i'm not an avid reader and romance novels bore me, i only read fantasy stuff most of the time, i'm not going to drop this yet (nor rate it) i just hope for more equality in the relationship and a bit of personality from the male lead 👍

tbh it's not the fl that bothers me cause i get her she has other things to think about, it's the ML, he's just so.. bland to me, so boring 🥲 i've never finished hidden love cause i didn't like that either but i remeber he was a lot more lively and funny (and the fact that he's so desperate and clingy does not help his case)

the love feels comepletely one-sided and it bothers me... i'm putting this on hold for now maybe i will pick it up again later

his only personality trait was liking Sol, he had nothing else going on in his life, even him dying was because of her and that's kinda sad

i did watch some chinese dramas that i really enjoyed that had really good female leads which usually are dramas set in modern time so i know that not all Chinese dramas are like this but i'm trying to give this genre a chance since i do like fantasy, but till now it has been a bad journey mostly because of either the FL or for an overbearing jealous ML (and like you said very repeated plots)🥲

i know that some asian cultures like the whole purity thing (i hate the aegyo thing it's so creepy to me) but you can be pure and act like an adult; just because it's their weird culture doesn't make it right
Also in the past the whole "innocent girl" thing was quite common everywhere and that slowly started to change with time, if we just shut up and let anything pass as "it's just their culture" no change will ever be made

and i find that creepy tbh, i can't imagine a man (who's supposed to be quite old mentally at least) looking at such character and think "oh she acts like a child! that's hot"
