I think they’re still in the editing process and they really shouldn’t rush it. They should make sure the final product has good quality before releasing any content especially with this director.

Anyway, if you want to watch him with WCR, then yes, he does have a lot of scenes with her, and if you want to treat him as the ML in your own mind, then go ahead.
CZY is here to act and do justice to his role, not to rely on CP hype with the FL like someone.

But from my perspective, they cast CZY as the ML to brings much more attention to the project, That might also be why the SML gets much more exposure here than he would in a drama where he is actually the male lead. What’s interesting is that the CP itself was never that heavily promoted in China because neither ZLS nor CZY really tried to sell the pairing that aggressively at the time. So despite how naturally they matched on screen and how well the drama performed, their CP never became as heavily marketed or talked about domestically as some others. That’s why I feel a reunion is even harder to predict...

I would LOVE to see them in a drama that spans both modern and historical setting, something with fantasy elements maybe produced by Youku because I think Youku can be really good at fantasy dramas when they do them properly.
But now, ZLS is basically her own boss now and can even produce her own projects, lol 😂 She’s too powerful! the queen herself! 👑 She’s still my most beloved actress in C-ent and I genuinely want to see her come back with a really good project. Talking about it, a lot of dramas have been ruined recently because some production teams seem to just burn through the budget and then throw low-quality dramas at the audience, as if viewers will accept anything they produce.
But after the government warned the industry this year about the need to improve drama quality and with platform stocks dropping badly, maybe they’re finally starting to wake up. From what I’ve seen while stalking Weibo, platforms also seem to be more cautious about approving new drama projects now which they absolutely should be.
They should also stop relying so heavily on connections and allowing unskilled people to handle expensive long-form productions. That doesn’t mean newcomers shouldn’t be given opportunities, of course. Let them start with smaller projects first, gain experience, learn from their mistakes and improve their skills before being trusted with a huge-budget drama.
As for directors or production teams that have already worked on many projects but still show no improvement and continue producing careless, low-quality work... maybe platforms really should stop giving them big projects. At some point, experience should actually lead to better work.
Chasing Dreams already has more than 2.2 million reservations on just one platform, even without much pre-promotion and with only a few trailers, which is honestly quite good. It has also been appearing at the top of the most-anticipated drama charts from time to time recently, so clearly there are audiences waiting for it.
