it had almost all of the elements i would like in drama, smart fl, repectful ml, intriguing arcs, healthy couple, found family, revenge plot and the cinematography was gorgeous.
so i couldn't fathom why I'm now struggling to finish this. it really lost its grip on me after the murderer tailor case.
the most characters felt so one dimensional and boring, like genuinely even the fl and ml didn't interest me anymore with their character's decisions. they became a pattern that looked so clear. the fl saving some important person, then like in a game she gains +1 for her status, ml is there to save her and back her up and assist her. rinse and repeat, LIKE??
all these characters at fl's disposal felt so cringe, several characters being so smitten by her they want to protect her. now ive loved found family trope eversince. but the moments they show us with grand princess family was so limited then the next thing they're adopting her? like im sorry you've just met this girl that came from other mountain, yes she saved you but really? so forced, there wasn't even genuine moments of them outside of her treating grand princess or genuine emotional connection she'd made with the family.
then another thing is the over glorification of the law in this drama. it showed me even other aspects of how both the mc were so one dimensional. of course a cdrama would always contain some sort of propaganda in it.
sad to say, it was so good at the beginning then slowly went down hill with all these flat characters and questionable plot devices and plot armors. first time watching li landi and her beauty has always felt so serene to me so she really pulled off the poised young lady she's portraying but still not enough to make me continue this one.

also this emperor so far is underwhelming in terms of how much power his character holds. his two wives seemed more interesting. one dimensional emperor
worst arc and worst episode. no shade to these added characters but they're acting is unpolished the whole plot felt like a filler plot. compared to the previous cases, this one shouldn't have been added because it would ruin the momentum of all those spine chilling cases. unnecessary arc
im watching ep 24 and i swear the quality dropped. where was the gorgeous eerie cinematography from early episodes? now with this beidu arc the camera work felt so boring and the dark atmosphere was gone.
