 drag/filler episodes each scene (when taken in isolation) i think all of them were done very well. although for me the princess was the best.
should've found it suspicious that they traveled into the past separately, so yeah there was possibility that the rest of the family in the past were figments of her imagination, but that curve ball of assessment in e32 ... tss not going to dwell on it.
there were 2 points that annoyed me unmercifully and it took a lot of effort to keep a positive view of that crew overall. 1st, there was no indication that it's not ok to berate handsome shen or argue in front of his daughter that's like prepping someone for therapy with daddy issues. 2nd where FL started to apply her "desensitization" method. at least in this situation mom said no don't hurt yourself anymore. of course it would be funnier if mom gave her a slap and said something like when you feel like hurting yourself give me a shout i'll slap the shit out of you.
also, there was a point where i was afraid it will be a "comedy" with an ending like "Hello Dear Ancestors" but surprisingly they managed to pull their "creative skills" together and tied it up nicely. anyway on aggregate i didn't hate it
Plot predictable but amusing. I would recommend you to watch only till episode 31, minutes 37:23, to not get disappointed…
just finished e32, it was very good it tied everything up. and with a bit of mental gymnastics it's pretty much as good as it gets for this type of a show.
well if he did win it would be still lame. Lady shen deserved that win and he proved himself to his fam that is…
well, it was obvious that all other teams were going to produce far better dishes, entourage and all that. they are just running a fast food diner not a michelin level restaurant, so come on, it doesn't feel fair to come in with BAYM expectations. here it was really just a vehicle to wrap up that other plot-twist. i actually forgot over how many episodes that BAYM competition dragged over, 3? can't say i didn't enjoy it but there was a point where i was like, fuck! please! end it! but i understand where you're coming from - marketing for the show is a bit misleading.
This show is starting to piss me off. I get that the focus isn't romance, and that's fine, but it's 32 episodes…
next time is see a drama by this 2 scriptwriters i'm definitely waiting until it finished airing. so far 4 out of 4 of their works have brilliant start and then some bs is introduced just to spoil the mood - "viewer can't be too happy". i suspect one of them does all the good work and the other introduces dead children & psycho women.
also, it would be very strange to narrate the story in the beginning as if they are still there to just shift and carry on from that. so there's still hope yet.
I know the romance in this one is a slow burn but why is it burning till the last ep 😭.
such a slow burn that one party now resorts to kidnapping. i must be misunderstanding what "slow burn" means 😂would be funny if she tells him that she is from the future in the last episode and he is like "me too! i had no idea what you were saying because i didn't speak chinese when i got here"
I feel like a lot of people are forgetting that this is, at its core, a family drama centered around the women…
does the official synopsis or posters imply that it's a "family drama centred around women"?
first of all it's tagged as a comedy. so when i read family is going on" extraordinary adventure" i expect they will be facing issues as a team. when i read "unconventional love story" i honestly dont expect that one party will be harming herself to feel better for avoiding that relationship. seriously "extraordinary journey filled with culinary delights" doesn't imply that the family is dysfunctional and the plot has no obvious positive strategy to solve their issues and make each character become better and family overall. actually no time either despite being at e26 everything is still the way it was around e10. Yang Yang's lot is just too sad and it's difficult to watch her scenes. does any of that correlate with the name "Yummy Yummy Yummy"?
so in retrospect what you say could be true. at least it's one of possible interpretations, but to me it's definitely was not obvious from marketing or the vibe at the start of the show. overall the show isn't bad and i'll probably get express just to get it over with. but yeah my expectations are definitely not met.
unrelated yeah it would've been hilarious if "Twelve Letters" poster was done in similar style as the YYY poster on wetv.
