I think one of the problems with C-ent is that they’re too focused on making “popular” dramas by recycling the same old tropes that may have worked before but are starting to feel outdated now. I can even sense that Chinese audiences are getting tired of it too. Summer is usually the season when we get several big costume-romance hits but this year many of them haven’t performed as strongly as expected.
And they keep trying to copy-paste successful couples into the same type of drama again and again… like, where is the creativity as you just mentioned? 😭
That’s why I feel Bai Lu and CZY could actually give us something really fresh if they were paired in a creative modern romance or rom-com with a more original concept, something with the kind of freshness we sometimes get from K-dramas. And Bai Lu is absolutely hilarious in modern dramas!!! 😂 She has such natural comedic timing which is exactly why I want to see her in a really fun, fresh rom-com again.
They’re both naturally funny and entertaining, so with the right script and concept, I honestly think it could be so much fun to watch.
